I'm not denying all the experiments where 5k players took accounts at 2.7k and brought them up, but I do think that there's a space roughly 5-700 MMR from your 'true' level where you can get stuck. A space where you're clearly the best player, but also not enough the best to drag your team, kicking and screaming, to victory. You'll eventually make it back to where you theoretically should be, but it'll be slow, and painful and fucking arduous. This is basically a complaint about how I had a 55% winrate across 800 games of unranked, and now a 40% winrate in ~80 games of ranked, despite feeling like I'm playing better in those games. | ||

There's a reason that other games have systems like "leagues" and "divisions"--it's because when given a raw rating, people over-think the number they're given and believe the system has far higher resolution than it actually does so giving people general groupings tends to do a better job of portraying the same information. | ||

Oh, I agree with that. I'm defining "the trench" as the point at which it's easier to lose MMR while playing well than it is to gain it back. It is NOT fun to spend two hours across two games getting nothing but abuse and harrassment from the teams I'm on for literally no reason whatsoever for the entire game with them happily ganging up to yell shit and report me. Its a lost game before I've even started for one thing. For another for some reason you've cleared out the thirty reports I had stacked up so I can't even report all of them for the abuse because you've reset them to 6. I have had a thoroughly miserable evening and it is ENTIRELY down to people in goddamn stacks. Give back the solo queue. | ||

Most irritating part of not having soloqeue atm for me is that when you accept a match and someoneelse declines, you get a higher priority which basically means getting paired with stacks. If someone declines a match or it takes more then 4 minutes to find one, just cancel search and start a new one. It feels to be working, i still loose matches and stuff like that but no more funky radiance+medusa trolllololol builds and stuff like that. | ||
