I noticed that but it hadn't occured to me I thought it was amd+nvidia cards mismatched or 6/8 core ryzens just dropping random frames but apparently just nothing can run it and this is starting to seem dumb I mean I just want to know can 6 core work with 1070 and will it keep the frames high enough but by the time I find out new tech will come out I was not looking forward to doing extensive research my main thing is just not blowing $1.5k when i don't have to as Cyro pointed out I may or may not settle for 120-130 fps just to save $800 on a build because at that point the gpus wont even hold up the frame rate so there is no point in say buying a 9900k when I could have a 2700x when all I am getting is 130 fps anyway with any gpu up to a 1070. You see that's that I bought the 1070 and not a 2080 ti because we're talking about a 1k price difference for 10 fps difference at the res I am playing in. Since I cannot have gpu at any price hold that I would pay for the 1070, take the 10 frame per second loss, and preferrably do the same with the cpu. 8 core holds above 240 fps stable but 6 core will hold 130 fps stable? heck yeah gimme the 6 core and lets save some green!

Anyone got any ideas? Other than this problem, the machine runs smooth and renders amazingly fast. GPU is loud when it does, but that doesn't bother me.

1. Revert to stock clocks if OC'd 2. Update all drivers/firmware (ex. BIOS, graphics etc.) One possible area to look at is RAM timings if using XMP - maybe drop it to JEDEC speeds and see if the error goes away? As far as framerates go, I feel like consistency of framerate is far more important than absolute max framerate. 1% lows are always going to be more noticeable and impactful than a 5FPS avg framerate difference, especially with adaptive sync technologies.

Haven't OC'd it and updated everything already. I'll check the RAM as it has been idling at 25% give or take.

For whatever reason, when I tried to DOCP my RAM, it wouldn't boot back. So It's stuck in auto mode for now.

Right now I am running a 1070 and it seems to do fine at 1080p 144hz I assume its running stable around ~120 fps in fortnite buuuuuut depends on what you're doing.........SCII I think only needs 3.5 gpu vram and core clock/mem clock idk but gtx 970 range for those numbers

+ Show Spoiler + Ok, so forgive me for asking these very very very basic questions. I'm new to computer hardware. And when I mean new, I mean that I didn't even know thermal paste was a thing until a few weeks ago (I think I knew, but I basically heard it once and then forgot about it or something, doesn't matter). I want to make a computer with my hands. I've scoured the last couple of ten pages: people talking about benchmarks and showing the differences between graphics cards or whatever; putting their builds out there and it being commented on, perhaps advising changes etc.. which is all very nice, but I don't really understand the differences between the products I'm considering buying. Like, for instance, if I'm looking at RAM, what's the difference between: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4 3000MHz (2 x 8 GB) Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro CMW16GX4M2C3000C15 16GB DDR4 3000MHz (2 x 8 GB) Corsair Vengeance LP 16GB DDR3 1600MHz (2 x 8 GB)? They all look fairly the same, I'm sure the more expensive one (RGB Pro - middle one) is better than the rest and that that DDR4 is better than the DDR3 (newer model I guess), but it still seems kind of vague. What I need is not even the reason why I'm posting here. What I really want to know is what types of hardware just mesh together. Can I buy an Asus mobo and put corsairs in the RAM sockets and hook up an FSP psu and an Nvidia gpu and a Ryzen cpu and expect it to all work? Like.. I guess I need to install stuff to make it all work or communicate with each other or something, but I really don't know how that works. Perhaps I should read more about it, but I don't really have an inkling on where to begin.. If someone could point me to the basics, that could be very helpful. Like I've seen discussions about BIOS updates because the hardware wasn't directly compatible with the mobo, and I don't reaaaaally want to deal with that if I have to so, yeah. I guess I want to start delving into what the hardware world has to offer, because I'm becoming increasingly interested in computers, but don't really understand all that much about it atm. I'm willing to treat myself for once - never had decent gear ever - so budget isn't THAT much of an issue (not willing to go much over €1500). I just don't want to buy all these components that look good on paper and then just won't work because of reason I don't understand (yet). Sorry for sounding so desperate, and I don't really know what I'm expecting to happen with this post (advice I guess - but what kind, I don't really know). Maybe it's helpful if I specify my needs. I need to be able to play modern and less modern games, I want to be able to work with software that does audio processing and rendering. I guess some extra stuff might come into play later on, but that's mostly it at the moment. I'll guess I'll go post the form now: What is your budget? €1500 What is your monitor's native resolution? Will buy a monitor What games do you intend to play on this computer? What settings? LoL, Steam stuff - I want to look into what they have to offer What do you intend to use the computer for besides gaming? Live audio processing and rendering Do you intend to overclock? No - perhaps sometime in the future if I'm more confident in what all this stuff is and does lol Do you intend to do SLI / Crossfire? No Do you need an operating system? Yes - thinking about Linux / Windows dual boot, but Idk yet. Do you need a monitor or any other peripherals and is this part of your budget? Yes and yes. If you have any requirements or brand preferences, please specify. No What country will you be buying your parts in? Online - Belgium; Europe I guess? These are the products I've found, by just randomly looking at hardware parts and considering of buying if they are compatible. Are they compatible? Will they give me issues? I really have no clue lol. Just want to understand the different parts and want the satisfaction of having quality stuff for once. AMD Ryzen 5 2600 AM4 FSP/Fortron Hydro G 750W ATX Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB OC ASUS ROG STRIX B450-F GAMING Socket AM4 AMD B450 Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4 3000MHz (2 x 8 GB) I guess I want an SSD of 500 gigabyte (Samsung 860 EVO 500GB SSD) and I'll get me some external ones once the time is there.

You better look for AMD 3600 + 500W bequiet pure power 11 + gtx1660 super + Crucial MX500 + MSI B450 A-PRO MAX. I don't think you will be happy with 500GB. Many shooter games need plenty spaces. COD:MW takes 175GB. Read Dead Redemption wants 150GB, GTA5 takes 90GB etc. 1050ti is a very weak GPU. gtx1650 or better a 1660super.

Guess I could get that Crucial MX500 instead of a samsung SSD. Why do you recommend the bequiet pure power? Because it's the best bang for its buck? If I go pretty much balls to the wall, with peripherals as well, I get something along 1650. If I get the tad less expensive stuff, it's 1550. I still don't know if I need one or multiple heat sinks / extra fans. I haven't specified a case yet (going to leave it open for now until I decide what I want -- I guess it's not necessary to cover it yet), so that'll be another cost, but I don't reaaaaaally care to put too much into that.. does not need to be super aesthetically pleasing or anything. I put down 70 for keyboard, because I found one that looks quite nice and is ergonomic and such, but I bet I can find some better, so that's my limit for now. Sound card for music production will become a price tag on its own, because from what I've found it's quite a bit more expensive than initially thought. The earphones (don't need a mic) are also quite the cost, but I love good sound. I don't think I'll be able to have that much leeway with the prices if I want the good stuff, right?

Feel free to update us on its performance when you have it working. So I've been looking at all these different products. Been checking out what other people have suggested. Been looking at youtube stuff. I'm still kind of at a loss, but more in the sense of - does the choice of product really matter. It feels like I'm starting to have a sense of getting more of a grasp on what low-mid-high end stuff is (1500+ for a GPU, what?!), and what different types of products there are, but in the end it still feels like: compatibility, buy stuff that has your preference, put it all in, hope it works. Which honestly, doesn't make me feel much more confident buying €300 components. I'll just put it out there and feel free to blast me if you feel like it for even daring to ask it. If I just buy the components that are listed in my pic (3 posts up), will I end up with a working computer if I figure out how to install an OS on an empty computer? I'm most likely changing the power supply for something less, like a 500W one, and my SSD (scratching the Plus). PS I feel like such a moron who has no clue what he's talking about -- and don't get me wrong, I know I don't know what I'm talking about, but watching these youtube clips where they ramble off these product names and specifications just raises my eyebrows more than that it illuminates me.

You can get much better value from your components tho, pcpartpicker.com is a good place to start a build, even the generic guides aren't too bad. I'll dig up a part list when I get home from earlier in the thread
