Hey guys, after your great comments I'm finally satisfied with this build:
Gigabyte Z87X-D3H 126 € @amazon Intel Core i5 4670K 190 € @amazon GIGABYTE Geforce GTX 660 OC 150 € @alternate G.Skill DIMM 8 GB DDR3-2133 Kit 67 € @alternate 250GB Samsung 840 Evo 136 € @mindfactory 530 Watt be quiet! Pure Power L8 CM 65 € @mindfactory BitFenix Merc Alpha Midi Tower 32 € @mindfactory Thermalright HR-02 Macho 35 € @mindfactory Samsung SH-224DB 14 € @mindfactory
This adds up to 813 € with my dicounts at gigabyte only 757 €
Thanks for your input. What I learned was mainly how hard it is to stop. "Only 20 € more for a better XXX" was on my mind too often. Especially for the cheap case. But everything should fit in, I hope I won't regret ignoring Cyros concerns.
Thanks again.

Yeah reselling games the conservative bet is 50% of retail *if you're in a hurry. Anymore, you gotta be patient and wait for more desperate/uninformed buyers lmao.

Hey guys, quick question, if im going to be using the h100i can i assemble it out of the case to check the components are working, the disassemble it and the reassemble it back in the case without using extra thermal paste?
|
It is best practice to remove and reapply thermal paste everytime you remount.

Ok thanks. Another question, im doing my first ever build with a mitx with a CLC, do you think im jumping too much into the deep end? From what ive seen online it looks a lot easier than most people say.. especially with the corsair 250d (the one im using) which looks like one of the easiest mitx cases to build in.

Yeha, I just saw. The plot thickens for me then XD

I think you are right, there's nothing actually hard about what you want to do. Just be patient and take a good look at everything. It might take longer than working in a normal case.

They're apparently going to launch this month. http://wccftech.com/nvidia-geforce-gtx-750-ti-gtx-750-reference-design/
It might indeed be worth waiting, though in your shoes I would get impatient. Still, the GTX 750 seems to be quite similar in terms of architecture to the GTX 650 Ti and it also seems to be clocked a bit faster. If it's really going to cost $110 it might be a very nice purchase, especially since the 650 Ti is like $120-130.
They look like nice little GPUs for sure.

These being $110 and $140 respectively is very unlikely considering there would be a $100 gap between a GTX 760 and GTX 750 Ti but then again Nvidia could use the dumbass Boost suffix to fill the gap.

Heat is pretty much irrelevant, considering low end cards have no issues with temps+heat and the mid-high range like 760, 770 for example.. have the same coolers as 780ti's, even though they consume like 140-180w while 780ti on the same cooler has to deal with 350w (though heat buildup in case is a concern with multiple midrange+cards and overclocked cpu if you have bad airflow)
Unless they're volt unlocked.. but as it stands, most of the kepler cards aside from the gk110's are stuck at a low voltage anyway

Yeah. I will likely just go for the ti. It does what I need it to do. I'm halway inclined to get a 660 but that's nearly $200. Sort of eliminates a ssd from my build.
ALso trying to find a good H87 mobo.

G.Skill Sniper Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-2133 Memory operating voltage of 1.6V exceeds the Intel Haswell CPU recommended maximum of 1.5V+5% (1.575V). This memory module may run at a reduced clock rate to meet the 1.5V voltage recommendation, or may require running at a voltage greater than the Intel recommended maximum.
what's dis about?

It's just Intel's recommendation. There's nothing wrong with using memory at 1.65v.

decided to go with a best bang for buck build for around $1k. what do you guys think? i will be gaming at 1080p. can you guys tell me what this baby will be capable of in terms of gaming and streaming? More than enough? or should I stick with the 780 ti build? Thanks!
|
ok I think i like this build better. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/2OGlX Any advice?
Also, the auto price picker that comes up with the lowest prize doesn't always have the free shipping part correct. There are so many parts where I thought it was free shipping and when I click on check out, it has a shipping and handling cost attacked to it.

Rosewill Capstone 450 is significantly better than Corsair CX600M and is practically the same price.
Don't spend money on a heatsink + thermal paste. Just get a better heatsink that comes with good thermal paste like the Thermalright True Spirit or Macho. And even if you wanted to purchase thermal paste, the AS5 is really dated...
You don't need a GTX 780 Ti for 1080p.
Corsair Carbide 200R for $60 is really meh.. you have much better cases for $10-$20 more. eg. Antec P280 right now is $70: http://us.ncix.com/products/?sku=92566&promoid=1363
Corsair Vengeance memory... typically not a good value. $87 for 1600MHz is definitely not a good value.
Gigabyte Z87X-D3H for $125 on Newegg right now would be a better purchase than an Asrock Z87 Extreme4 at $130.

wow, so you like my build? it's kinda hard to please you guys but you seem to like it since the changes are minimal. =) thanks for the advice!

Do you have Amazon Prime? If you don't then that would explain why you don't get free shipping.
Z87X-D3H is available from Newegg for $125 right now with promo code.
Hyper 212 EVO isn't good, get a Thermalright True Spirit or Macho for slightly more.
Antec 900 is really dated and very bad at $96. It lacks a lot of modern features (cable routing, tool-less, USB3, etc) that cases at $100 should have.
Seasonic M620II is dated. Rosewill Capstone and XFX XTR are both much better at similar pricing.
