If you already play on a good computer is changing the variable.txt even worth it? I tried changing everything but couldn't notice a difference in fps from normal low to the changed variable.txt both we're around 240-250 frames.

Well, I think everything above 100 fps is not really noticable anymore.

You have to change variables.txt that belongs to the spesific account you log in. Those will rewrite the settings in "My Documents" variables...

I too am on a shitty laptop, but I don't understand the complaints about the new patch. Up until the patch I would play a ladder game starting at ~25-30 fps on a good day, and near the endgame getting 10-15 fps, and watching large battles made it really hard to micro with less than 10 fps.

With the new patch, I'm starting games at 40-50 fps and never going below 20 even in the endgame. I have no idea what was changed by the patch but it got a lot more out of my comp. I didn't change any graphics settings myself by the way.

Not changing this to enGB would give you a language pack error as you tried to play unless you are on a US version of the game.

To answer your question: Yes it would be enough to change enUS to enGB to make boomudead's settings work on an English EU client.

Wait, I thought Bnet replaced any modified files when running the launcher, that's why all those 1.5 threads came up talking about how mods won't work anymore. Did someone find a way around that?

It used to do that, but Blizzard has seemingly removed that feature... I can't change everything and nothing reverts when restarting the game.

shadowmapsize=4 really helped. my laptop doesnt get as hot now too. still looking for any further tweaks. im also using gamebooster with sc2.. i think it helps..

yeah i know. this is the only problem too and it sucks.hard to see cloak units unless theyre attacking. i have to always put up 1 turrets in TvP incase of dt. banshee are easy to detect tho once u get use to it. however the setting helps a lot in TvZ when roaches/infestors burrow move u can easily see the ground mark and spot them. the problem is that the ground is too simple and so u cant see the blurred from cloaked units unless theyre atacking.

u need this 2 line both in there TerrainTextureHiResCacheSize=40
TerrainTextureLowResCacheSize=40

i had this problem too when i tried it out. took me a few hours to figure out the perfect 40/40. again. hard to see cloaked units. but can spot burrowed moving roaches/infestors easily. kinda sucks unless someone figures it out.

u can change terraintexturesize from what i had was 6. change it to 8. makes creep edge sharper. or even 10 if u want. i had it at 6 cuz i can still see creep and with better fps than 10 or higher.

texspace does nothing if i lower it.. doesnt help fps
