1. You're using Windows 32-bit, so you're only using part of your RAM. Could be a root cause of the problem. 2. Can you enumerate your FPS issues. For example, if you're going from like 80FPS to 45FPS in big battles, I think that might be normal with that CPU. State what FPS you get average at what resolution/graphics/cpu settings, and what events cause it to dip to what point. 3. The fact that you say it works better after a restart also might indicate a heat issue. Have you looked into this?
|
I guess saying fps is the problem may be wrong because it still shows high fps when im playing and its bad. and i ran a heat monitoring problem while playing and it got to around 60C i believe.
|
Are you running on the stock cooler?
60C is about the TOP TOP end of a Phenom II in terms of heat for a stock cooler, so yeah you're definitely pushing it, especially if only 2/6th of your cores were being used, and SC2 shouldn't even be using those 2 at 100% all the time.
If you're using an aftermarket, that's definitely bad.
Do you know how to run prime95 and use HWMonitor or some other temp program?
Also, sincerely look into installing 64-bit Windows.

That is the heat for the graphics card not the processor. And how do I get starcraft to use all the cores?

You don't. Most games, in fact. Ph2 X6 is a waste of money for 99% of users, and barely worth it for the remainder.
How much free space does your primary HDD have?
|
If performance in-game is degrading over time, I would lean towards over-heating issues. If this is the case (which you can determine with the above-mentioned utilities), clean out some dust, replace and add a few fans. Check the thermal paste on the GPU and CPU.

FPS can be high but still stutter. Usually it's just lag due to internet, but he is saying he's getting 18mbps.
That temp is normal for your GPU.
You can't force SC2 to use more cores.
Try running prime95, CPU-Z, and HWMonitor. Use prime95 to make your CPU run under full load and show us the statistics in CPU-Z and HWMonitor.

Thank you for all your guys help turns out it was my mouse interfering with the game i have the razer spectre luckily the patch fixed it. Works great now!!!

glad to hear, as a sidenote you couldn't have screwed up more with the processor, mobo and the PSU o.O Phenom II for SC2 like..
|
Well Its mostly a work computer not just for SC2. though SC2 was a good reason I had to go for work reasons on some of the hardware
|
but like black edition amd on a stock fan(i5 2400 wrecks this in everything) and the PSU is overkill by around 130%.
|
room for expansion (more graphics cards)
|
oh ok well, hope you'll enjoy the bottleneck you create for yourself by using the phenom II processor so that you barely have any performance gains even with 2-way SLi(that's 600-650W), not to mention that your mobo doesn't even support more GPUs so you're paying the ~hundred extra for air and likely for worse efficiency at the levels you use the PSU.
Also, you allined yourself by getting a non-bulldozer mobo and screwed yourself over by not getting intel.
Now as for the issue my best bet is that it's a combination of 32bit being shit and your CPU being shit and half of that you can fix.

Well thanks for shitting all over me being a guy new to building computers and like I said it works fine now after then patch and also I accidentally installed 32 bit and have already reinstalled with 64bit and I didnt have money to spend on an intel processor. there is no reason to be an ass. im new to this kind of stuff
|
How was I being an ass? I don't see anything halfway offensive in what I said... And I can see you are new to this, what I don't get is how you didn't check the computer here first but come here after you get frame drops. If you think me calling 32bit or the CPU shit is being offensive, well no, that's my objective assessment and has nothing to do with you. My assessment of the computer is also objective.
It could also be a RAM issue but I don't know why 4gb wouldn't be enough, could also be a virus but my best bet is a combination of 32bit and the cpu.
Btw overclock it at least if you bought that cpu or mobo it even might help, you got the overclocking headroom with that PSU at least
|
Sorry for misinterpreting what you were saying. My apologies. Anyway it turned out to be a problem with my mouse. A razor spectre and the APM lighting the patch 1.4.1 fixed it. Also how would I overclock it?

Good lord. The amount of arrogance in Shikyo's post is just too much for me to stomach.
If you dont know what the guy does with his computer then it might be best to refrain from shitting all over him for choosing 6 cores over faster, similarly price but only 4 cores CPU. To each, his own. Yanno ?

And it pierces my soul that someone would get a 1050W PSU for a 560 Ti SLi, now I guess you're the kind of a person who doesn't mind his friend paying twice the amount he needs for something just because he doesn't know better and don't say anything to him because "that'd be mean", if his next computer is properly built because of what I've said you know who's been more useful.
|
Rule of thumb: Don't shit on someone's computer if he already bought it. It's courtesy. Simply saying "hey I noticed your PSU is a bit overkill! You should ask for a build review in the TL thread next time"...would have had the same effect.
Don't need to go on saying this is shit...this too...oh and this too omg how can u go worse. IM BEING OBJECTIVE. ITS SHIT!

You are assuming there is a dichotomy here, whether one "helps" his friend by telling him what a stupid fool he is or by pretending there is no problem. But guess what ? You can actually tell people what they are doing is wrong nicely and politely.
Unfortunately, it wont inflate your e-peen as much as shitting all over them must have made you feel.
|
@Bambi Well, to be fair, it is poor decision making on components. Which, objectively, can be related to things not working as well as you want. And when you go asking people why your PC isn't working as well as you want, and then try to defend poorly chosen components in a fit of ego rather than just accepting it as a bad decision, you're begging for it.
@other dude, your name demonstrates your actual purpose. You come here and attack somebody for attacking somebody. Brilliant planning. At least Shikyo makes a reasonable effort, admits when he's been misinformed, and contributes regularly. You're just some troll who gets off on acting like you're sticking up for the common man.

I can't help but reenact this same situation in another context:
Friend buys some new clothes and asks you how she looks. It looks terrible. What do you tell her? lol
|
I wasn't trying to defend my stuff. I said I was new to this. I accept that I picked some stuff that's not good didn't know it when I bought it but I was just excited to be getting a new computer I just did it fast and got stuff that seemed good. I'm kinda new to tl so next time I will be sure to ask opinions on what I buy. Also for like the 4th time. My computer as it turns out did not cause the problem I was having patch 1.4 and my razor mouse caused it. And patch 1.4.1 fixed it.

That's an entirely different situation, but there's two important factors missing. Is she hot, and what are the odds of fucking this "friend"?
But no, it's closer to the friend asking why the 30 inch waist pants they bought are uncomfortable when they're a 36 inch waist.

Hey I was thinking about making a thread asking about what kind of mouse people would suggest since I used a small mouse at a friends house and it felt great. The mouse I have now. Razer specter is kinda big so where would I make the thread asking about small pro mice?

Hopefully you'd search and use one of the 37 trillion existing threads. Preferably browsing before posting. The second one may be asking too much, but I'd bet it's been discussed ad nauseum.

Thank you i appreciate it
