Since thread is currently focused on SSD's... I've got my Kingston V300 120GB a while ago, as some of you might know Kingston pulled a sketchy move and the SSD I got is one supposedly affected, well the benchmarks indeed seem poor.
+ Show Spoiler +
However my system is not that slow, sometimes it takes a while to load something but overall performance is good enough that on some start up's and restarts the PC boots so fast I can't access BIOS, the point of my explanation is, I'm losing here on something, or are these benchmark programs are deceiving me, that includes CrystalDiskMark as well.

Modern ssd is like ~3x faster than that

Well... I see, seems like it's time to pick up a new SSD.

I bought that V300 at 60GB size for a pretty old notebook. It only has SATA2. It runs like this:

This might just be the speed of those V300 (at least when buying the small sizes).
The old notebook still feels great, boots fast etc.

All these posts and Cyro still hasn't said anything about RMAing haha. Rough math puts his SSD at about 2.2 years (assuming you have a 24/7 system), so he'd still be within the RMA window.

Edit: hmm... this was suppose to be the mouse thread...
So my Razer Mamba 2012 that I purchased at the end of 2011 just had it's laser die out on me. The mouse buttons and everything works, but the cursor doesn't move (it's been acting up for a while now). So anyway, it's out of warranty and I'm looking around for a mouse. Was thinking about getting another Mamba till I read about this Razer Synapse 2.0 debacle. So now onto my question:
Does anyone know if the current line of "Synapse 2.0" enabled Mambas still have internal flash memory for profile storage? For example, can I still save up to 5 dpi setting profiles, set my custom LED color etc using the Mamba Configuration software to save data on the mouse internally, or is this all stored now in the cloud and downloaded onto local machines on a PC to PC basis? Because... um... screw that... I'll go with something else especially considering the price $_$''

I don't think you can RMA a SSD that's still working, albeit with poor health outlook. You'd have to look into it.

I was looking at his power on hours (19.3K) haha. I wouldn't risk it if I were in his position - advance RMA so there's no down time.

A lot of SSD warranties go by number of years or when X writes are used, whichever is first. That's to prevent people from using consumer drives in enterprise-type workloads and getting free coverage.
But yeah, it's still working now...
I kind of wonder if there was some weird case of huge write amplification like that one user saw that was linked.

I don't know but you could try using your brother's key and then upgrading the premium version (there's an option in My Computer) to the professional version using your own key.

i cant use his key (I thought) because he's using it on his new pc that i built for him. (he bought the OS from amazon, since he doesnt go to school atm, no way for him to get a free key. yes i know i coulda given him a free copy through my school, but my school was having issues with their contract with microsoft and it JUST got finished).

I don't even know what you're trying to ask, frankly.
Keys can be reused multiple times, even OEM ones. You're not supposed to, but it allows quite a few activations.

i can use the key my bro is using for his microsoft windows 7 home premium even though its already activated on this account? (i dont have to cuz i can get a free key from my school but i was curious on this.)
what im asking is that he bought this http://www.amazon.com/Windows-Premium-System-Builder-Version/dp/B004Q0PT3I/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1393046081&sr=1-1&keywords=windows 7 home premium oem
the home premium one. my school is giving me a free product key for a windows 7 profesional version, but no disc.
so i was wondering if i can use his disc that came with his purchase, to download the image thing, (home premium) and enter my free product key, (profesional version).
or do i have to do what skyler posted for the link? which would mean a "no" to my question then ??
|
The link skyR posted also leads you to a page that has downloads for installation media disc images for Windows 7 Pro with Service Pack 1 pre-applied. Download the disc image and burn it onto a disc or use the program "Rufus" to create a bootable USB stick out of that image. EDIT: Rufus website: http://rufus.akeo.ie/

Having a really strange issue that seems to only happen in League of Legends. It's basically a crash that I can't alt tab or task manager out of, the system needs to be 6 seconds turn off and on to boot.
I cannot reproduce the crash in any other games. I literally spent a good couple of hours wandering in DayZ and I got one little stutter but no proper crashes.
It sounds ridiculous but I feel like it's only happening in LOL. Below are the things I have tried so far...
Reinstall LOL Repair LOL Check all temps, no issues Reinstall AMD drivers Remove GPU overclock Remove CPU overclock unflash my 6950 from 6970 Run Heaven benchmark for hours Run Kombustor for ages Run Burntest for ages Run memtest (2 passes)
I literally can't reproduce this crash except playing LOL, happens in about 50% of games and I can't nail down a reason for it (like certain spell or action).
I'm literally out of ideas... never had a crash where the system locks and it still shows me the game on screen. Anyone have any comments to make?

So the computer isn't frozen and the game continues as normal, you just can't do anything on your machine?
What other programs are open? Does your computer or motherboard beep at you? Are you implying that the machine won't boot back on until it's been off for a minimum of 6 seconds?
|
I'm guessing it's a hard lock (game freezes and audio loops), which unfortunately means there probably aren't any BSoD dumps to analyze.
Maybe check Event Viewer and see if there are any clues?

Yep, its a hard lock, the audio doesn't loop but screen freezes. It did throw back a code of 124 which is memory or hardware but after running all the standard hardware checks I couldn't find an issue.
Playing LOL again today so I will update if it happens again.
*edit* i'm going to start a gaming log to monitor the crashes.
