I found out what I was doing wrong. Before you reconnect the network cable, you must have the login window asking for your b.net account. If you reconnect the cable while it still gives you the error message about b.net server not found, it still crashes (at least for me).

Worked for me aswell after a few trys.Had to wait a bit before pluging back the cable, even thou my browser loading was working, if I would try to connect in the next second it would "not responding" again.I waited 2 minutes after my connection was back online, with sc2 in the backgound at the login screen, and then loged, and it worked.

For anyone that this didnt work for:

Sc2 repair it reset the patch and you download it again.

It works because some of the caches gets replaced/overwriten

EDIT:

didnt work at second boot....

Have the freeze too, event viewer says 1002- application hang.. what does that mean? i googled it and came out with a possible keylogger, but i doubt thats the case.

Can anyone enlighten me please? thanks.

that means the application (the game) stopped working. don't worry about it. Gotta wait for blizzard to fix their stuff.. well the fix could work.

By fix do you mean the unplug cable/disable internet thing a mod has edited into the OP? or a certain file that must be installed or something like that?

SC2 is most likely connecting battle.net on startup and waits for a response that never comes (resources are most likely shifted to WoW temporarily). As stated earlier you can circumvent this hanging at that point by blocking SC2 from the Internet: either by unplugging your connection cable, or better via firewall or something similar. On Windows you can set up a blocking outbound rule for sc2\Versions\Base16939\SC2.exe, start up SC2, then disable the rule and login.

It seems to me like the client tries to contact a server that's down, and either fails to timeout or chokes on an unexpected answer. Can the same solution for this problem be achieved with a hosts file entry? If all it does is block the news on the login screen it's fine by me.
