I've tried uber expensive keyboards... but the money difference just isn't really worth it. Find a keyboard that clicks well and has responsive buttons and thats all you need imo

i use this one too, very good cheap and confortable

I have this, and I'm soooo used to it by now XD It's cheap, but it works perfectly. The only problem I have with it is that I've never bothered to clean it and have had it for a good 5-6 years.

Wow I'm impressed with how this thread has become some sort of base for keyboard/mouse discussion!

As I said a few months ago, I have a SteelSeries 7G (it uses Cherry MX Black switches) however after using it for a while, I now think it's more suited to the FPS or RPG player (those holding the keys down rather than pressing short and quickly).

Cherry MX Black switches seem to give more resistance to your fingers, making them ache more if you're playing a high APM game (a la Starcraft...); although in general mechanical keyboard terms they are pretty quiet, it's just becoming a bit too much of a strain for my hands as I'm a solid 150-200 APM player...

My problem is, I'm seriously considering spending another ~£100 to get a Filco Majestouch with Cherry MX Blues (heard great things about blues), but don't have anywhere near me (that I know of..) to test the switches out before buying, because, who knows... maybe Browns suit me better?

Can anyone who has experienced using Cherry MX Blacks, Blues and Browns give their opinion?

I'm also a web designer and java programmer, so typing plays a big role in my day-to-day lifestyle.. another thing I've heard Blue switches are favourable for..

Finally, take into account, I have quite small hands ( can't reach Shift+8 ) so also wondering if Filco keyboards offer anything different in that aspect compared tothe SS 7G?

Blues are amazing for typing, however for the environment I work in, the auditory feedback (loud click) will drive me and the people around me crazy, as such I settled with a Cherry MX Brown keyboard which is pure typing bliss and gaming. It clicks, but not too loud, and its tactile ( you can feel it)

I would go with Cherry MX Browns, if you can get a chance to try all three, go for it, but a hard and fast answer would be to go with Cherry MX Browns, not that Blues are bad. In fact Boxer himself uses a Filco Majestouch w/ Cherry MX Blues.

I suggest you check out some mechanical keyboard guides.

Im looking for a new keyboard, there is so much price difference between them, but i dont really know whats the difference between a 130$ razer or a random 50$ keyboard. I played on a cheap keyboard till now and made it into masterleague. What do you guys advice ?

Thanx in advance

If you're still doing fine with your keyboard, there really isn't any reason to switch.

But if you must get a new keyboard, the only way to go is mechanical. There's no benefit in any other rubber dome or membrane keyboard, they're pretty much all the same and you're just paying for bells and whistles.

A great mechanical keyboard will last you forever. Examples of these are the Rosewill RK-9000 and Razer BlackWidow (cherry blues), Filco and Leopold (cherry browns), and Steelseries 6Gv2 and 7G boards (cherry blacks).

Unless you're a purist, you probably won't need topre switches.

Check out my review on the Majestouch a page back or so, and read the guides that I posted on there. Hopefully that will give you a better opinion on what a mechanical keyboard is and what it could potentially do for you.

Hope this helps!

A generic keyboard from my local store, with extra buttons for play/pause, mute, volup/down, homepage etc stuff. Nothing great, but works like a charm never had a problem with it (suprising, considering it cost like 5LVL (10 bucks) or so)

Anyone know if there's any way to switch out the black keys on a 6gv2 for white ones like MKP's keyboard? Or do I have to get a FILCO or another one to be able to do that?

FILCO no longer use the Cherry switches, at least not from what I've seen. They've switched to Topre mechanism. I was looking at getting the Majestouch with the Cherry browns, so was kinda disappointed when I finally decided to grab one since I was kinda hooked on that particular switch type.

I ended up getting my SS 6Gv2 monday. I happen to use backslash a lot, so it's a little frustrating at first, but other than that, it feels great and the keyboard just looks solid. Really stupid decision to go back to the giant enter key and shorten the shift key to put backslash there, but I suppose I'm already getting used to it.

Only other complaint with the 6Gv2 is that the lettering on the keys are what appear to be decals or painted on. I get the feeling most of these will be nameless keys by the end of the month, but we'll see.

Who knows, maybe I'll find a Cherry brown keyboard I like and get another backup... you know... just in case.

flico uses cherry switches... you may be thinking just of elite keyboards .com? org? which will no longer be holding flicos but you can still buy flicos from other sites you'll just have to ship them internationally.

Ah, gotcha. I always defaulted to elitekeyboards because most of the other sites I found didn't ship internationally or prices were... well... international shipping...

If anyone in Canada needs to purchase a new keyboard, I have brand new Samsung Qsenn DT-35 from Korea. I have both white and black and selling them for $35 dollars each. [or $45 if you want to buy a checkered keyboard that looks something like this]

I just popped some of the black keys out a replaced them with keys from my white one. Now I have 2 sicc looking ones

This is the best non-mechanical keyboard on the market, and its so rare in NA.
If you are on a tight budget and need to get the job done you should send me a pm and we can talk more about it.

P.S - Many notable starcraft 2 players use this keyboard so you know this is reliable.
To name a few, Liquid-Ret, TLO, IMNestea, WemadeFoxMoon, DeMuslim.

Kinda off topic but anyone knows any steelseries retailer in NYC?

Any semi decent computer store will have steel-series products; along with their keyboards.

But i can't speak because i obviously dont live there. lol Just look up computer stores in the local phonebook and call?

Yeah i don' t live there either, i' m just going on vacation tomorrow and since steelseries products aren' t all that common in Greece i thought i' d just buy it from there, cheers man

The one attached to this macbook. Thanks to the command key whenever I now play on a PC I look like an octopus trying to play as I fumble around for the ctrl key.

I was going to buy that, but instead bought a Black Widow. Great keyboard.

I noticed alot of people complain about low profile keys not being good for RTS. Why is that? Personally I've always felt more comfortable with low profile keys so just wondering what I'm missing out on.
