$121.00 for this?? I mean WTF?! It looks like a default keyboard from dell, like 10$ not more. Whats so different for this KB?

Mechanical switches.

Read about them here:

http://www.elitekeyboards.com/support.php

Razer does have a new KB with mechanical switches for like 80 EUR. WIth lots more features, why get this one over the razer one? Pls no answer like "because razer sucks" blabla, thanks.

Cherry Blue switches are like the worst for gaming.

razer ratio of trying to be flashy compared to having useful stuff is 50:1

durability of razer products is not as good as most other well known brands

they try to make dumb people think ghosting still exists by saying "no ghosting" and then giving a description of something that is not related to ghosting.(this is just an example, they do that with multiple of their "amazing features")

i don't trust razer

razer sucks overall

Not really; I use cherry blues and they are just fine, pretty much the exact same thing as the browns, except for the click noise (which I am fine with). the main reason I'd get a filco over a razer keyboard is probably the durability and the NKRO rollover. Razer products aren't exactly the most long lasting, and NKRO is just plain useful and a must if you still use PS/2

I feel like blue switches make it harder to double tap because the release point is above the accentuation point. I guess you can get used to it. I think brown are the best

I had a steelseries 6gv2 and I loved it. Except I had to return it because '\' was not in it's usual place above 'enter' which severely messed me up when using the keyboard for work.

Right now I'm holding my breath for positive reviews on the razer blackwidow mainly because of the price point. If it ends up being a lemon, I'm going to splurge on a filco or das.

I use a Razer Orochi mouse along with—wait for it—the iMac keyboard that came with the computer ~6 years ago. No desire to get a new keyboard. In my opinion, what RTS players least need vis-à-vis peripherals is a gaming(read:"expensive") keyboard. The cheaper ones do just fine, and some would say better.

I use a das keyboard

I figure it's easier than having some fancy keyboard with REPROGRAMMABLE BUTTONS

So far it seems to be a pretty nice compact mechanical keyboard.

Pretty nice for a compact keyboard. Personally, I would be very annoyed with the moved home/end/del keys though.

My arrow keys are moved as well, but have no big issue with it:
[image loading]http://kbdholic.net/xe/kbd/355

One great thing I just realized about your Keyboard that's nice though, is that I realized you could use the numpad for end, home and delete. Except home is in a bad spot, but you could always re-bind it instead of insert.

Things that I like about my keyboard:
- Cherry Brown MX switches, which is why I got it
- It cost much cheaper than most people will ever pay for their mechanical keyboards.
- It has double-shot keys, which means the glyphs on the keys will never wear out until you almost wear a complete hole in the key
[image loading]Note that that picture is NOT using double-shots though

Things I don't like about my keyboard:
-The fact that the numpad is on the right side and not the left. Tenkeyless are nice, but I'd rather just have the keys moved. I don't care about the size, really, just positioning.
- Would have preferred more buttons instead of the touchpad. That or the touchpad moved to the right edge of the KB.
- I wish there was software that could interpret touchpad gestures (separate from the mouse, although maybe it wouldn't interfere with normal mouse use), or even press locations to emulate buttons would be excellent.
- Function keys are too far away from the rest of the KB, and there's even a space between the f12 row and f24 row. having the f24 row on the left side instead would be nice, like on old keyboards (or just numpad on the left as previously mentioned).
-Card-reader at the top is useless to me, although one can use it for security on their system. It adds to the size of the KB.

Very nice. I just don't like the non-US/NA layout. I think they
have US layouts though, right?

To all people talking about key rollover, I think it's not a very useful thig. First of all, all modern keyboards can press a ton of key at once, just not ANY combo of keys. Many rollover stats are mentioned as the worse possible number of keys combined, which will usually register only 2 keys out of 3, but aside from true NKRO there are some exceptions. Overall, most keyboards have pretty good alignment of the grid so that you won't run into any issues. Some keyboards do have the problem, but the only situation i see it being an issue is for games like Stepmania or FFR, and haven't customized your keys.

Anyway, that said, if somone's curious to test their rollover:

or

Can anyone advise me on this?

I type on my computer a lot because I do for a living. Initially I wanted a Logitech Illuminated Keyboard because it looks sleek and was designed specifically for typing. But then I got into SC2 and I'm worried the Illuminated Keyboard won't be as comfortable for SC2 gaming as compared to, let's say, the G15. Now the issue I have with G15 is it isn't as comfortable for typing as the Illuminated Keyboard. So now I'm in a pickle.

EDIT
Buying both is out of the question.

I have ctrl and the cmd keys switched because I'm used to using it for things like copy, paste, bold, and etc. (for hotkeys)

Ps. 27in i3 iMac, run it on bootcamp / windows 7, get about 30-40fps with utlra textures, and high everything else at 1920x1200.

I got a Steelseries 6gv2 a couple of days ago and it's really awesome. It's basically the same keyboard as the 7g, but without the surrounding plastic ans USB 1.1 ports. Mechanical keyboards ftw.

I've tried uber expensive keyboards... but the money difference just isn't really worth it. Find a keyboard that clicks well and has responsive buttons and thats all you need imo

This man speaks the truth.

I use this very same keyboard, and have no complaints with the button press, responsiveness or comfort level.

Also, it only takes up a little space on my desk, which is a bonus in my tiny room.

my keyboard is older! i love it. cept its ps/2... and is there anyway i can clean the gunk out of it?

There is absolutey nothing wrong with PS2 at all unless your computer is missing the PS2 socket (which as far as I know is impossible unless it's a laptop, or possibly ultra-small PC)
PS2 runs on interrupts instead of polling, which AFAIK make it more responsive, although it's milliseconds or less, so is completely indifferent, even for gamers. The other advantage to it is that it's the only way to truely support full N-Key rollover, because USB is limited to something like 6 keys + modifiers (although true N-key rollover is 100% useless for virtually any situation I can think of except 2 people playing a game like stepmania/FFR at the same time on the same keyboard, or possibly other "hotseat" games)

Anyway, to clean your keyboard, it shouldn't be hard to open up (which is how you should clean it). There are usually just tabs, or screws holding the board's case together. With tabs, you should push them in with something like a flat-head screwdriver, but if you can, use something softer (like a plastic screwdriver) since they are a bit fragile and will also scratch/dent a bit, but it's not that important.
You might need to unscrew screws instead, but that's easier, as long as you have the right screwdriver at least.

You can then pull off the keys with your fingers. Or carefully pry/pull them off with something home-made, or little pry bar.

Qsenn DT-35 all the way =]]. Really great keyboard, very reliable too

Also, play whatever you're most comfortable with, don't get gaming shit if you're not comfortable with it, it's all personal preference on what to play with, there is no "right or wrong" mouse/keyboard, just use what you're used too.
