As for that system; The 512MB graphics card means nothing, I'd need to know what make it is to know anything about it. Same with the CPU. Seems a bit overpriced though for something second hand. what should be looking for in the graphics card if i do look into this?

I was looking at Deconduo's post above mine and it seems like a good deal. But I was wondering if after I buy all the parts and put it all together do I still have to buy Windows for it? also does anybody know a good website that i can order from in Canada? I live in Kamloops BC. thanks EDIT- I also just found this computer on sale used and was wondering if its worth it since I'm clueless about computers. its $575 Canadian and is being sold because the internet cafe shut down. 2.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo 4 GB RAM 512 MB Video Card 250 GB Hard Drive DVD-RW Keyboard, Mouse, Speakers Windows 7 Home Premium theres also this laptop for $650 (not sure if a laptop is worth it since I'm not sure if it could be upgraded if needed) Intel Core i3 330 CPU 4 GB DDR3 RAM 640 GB 7200rpm HDD Radeon Mobility HD 5650 1 GB DDR3 (is this a 1GB video card?) 15.6″ LED LCD 802.11n Wireless internet 64-bit Windows 7 Home Premium also would it possibly be worth my time to buy a cheap computer (like $100) and just add ram and a video card? or would the motherboard have to be upgraded too? Yeah I'll second dec's comment. We really need to know the model number of the Video Card. It will pretty much make/break the deal. IMO, a Core2 system in 2010 should be bargain-priced. Try to get the motherboard, case, and PSU information as well. But again, really seems like blatant omissions on their part...and it is very suspicious why they would do that.

Have you made sure to remove the placeholder expansion bracket in the slot where the graphics card is going in to? Can you be more specific on exactly what case you have? Seems to be a mATX case which means it could be a bit tight spacewise, but you still should be able to get a graphics card in it.

I know that a desktop would allow for a better bang-to-buck ratio, but it really needs to be a laptop because he will also be using it to do work outside of his home from time to time. Neither of us have any clue as to what we should be getting, but I know there's a fount of knowledge on TL.net regarding what is needed to play SC2 well and the best way to get it. Any advice and/or recommendations would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

I am looking to build a computer that can run Starcraft 2 on High (1440x900) at the very least. I am also going to be using it for Photoshop and for video editing and rendering. I will be using Newegg.ca for the parts. My upgrade cycle is probably going to be around 3-4 years but I wont be using it for anything much more intensive than what is specified. It will probably be built in around 6months. So deals right now wont matter as much. :/ I will need Windows 7 either Professional or Ultimate. I don't know what you guys recommend. I don't plan on getting SLI or Crossfire. BUDGET: $1500ish. (so within $100) Thanks in advance for your help.

To put that in a list of most importance to lowest: 1) Can play SC2 at ultra with decent fps, doesn't matter at what resolution 2) Fits within the price range (600-800 CAD) 3) Reliable, won't need a lot of maintenance 4) High performance (GTX 460 and i5 750) Thanks

I can't afford to buy a computer right now (even a $500 one) but I was just browsing around anyway for fun to see what is out there and I saw that you can go on a payment plan from Dell. I was wondering how good Dell computers are and if which one of these would be the best to get if it is a good idea. http://www1.dell.com/ca/p/desktop-deals also would it just be better to get a Performance computer right off the bat? I wouldn't mind having a laptop but how quick would they go obsolete? http://www1.dell.com/ca/p/performance-laptop-deals (performance laptop deals) http://www1.dell.com/ca/p/performance-desktop-deals (desktop deals) i noticed that it didn't say anything about video cards in the desktop deals either. i also dont really need a monitor (but if they're really good i wouldn't mind one) also dont need the blue ray player but I wouldn't mind your guys' advise on that too.
