So what do I start to check to see the culprit? I get a high number of pagefaults because of Security Essentials at the moment but not sure if thats the only thing causing me freezing or not.

Those page faults are nothing worrying. That's related to how programs and the OS manage files and memory nowadays, not just RAM size and the page file like in the past.

My benchmark for example, it's less than a minute long but i have to run it on average like 4 or 5 times to get a run that doesn't have a 0.5-2second stutter in it, just cause it's a thing that happens in sc2 every few game minutes

Just stuff like LLC. I already said btw, use turbo or second highest LLC setting as a baseline. When people quote voltages they do so assuming you are using a moderate LLC level

Sc2 is known to stutter like a bitch especially if you have not already ran through all of the models/animations/sounds etc, but even then some if you have. Ill run another memtest while im out for the night and come back tomorrow to trouble shoot based on the tips here I guess. Oh well, as long as I can sort it out eventually ![]()

did there are screenshots of llc setting from my testing so far llc doesnt do shit for me and gone back to 4,2 currently as its stable without whea etc and heat in ibt is pretty okay, 72c with 1.28 vc, gonna try to lower voltage tomorrow again, wanna play some games now but a couple of days ago testing without llc on (it is on now) 1.28vc was the lowest stable 4.2ghz for my setup and if i wanna go to 4.3 i need to go to 1.365 to make it p95 stable but whea error...so well not so stable ^^

Why do people overclock with Turbo ratio's instead of setting CPU multiplier? Just for using offset volts?

nice system, top exhaust or intake? is it worth it? still debating if i put a fan in that top space, have one lying around but temps currently doesnt seem worth it. how noisy is your rig?

Just for using offset volts? Those settings in the screenshots are like that because I started out by copying the settings from my previous ASRock board. Simply setting 46 multiplier and disabling turbo multipliers, it seems to be very similar. The CPU still slows down to 1600 MHz. VID also still goes up and down depending on what's running, so offset still works just like with turbo multiplier. I was imagining seeing more in-between speeds like 2.5 GHz showing up in CPU-Z when turbo multipliers were used. I want Windows to have all possible power savings stuff available to work with, so that's why I don't want to disable turbo multipliers without knowing for sure it's the same.

It's exhaust, and it's kinda important to have good airflow. For me this means 1-2 front intakes, bottom intake, top 170mm exhaust and probably 120mm back exhaust (though i might throttle them a bit from max speed for more positive pressure etcetc) It's really quiet actually, GPU under max load or HDD spinning up are both several times louder than all of the CPU and case fans put together flying at max RPM

The Questions + Show Spoiler + My budget is ~$1450 with tax/shipping (credit card limit). If something would be a worthwhile upgrade I would have to buy it maybe a week later. My computer resolution is 1920x1080, with a second monitor at 1280x1024. I plan on waiting for the 760 before purchasing my graphics card, so please skip graphics card for this build. I'm going to be using the computer for gaming, and I would like the potential to stream games. The games I play are Planetside 2 (CPU Heavy), Starcraft 2, Borderlands 2 My upgrade cycle will almost assuredly be an entire new build 2+ years later. I can purchase the parts immediately, assuming everything fits within the aforementioned budget of ~$1450. I plan of doing some overclocking, but nothing too major. I figure a decent aftermarket air-based heatsink should be good enough for my needs. I will need an operating system. I do not plan to SLI or Crossfire for this build. There are no reasonably-priced local stores where I live (FUTURESHOP LOL), so everything will have to be purchased online. Notes on storage: -I would like to shoot for at least 8GB of RAM (I think that's standard nowadays anyway) as my current computer of 4GB actually starts maxing out when I play Planetside 2. -I will be keeping my current Hard drive of 1TB -My sister will want a 500GB hard drive -I will want a SSD around 128 GB -My sister wants a SSD around 64 GB Thank you very much!

I read somewhere that when you don't have a blower card, but rather one that simply sends air around the interior case, that it's better to have negative pressure. Can anyone back that up or refute it?

If you want to spend remainder of your budget, here are some options:

And another budget option: Faster RAM. It gives surprisingly big and easy returns for CPU bound stuff, sc2, ps2, live encoding for streaming UK, but for example: http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-002-AR Random pick. £20 (~$30) more than the cheapest ddr3 8gb 1600mhz but 2400cas10 - and you have something like a 10-15% minimum fps increase vs 1600 in sc2 pretty damn easily. It seems harder to get good RAM in the US, which is a shame, but it's still a powerful option
