I rock the game with high textures, 3D Unit portraits, high effects, 1440x 900 resolution, but set shaders to I believe it was low. Looks very good, but like a totally different game than at higher shaders. Gets 60 FPS.

Starcraft II is very CPU dependent. My old 8800 GTS 640 MB couldn't run it maxed, but could run most things high enough that the stuff that was off, like SSAO, don't really look that different.

What laptop is this??

I can run it on high with my laptop, but as people have said before, the difference seen on medium vs high is so small its not worth the performance drop on some of the larger maps such as 4v4 or nexus wars.

i have 4gigs of ram
Nvidia 3200m series 2 gigs vram
intel 2.2 dual core

2.66GHz Core2Duo (T9500)
4GB DDR3
Radeon Mobility 4650 (1GB)
320GB 7200RPM HDD
Win7 64bit Professional.

I ran fine on med-high graphics (customized) but often play on low to prevent the game from chopping up if Windows decides it needs to steal some processing power.

MBP Mid 2010
Core Duo 2,4 Ghz
4 GB Ram
Nvidia Geforce 320m

Playing Windows version under Bootcamp. Settings to medium or even high are possible.
But I prefer medium/low setting for getting a steady 60 fps.

I play on a mix of High/Medium settings for playability. Certain situations (eg zerg on Metalopolis and other very large battles slow me out of Ultra settings):

2.53GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, I forget how much RAM I'm running
Nvidia 9300M GS (256MB VRAM DDR2)
Windows 7
1280x800

I purchased my notebook about two years ago and literally got the smallest notebook possible which still had a dedicated video card (Asus U6V with a 12.1-in widescreen). As small as the screen is, I have no problem playing SC2 on it and love that I can play anywhere easily.
Race? No, I'm equally bad with all of them.

Well, I dont game that much on my laptop unless I travel somewhere far to game. I can play SC2 on High, but I find it much smoother on low .

Okay first off, when i created my first thread i didn't realize it would cost so much to get a high-end laptop that can play sc2, i mean you can build a computer for 600 and be able to run sc2 on ultra, so i figured 700 might be able to run it on atleast high right? wrong, unless you get a very good deal, you won't be able to get a high end laptop for anything under 900. that is why i changed my opinion on things and decided to wait a few more weeks to save up a few more hundred and just get one for around $1000-$1200

second, the fact that i want to run it on a laptop on ultra settings is not ridiculous at all, i have the money to purchase a good enough laptop that will be able to do everything i want and then some so why shouldnt i?

third, why even bother bringing up the fact that i wont be able to upgrade when i know full well that i wont need to upgrade, you do realize that i asked for a "SC2 LAPTOP" read it carefully and you will see that i want the laptop strictly for S C 2.

fourth, I do security overnights and all i do is just sit at a lobby, i've been running sc1 on my netbook for forever now and i thought this would be a great time to buy a new laptop since sc2 is being released, it's not going to be "cumbersome" due to the fact that it is PORTABLE
. I simply want to bring it to work so i can play it, does it really matter if it's big or heavy? as long as i have a desk than i should be fine, right?

Hey famz, can you do me a favor and pm me the deal or laptop you eventually go with? I would really appreciate your view cause I may be adding a laptop to my gaming rig list a couple weeks after release so I could use a starting guide.

Thanks man.

Either that or i'll just follow this thread, but just in case that be great.

Once i figure out what i'm going to get i'll PM you and update this thread, I'm also going to post a little review about it so it'll help other people in the future. I'm waiting for the end of this week which is july 4th to decide though, since i heard newegg and other major retailers have some pretty nice sales. I'm already looking at one laptop that is amazing but i'm still on the edge of pulling the trigger which is this one

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834127055

I'm just not sure if this will run on ultra since it has a 330M, but i do know for a fact that 360M will. and the one thing that is great about this laptop is the keyboard, island keyboards in my opinion are the best types for RTS strategy games like sc, i could hardly play sc1 on my netbook without accidentally hitting a different key more then half the time i played. with the island keyboard that's not a problem, all you need is a mousepad and mouse and you're good to go. but like i said before i really want to wait til july 4th and see what types of deals are going to be out, saving even 100 for an i7 laptop would be a good deal.

I have the f12 and it has the 330M and I can run sc2 on ultra settings with no lag.

I just recently bought a very nice Acer laptop for a rough 850€.

Acer Aspire 5740G 15.6"WXGA
Radeon HD5650, Intel Core i5-430, 4GB RAM, 640GB HDD, DVD±RW,

Runs it at ultra almost perfectly, it's wicked.

EDIT: Yeah, not clocked at all, aswell. I've got my stationary for that.

cost a pretty penny but it can hold its own with most desktops out there.

Hello

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?id=cat13504&type=page&pageIdentity=searchDriven&useProductString=true&productString=1218207311895*1218199529790*1218206183902&unProductString=1218165344675*1218205766476*1218204946500*1218204534081*1218202914651*1218202949239*1218202472755*1218202473024&catId=

I'm probably gonna buy one of these three. I was eying the middle because it's cheap + 17in screen, but I see the vid card is simply 'Intel HD'. Do I just forget it based on that?? This is a laptop for just work/bs and SC2--no other games. This was the 4th option I was looking at:

AMD Turion X2 ultra duel core mobile zm- 82 2.2ghz
4gig ram
win 7 32
radeon mobility hd4570 + hd3200 gfx

I have texture quality on med, but shaders, lighting and shadows on low. The rec spec is all mediums, but i find it really lags mid game.

How I wish my custom built laptop hadn't imploded, even at 3 years old the gfx card blew this piece of shit away.

I ended up buying this:

http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Toshiba - Satellite Laptop / Intel® Core™ i7 Processor / 16" Display / 4GB Memory / 640GB Hard Drive - Slate/9992966.p?id=1218206183902&skuId=9992966

$929
Toshiba - Satellite Laptop / Intel® Core™ i7 Processor / 16" Display
4GB ram
Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit
NVIDIA GeForce 310M (512MB GDDR5 (discrete); up to 1758MB (dynamically allocated shared graphics memory using NVIDIA TurboCache technology); 2270MB total)

Runs perfectly at medium. I didn't do much tweaking yet. I bumped up minor details last night (spec effects and stuff). I'm gonna try it on high later.

The only thing is this thing overheats like a motherfucker. Don't play on your lap. It will crash. All good when it's on a desk or table or something.
