The quietest cards are probably the HD 5770 and the HD 5850 (reference), and the Toxic versions.

Otherwise, I would choose the first AM3 platform for upgradeability because the Phenom II X6 Thubans are good for threaded applications which should be more prevalent in the future (100% speculation). The AM3 may also support the AMD Bulldozer cores in the future, so that should be considered as well.

Most benchmarks are proceeding as I would expect them to though. However it's safe to conclude that this is not a gamer CPU! (At least not until games become multithreaded).

It's good to see that AMD is finally at least competitive with the i7/i5 line since the new 6 cores win in the heavily threaded programs like movie encoding and stuff. Gaming is a bit lackluster though

I'm interested in what's causing these freezes as they're anoying as fuck. Is my ram holding me back? CPU? Should I get a new graphics card? Or is it an overall issue with everything and I should just buy a new pc?

Ftrunkz your machine should be perfectly capable at Low. Not sure what could cause it. Does the game stall in any other games?

Sc2 also takes like 2 minutes to close and sometimes just completely crashes while closing an I have to restart, alt tabbing also takes an eternity, but the game has never crashed on me midgame, only froze for up to 10 seconds, my pc is recently formatted too. ![]()

Despite the fact it does support pixel shader 2.0? Is that not the only requirement in a graphics card for starcraft 2? I can run it on a crappy Dell inspiron 6000, but i can't use that graphics card for this desktop?

running on: CPU: Pentium D 3.40 GHz RAM: 1 Gig GFX: Geforce 9500 GT seems to be so much worse after the recent patches.. the game is barely playable. i'm not sure if it's because the game is much more resource intensive lately or if my computer has finally bit the dust T_T either way i guess it's time for some upgrades.
