I can hardly think of a more one-sided legends matchup than IdrA vs MC.. IdrA hasn't played at all afaik since his retirenent and MC looked really in shape at the gamers8 showmatch 3 years ago

But omg back in the day their matchup and the banter was so much fun. I'm excited for it. MC probably going to do some crazy celebration after he wins.
But to your point, would have loved to see idra in SC1 vs some other retired legend. Maybe throw him against whitera or grrr or elky or something I don't know, even though half were before his time it would still be cool and I think he would have a better shot.
|
I remember when nalr_ra first came back to trying to compete with the Old Boy series, and how rusty he was... Gosh, it's been SO long since then even. I can't imagine this going well for him. Boxer is forever. Still, pretty cool!
|
SUGGESTION TO BLIZZ: on the off chance they read this, don't just have IdrA up for one match then done. Throw him on the desk. Remember, after he retired he was a caster and a lot of people liked his commentary. Really, it will be fan service just to hear him and Artosis talking after all these years. He can cast SC2 or SC1 too. Heck, I would love if artosis picked his brain on what he thought of the new metas, crazy zerg, etc if he's seen any of that. And the fact Flash is still competing and dominating who he used to look up to.

You can give me a BoxeR showmatch any day.
|
dont look idra vs MC with competitive eyes but with nostalgic ones, reminiscense of the good old days that all of us still cherish

I'll be watching, less for the game itself and more for the drama.

Noooooo way, Idra vs. MC?! Oh man, this will be a blast from the past, hahaha.
Of course, Idra will have no chance whatsoever, but this will make it only all the more true to history. Should be a beautiful trainwreck.

I loved watching Nal_Ra old boy documentary, and as a fan of the best KT (SKT T1) seeing Boxer is awesome too. As for IdrA vs MC, maybe they over did with the zerg buffs so IdrA could stand a chance, but otherwise MC was simply a better player even when they were both active, so it should be one sided

Hope he is wearing his Gracket
|
oh my god, Nal_rA and BoxeR. Blizzard you couldn't have picked a more legendary matchup. This hits right in the feels for us who grew up watching these guys play.
|
Despite the dreadfully lopsided match-up, it is lovely to see IdrA being acknowledged.
Or should I say, gracknowledged?

Very hyped for the brood war match. Does anybody know what format it is going to be?

Oh my, I didn't know IdrA was playing at all. Well, now is a good time to blow dust from Fear of the Grack.

It would be sweet if they did multiple SC1 throwback matches with a few more old pro gamers. Elky vs Grrrr or NaDa vs fOru etc. Maybe bring back some of the WCG champions.

SC Matches are hype, damn IdrA lol
BoxeR lets GOOOOOOO!!!!!!
|
Not really hype about any of the matchup
But BossToss got this easy pz

welcome to 2010!!! it's only been 16 years

Oh it seems there is a reason to comeback and watch blizzcon :0
|
Lol, The starcraft 2 match should be idrA vs Huk
|
BoxeR, Nal_rA, IdrA, and MC! Wow! <3
|
I haven't watched a game in like five years, but I'll always make time for the Gracken and BossToss

IdrA is terrible choice for such a match - a player known for basically ending his career by spitting into the face of collective community should rightfully be forgotten. I'd much rather see Jinro vs MC who not only was (likely still is) such a charming person but also actually managed to eliminate MC on grand stage.

I wasn't expecting Grack to show up :O

@nimdil
I honestly dont remember much about his departing. I just remember that showmatch in broodwar a couple of years back, with Nony and such, there he was quite nice? Really just curious what you mean?
In general I am interested in the Heroes of the Storm Stuff, although maybe I am all alone with that :-D

IdrA
you can probably dig source post on TL.net but I will lend you a hand: https://tl.net/forum/viewpost.php?post_id=18525876

Thank you for the work and the links

Idra was a rather BM guy who also tended to leave games early after the slighest setbacks.

I like Idra, and have met the man which was a pleasant experience.
I just dunno how competitive he can be versus MC given he stopped playing so long ago, and MC kept going for a good bit longer. Not to an absolutely elite level but it was pretty clear from the Gamers 8 show matches that MC had played a good bit of Legacy and was still pretty good.

Why out of all the proscene was IdrA invited, out of all the players they could have invited? IdrA was never really that great challenge for MC - he basically always lost to MC. HuK would be better, if they wanted a bad boy - Naniwa would have been better. Stephano would be a lot better. Nerchio probably would be better. Snute would be better.
Unless they really wanted US player in which case - yea, before Neeb there was IdrA.

When was the last time Idra made a public appearance?
|
That Invitational some years back with nony, idra and a couple of others, cant remember the name of the tournament/invitational, was mit Artosis and Tasteless and such. Some form of celebration? broodwar i think. Cant find it on youtube.

Well he was entertaining. No doubt about that. And maybe he'll be practising for the showmatch Lil'Bow style

Whether people like it or not, IdrA is a part of the history of SC2 and one of its most recognisable figures, and at one point he was one of the best foreigners. The way he departed the scene was pretty bad though, I'm not denying that. That being said, I think we can cut him some slack as he was still pretty young back then, and it's been over a decade since.

MC has the chance to raise the biggest cheer ever if he hallucinates a bunch of void rays. He'll probably be building a bunch of sentries anyway
|
Holy shit BoxeR are you kidding me!? I hoped for this but I can't believe he's making his return (and straight into ASL23 I hope...). They better play on a map where he can do his mine trick lol. Nal_rA is also awesome, that documentary is goated.
GenG without Rich is pretty lame... and also if they're playing on the live version it's gonna be totally different so meh.
|
How did they drag IdrA into this lol.
