Several hours ago, owner of Chinese starcraft2 team DPGaming said they're going to sign their 3rd foreign player. According to TSG manager Cloudy's saying, It would be Cure. Source
update: Got new information from scboy.xiaose during his casting tonight (GTM+8) that JAGW is facing trouble renewing their player's contracts (at least for some of the players, e.g. Cure and Creator I believe) since the team is cutting costs and cannot provide reasonable offers to them. So it is now a good chance for other teams, especially for some Chinese teams like DPG or KZ which can offer a lot.

Does that mean something big has happened to the SC2 division of JAGW? Or does this simply mean that JAGW didn't re-sign Cure for 2020? (To be honest, I'm also worried for Creator if Cure was not able to continue to stay on JAGW)

if cure is gone im pretty sure all of jin air sc2 is gone. they are loyal to their players.
but i dunno if the rumor is true. didnt they just sign rex? i feel like only scboy is reliable with their chinese leaks

wasn’t Rex just signed for china team league (because one needs at least 1 chinese player per team per match)?
also maybe cure wanted the change and jin air wanted to hold him, we will have to wait and see what happens i guess^^

(Cuz some Chinese teams can provide good offers, like DPG signed Dark for 4000 usd/month)

No offense to Cure but he hasn't produced any decent results in the past couple years. If JAGW wants to trim the fat, of course they will cut Cure and probably Creator next.
I hate to say this but SC2 scene in KR is pretty much dead. No new blood. A ton of high-profile players are leaving due to military service. Even the returned players like FanTaSy are done with SC2. Everyone knows SCBW is actually more popular than SC2 in KR. GSL is still going simply because of Blizzard. Paying salary and housing for 5 progamers in a game that has no publicity and visibility in the market is not a good investment in KR. May as well trim it down to 3 so at least they can continue to support SC2.

Try to remember what Maynard said about positivity in the scene, it helps a lot. I also think, that it is much more likely, that Cure was the one taking the inicitive here..

I'm pretty sure Cure leaving Jin Air would simply be the fact DPG is owned by billionaires and can just pay him more than he gets right now, sitting below Maru, Rogue, sOs & Trap while still being a great player.
Feels more likely to be DPG offering Cure a good deal rather than Jin Air letting players loose.

You're right, check my update.

Last remaining KeSPA team having trouble retaining players because they can get more money elsewhere. Not exactly what one would have expected. Unless this is because JA are cutting costs.
China saving SC2! New season of the team league is going to be sick.
Chinese team flairs when?

Are there any other news/rumours about other new chinese teams yet?

Yes, there's another rumor given by xiaose that an unknown Chinese LPL club is considering to establish their sc2 team and they're looking for players, but I doubt there are enough players for them to choose right now since regular season of CTC is being played online so signing players from America or Europe isn't a good idea.
And in case you guys need: Firefly --> DPG confirmed. TY --> TSG 99% chance (only one step from official announce).

Good for Cure if he can get some more money!
The chinese team owners are rich, it makes sense that JAGW can not make a higher offer if you look at the popularity of sc2 in Korea.
Edit: Damn TY getting poached from Splyce too?

Cure has been doing pretty well recently. Hopefully he gets a good offer.

Splyce are shutting down their SC2 division as part of some bigger reorganisation. This was announced a while ago.
But I thouht TY to TSG was already confirmed. In any case, good to see its close now. Hope they get Stats too to reunite the Splyce bois.

Stets is going to the army next year, TY himself is most likely a replacement for herO who's leaving.

Feels more likely to be DPG offering Cure a good deal rather than Jin Air letting players loose. Pretty much, makes a lot more sense than JAGW cutting Cure anyway, especially if they’re keeping Creator around.
Might not even be purely a salary thing either, perhaps they’re offering Cure more freedom to travel to and participate in various foreign events or something like that too.

Regarding my previous post OP saying rumours that JAGW may actually be cutting back costs was an update that occurred after making my thoughts known, so that may well change things somewhat.

the hit rate on these chinese scene rumors is pretty high (except that INnoVation got reprimanded for sucking CTC thing XD)
wouldn't surprise me if it were true

What foreign events? oO Cure was just missing at ROG IIRC. He was at Katowice and HSC.

But nah point taken, it’s not like the days when MC was going to every tournament going, if which there were many, didn’t really engage my brain there.

Maru doesn't like to travel, so he was a stand in, but probably from the HSC side of things
