From iNcontroL’s Twitter: To offer some solace in this time of grief: We've learned that Geoff passed quickly and painlessly from a blood clot in his lungs. He was with friends. He always urged and led us by example to take care of ourselves to the best of our ability. Remember to do that for him today. | ||

It's heartbreaking to know a pillar of the BW/SC2 scene passed away without so much as a warning. A tragedy that couldn't have happened to a better man. Incontrol was an icon for all the right reasons - immensely giving, knowledgeable, irrelevant, hilarious, a true inspiration. Watching him in the early days of SC2 inspired me to get into the game and eventually become a writer here. All my condolences to his family and friends in this hard time. | ||

This day just got so much worse  I actually can't accept this.Condolences to his family, SC2 lost a great figure today. Geoff is a Legend, may God rest his soul. R.I.P | ||

Other casters and hosts sometimes do this as well, but this was really a priority for him and he made sure to bring up difficult stuff and hash it out with clarity and level-headedness whenever he felt it could help to do so. And he could always struck that tone between seriousness of the subject matter and light-heartedness of delivery, that many people couldn't help but take his advice. In this way, he has been crucial to the resiliency of the scene as he created such a positive and welcoming space around him that would keep bringing people back. This was a gift to us. He certainly could have gone on to greater fame in more popular media arenas, there is no question about that. He had that level of talent and he chose to share it with us. This scene is going to struggle mightily to fill his many roles, but each one of us are going to have to step up to this task if we are to retain the InControl spirit. | ||
