A triple-header of Code S round of 32 groups saw Classic and Trap advance from Group B, GuMiho and Cure advance from Group C, while sOs and Bunnyadvanced from Group D.
In one first major upsets of the tournament, BlizzCon runner-up Stats was eliminated as the last place player in his group. The GSL also attracted interest for the return of old-school legends MC and PartinG, but neither was able to advance to the round of 16.
AfreecaTV recently confirmed that the 2019 season of GSL will have a virtually identical format as 2018, with three more GSL Code S tournaments headlining the year.
Next week will feature another trio of RO32 groups, with Maru, Scarlett, INnoVation, soO, and TY among the players set to play. (check out Liquipedia for more information).

We'll see. All the matchups seems to be quite different from what they were last year and we've seen a lot of different games from all previous groups so far.

So far it is more like a bad year for Stats. Interesting to see all the Terrans go through though, considering the foreign Terrans seem to have a lot of problems with Protoss.

Ah yah, you´re right, i did not mean "all the terrans," maybe i should have said "all these terrans?" Still Gumi and Cure over Stats, and Bunny over Solar are at least a bit surprising to me. All three terrans have always had the potential, but i did not expect all three of them to go to the Ro16.

Other than Solar, we haven't seen any Zerg players who you'd expect to make the ro16 fail to. Zerg in Korea has been Rogue, Dark, soO, Solar, and a lot of inconsistent players for awhile, but before you feel too bad, Zerg players hold the 4 longest active Code S streaks and 5 of the top 6.

Not a single Code S champion in LoTV with only Rogue and Serral winning a GSL title; very little red these last years! Still six Zerg to go this season but I would expect other Rogue, soO and at least another one to get to ro16.
