Under normal circumstances I'd call it weird that this tournament announcement is the first news we get about WCS 2019. But this is WCS, and I wouldn't be shocked if the official announcement was still like a month away.

I cannot wait to see how 2019 starts. Looking forward to it.

*Still split on Serral's invites. Is he going to be invited and seeded into everything this year? That'll get old for me fast.

Rogue was invited to Katowice last year too, so it's consistent.

And let's be honest, unless Serral drops off massively, he would qualify for everything this year anyway.

Great! Best weekender in SC returns.

Seems like everything is the same as last time.

Super hyped, might actually make the trip to Katowice this time, would be a great opportunity to finally visit Poland.
Maru and Serral are probably top 5.

For me it isn't about whether or not he would qualify nor about Rogue being invited to Katowice last year, it feels Serral's invites have become "trendy" by the end of this year going into next year. If it starts to happen constantly, I'll get sick of it which, who cares, but I also think there's something to be said about the competition and storylines that happen from tough qualifiers and that taking strong players out of every qualifier could be worse for the competition as a whole. Imo, removing challenges (tough players) for other players gives them fewer things to overcome, fewer opportunities to learn and get better. I also think it's a shame to remove the opportunity for an (unlikely, sure) upset to happen in the qualifiers even if the tournament organizers and a lot of viewers would be disappointed if it happened.

I'm not saying it's false that the qualifiers could be more competitive when such a dominant player is removed from them and more room is made for other players, but I think it's bad to do constantly for a lot of reasons and I worry that it's going to become a constant thing.

Pretty sure he still has to qualify for all the WCS circuit events through challenger or show up for the open bracket, he still would have to qualify for any GSL event maybe there is a 2nd IEM event he gets invited to then the rest are stuff like nation wars and Homestory cup and ofc Blizzcon where you have to qualify.

Finally! I was worried about lack of SC2 during IEM Katowice next year... but when it comes to StarCraft - POLSKA never fails!

I dont think that we can have better playoffs than last year ( matchs and race distribution + one foreigner ).

Scene when the terran from JA wins it.

Nice!
Still a bit disapointed Serral is invited but it's not a big deal.

He was invited to what? WESG and HSC? very trendy.... It's insane to gloss over how IEM always invites the World Champion.
