A new version of the GSL Code S groups was published with 5 players, (Z)Leenock, (T)Bunny, (T)jjakji, (Z)Impact and (Z)RagnaroK on a new team, TitanEX1. Not much is known about this team and the signings have gone under the radar but both Impact and Bunny have confirmed it on twitter.

I hope it works out for the players, though this team seems a bit odd to say the least. TitanEX1's entire online presence is a one man show organized by this keaneu guy. They do have an address in Seoul so I guess someone could check it out.

I have a bad feeling about this. Googling TitanEX1 brings this thread up first so this company/organization/whatever it is is basically invisible. I hope we don't have another LYGF situation on our hands, but it's definitely a possibility.

It reminds me more of Sonic & SBENU. A young, rich guy with an interest in esports and money to burn.

There's no product yet in this case though. TitanEX1 has a little code on GitHub, some data mining stuff you can see on Twitch, a few mostly empty websites, everything managed by this one person, and that's all.

Currently there isn't any evidence that there is any money, though they do list an office address "중구 명동2길 34, 9층 9141호 (충무로1가,케이티명동빌딩" which doesn't look like its supposed to be just a mailing address like the other Singapore address. Someone in Seoul could check that out, and if there's actually an office there (or at least the office space is payed for) they probably have the money to pay the players.

There's a lot of skepticism regarding this team and I agree with it to some extent. Everyone (players included) have seen a lot of teams come and go in SC2 throughout the years. Team scams are well known so I highly doubt these players could be seriously ripped off unless they went in foolishly without a decent payment plan/schedule.

It's possible that this team could go under randomly one day but if the players are paid in the meantime I say go for it.
(◕‿◕✿) Hopefully one day a decent caster http://www.youtube.com/LaughNgamez (◠‿◠✿)

knowing Impact was part of Axiom and is close with Crank and Olimoley who would not allow him to join some scam team(I hope) I'm inclined to believe this is legit.

I hope I'm correct.

Notwithstanding disbeliefs, I can understand where most of you come from. Been around here just for the scene about nearly 4 years now and have known rapid, tosis, et al quite a bit. Most of us when given a choice would prefer to telecommute with necessary tools now cheaply obtainable off-the-shelf. More about myself in relation to SC2 AI: http://starcraftgym.com and http://wiki.sc2ai.net/List_of_community_members . I skew opinions and amalgamate ideas of a Discord group backed by Blizzard, DeepMind, NVIDIA employees.

That's very interesting. Few years ago, I was looking into developing some RTS agents, there was a lot of support and some nice API for SC1, so I've tried that, but since I don't know much about that game, debugging was a nightmare, it's really nice to see there is some groundwork laid out for SC2, I'll check it out, add something if I find the time, thanks a lot for all your efforts!

Obviously naver translate or something was used and I don't fault you for that at all. I guess my question would be what kind of support are you giving the players? I understand if you don't want to give exact terms of contracts if there are any, but what are you doing for them? Do they get a team house provided? Meals? A small salary or stipend?

I understand gamer salaries can be incredibly low ($500-1000/month?), so it's not unbelievable for a relatively high net worth individual creating a team when the demand for players is low. However, I think the biggest tell of legitimacy is whether the players have been paid or have been receiving any sort of compensation yet. If keaneu or one of the players could confirm that, a lot of this thread will be put to rest and congratulations will be given without cease.

Team gets prize money, doesn't pay players, then TL says, "GUYS WE COULDN'T HAVE KNOWN" calling it.
If all men were created equal there would be no reason to declare it.

Ok let's assume there isn't actually any money, even though the players thought there was some. What difference does it really make? It's not like they have a bunch of other opportunities waiting for them?

Edit:
I suppose, yes, it's possible if they are foolish and let their prize earnings go through the team first, then they can lose something out of it.

Posting a follow-up here: I met the guy from TitanEX1 today and talked with him for a while at GSL. I've known him for a while and he's a great guy who's super passionate about Starcraft. The sponsored players help test and work on their AI learning software for SC2. It's a pretty sweet deal that helps players like Leenock focus on just training for GSL.

That's really cool, thanks for the update Rapid

Great to hear that this team is legit. Thanks for verifying, Rapid.

With an artificial intelligence startup esports team, that's exactly what I expected would be the case. Cool to hear, hopefully good things come out of it all.
