Heading into the final week, three players had already locked up positions in Fast Lane. And, while all three had hopes of earning the automatic spot in Premier, (T)Bunny had the easiest road. While he faced off against (T)jjakji in the second match of the day, (Z)soO and (T)ByuN were set to bring Challenge to a close with a ZvT that could see either of the players end up anywhere between first and third place.

(Wiki)2017 StarCraft II StarLeague Season 2/Challenge

Able to make the quicker switch into roaches, (Z)Impact capitalized on (Z)Rogue's faster lair by killing Rogue's third. He lost most of his army, but reloaded on more roaches to take a 1-0 lead.

Impact opted for a 12 pool on Abyssal Reef, killing Rogue's natural while taking his own. Having droned up, he applied pressure with zerglings, once more preventing Rogue from expanding while adding on a roach warren. Rogue spotted the roaches moving out and promptly conceded.

Impact got the better end of the build orders as he opened three hatchery before pool against Rogue's hatchery first. He was unable to parlay the advantage into a victory however, as Rogue killed a number of queens before sealing the deal with a roach/ling attack on Impact’s third.

Impact once more opened three hatchery before pool on Odyssey, only to be met by a 13/12 from the Jin Air Zerg. Rogue pooled his zerglings before moving across the map unhindered, killing 17 workers and sending things to a deciding match.

Rogue went for a quick third on Frost, while Impact decided on a faster lair, roach warren and upgrades. Rogue's zerglings denied Impact's third and kept him at home, which allowed Rogue to drone, build up a massive army and close the series out with an attack at Impact's third.

(T)Bunny appeared to be in a favorable spot in game one, but an unwise attack up a ramp and into (T)jjakji’s tanks erased his advantage. Jjakji leaned on Bunny from there, chipping away at his economy before ultimately mopping up his army to go ahead 1-0.

Bunny won a lengthy game two on Frost that saw neither players get beyond three bases. jjakji traded his bio into Bunny's mech over and over, but kept getting worse trades, leading to an eventual concession.

jjakji's early tank push forced a lift on Bunny's third command center on Ascension to Aiur, but it did little else as Bunny worked his way up to an authoritative mech army. Up four bases to three, he pushed across the map, winning an easy fight to take a 2-1 lead.

Bunny killing jjakji's command center was the first real action in game four. jjakji saved his SCVs however, something Bunny failed to do as he lost his own third. Having taken a sizable lead, jjakji dropped both of Bunny's bases before putting an end to things with a final siege.

Jjakji's marine drop and cyclone push killed 12 of Bunny's workers. He followed that up with a doom drop that gave him a 20 supply lead. Bunny went for his own doom drop, but jjakji had the same idea. jjakji eliminated Bunny's production while defending at home to take the match 3-2.

(T)ByuN opened the series with a hellbat push, but (Z)soO held with minimal losses. ByuN slowed soO by canceling his fourth, but was unable to stop him from building a large ling/bane/muta army. When ByuN pushed out again, he was routed and and tapped out soon after.

soO's pool first got him up to three bases safely, but ByuN ratcheted up the harassment with drops and auto turrets. soO tried to defend with ling/bane/hydra, but was pulled apart on four bases, evening the series.

ByuN opened with hellions and a fast third command center on Newkirk Precinct. soO was allowed to macro as he liked. Just as ByuN was poised to attack soO's fourth, soO’s mutalisks and zerglings killed 25 workers at ByuN’s third, giving him a lead he parlayed into a win.

soO’s roach/ravager timing contained ByuN, allowing soO to build a superior economy. From there soO traded favorably over and over with ling/bane/muta. The appearance of five swarm hosts signalled the end for ByuN, who left as his army met a grisly fate to banelings.

It seems that there'll be a season 2018.

That reddit thread... Looks like a lot of people watching sc2 aren't watching any team athletics, for example ice hockey and football/soccer. Every team faces the other teams in a season, with a playoff where the top team from the season has an advantage over the others.

I guess because they got money for individual match wins too.
Why so serious?

First stage money:

100,000 KRW * Number of Map wins (Minimum of 500k, even with fewer than 5 map wins)

ByuN went 8-1, so 800k
soO went 6-5, so 600k

Second stage money:

1,000,000 KRW + 100,000 KRW * Number of Games won

ByuN went 3-2 in games, so 1300k (Total: 2.1M)
soO went 4-1 in games, so 1400k (Total: 2.0M)

There's no specific monetary reward for any position in Challenge, which is why the prize money looks so weird.
