It's funny how people hated stuchiu for his "highest skill era" article, but you're seeing exactly what he talked about in live action right now. I believe the point of that article was that the top used to be better than it is now which is absolutely not what the poster you're qouting is saying. Nobody argues against low-tier players being worse.

I really think ro8 is better than ever, but ro32 is such a disaster

There are two arguments here though Do we have the highest amount of top skilled players in sc2 right now? No, obviously not, the player pool has deminished a lot. Overall there are a lot less top players now. Is the best sc2 player now, better than the best sc2 player 3 years ago? Yes, I would say so.

I thought people hated that article for being pure click-bait and having flawed arguments that conflated skill and talent, and various other things. Those are perfectly reasonable criticism regardless of the validity of the claim.

Maybe if they had kept the old kespa teams, they'd still be in shape (though I'd give Scarlett a chance if all three players were in their top form -- peak skill Scarlett was phenomenal), but that's not the reality we're living in. We all want to think of Zest as that incredibly "crisp" player who made victory look easy so much of the time, but it's been a while since we've seen that from him. If players like this had made it into the tournament instead of foreigners, and still played like they did, I feel like I'd still be reading complaints on here because of the play level drop-off.
