What is the OSC?

The Oseanic StarCraft 2 Championship (OSC) is an non-profit online sports league, that supports and showcases the best talent from the Oceanic, South East Asian, North American, Latin American and Chinese regions! Many events are open, so we have a great mix of the best local and world class players!

The League is a conglomeration of numerous partnered tournaments, investors and community members who have united to share their time, skills, resources, data and assets, to create a rapidly growing ongoing event for players to compete in on a daily basis! OSC is run by the community for the community!

The league follows a yearly season format, where players earn points for placing highly in all partnered tournaments, along with points acquired through bonuses and challenge matches. These points and player data act to form the OSC World Rankings and seeding system.

In 2016 we are tracking for a $200,000 season!

Current Rankings can be viewed here.

At the end of the yearly season, the top 50 players ranked via the OSC World Rankings are invited to play in the revered OSC Finals, where we determine our yearly champion! Every player who plays in the finals gets paid!

We have designed a finals format which rewards the players who finish highly in the World Rankings, as they have shown a combination of results and regular participation throughout the year, and deserve rewards for their efforts. Thus seeding and competition for position within the rankings is highly important, and ensures ongoing player activity and interest!

Above: Trophy won by yearly Champion!

We also offer unique rewards like $ Bounties, Player Sponsorships, Participation $ prizes/incentives, $’s for Player of the Month + Rising Star of the Month, challenge matches + bonus points!

Championship Format

The Championship will run across 5 days (likely early January 2017), and feature the top 50 Ranked Players from ~300 Partnered Tournaments in 2016!

Atm the starting prizepool for the Championship will be $7500 USD! (Distribution will be revealed closer to the event.)

Given how many tournaments players have competed in, and the results they've earned throughout the year, we've developed a format which rewards those who've done well throughout the year. We think it's fairer than throwing them all in a Single/Double Elim bracket, where it's possible that 1st vs 50th could result in the first placed seed from across the year, being knocked out early, and not a reflection of their years work.

We realize this format may be hard for the casual fan to follow, but is designed to reward the top players who have accumulated results over a year, and allows us to best discover our champion!

The 2016 format is similar to 2015's Championship (Top 32), but expanded to now included the Top 50 and an extra stage.

This format also allows for memorable lower bracket runs and stories, such as Kelazhur, Snute, GuMiho and TRUE's run's in 2015!

Thanks to all who have given feedback towards its development, and the primary architects, deth, Namakaye and Eddie.

Seeds 1-20

Seeds 1-20 will start in the upper stage of a double elimination bracket.
Players 13-20 will start in the first round, with players 1-8 being seeded deeper in the bracket.
The first 2 rounds are Bo3, but all further rounds and the lower bracket are Bo5.
Winner of the upper bracket has 'two lives', so will need to be defeated in two Bo5's by the player coming from the lower bracket.

Seeds 21-26

Seeds 21-26 will start in the lower stage of a double elimination bracket.
They will await opponents from the playoff stage.

Seeds 27-50

Seeds 27-50 will play in a playoff stage to determine who will move onto player in the Championship Bracket! The playoff format will be SSL Bo2 style groups of 6 players each. 2 groups will be played on Day 1, and 2 on Day 2.

The Top 12 players from the playoff stage determined by map score will then face off (Eg 1st v 12th) to determine who plays round 1 in the lower stage of the Championship double elimination bracket! These matches will be played on Day 3.

OSC is a bloody amazing tournament with a year end finals which has been going on for the past 3 years. Did i get mention that all 50 players get paid?! So what are you guys doing sign up for some tournaments and farm some points! There's still 4 months to go so plenty of time to play in tournaments and get some points!
