As usual, this will be a re-rendition.
This was done after 2016 GSL Season 1 Code A

Q: You beat Hush to go to Code S A: I am very happy.
Q: You are now teamless, how have you managed? A: I though about joining a foreign team if rules doesn't change. But Blizzard changed rules and I am now doomed.
Q: A lot of fans of yours hope you can get back to where you were in 2012. A: People might worry I practise less as I grow older. But I will do my best.
Q: You used simple strategies against Hush. A: I prepared a lot of strategies, and I know some of them are strategies that Hush can't deal with. I know some plays will very effective, so I used the same strategies in Games 1 and 5.
Q: You were very much disturbed by adepts at one point. A: Zergs can sometimes lose to Adept harassments. I can't do much about this. But I got an effective strategy and used in Game 5. You just produce enough zerglings and harvest less gas.
Q: Anything to say about Code S? A: Well, people say I am a veteran already, I hope the veteran can be as competitive as younger players.

Is he going to army soon ?

I didn't know the new rules prevent Korean players to join foreign teams.

It doesn't PREVENT them but what reason would a foreign team have to sign a Korean who can't play internationally for at least a year if they're lucky?
|
Blizzard had to choose between letting the best players win (meaning that foreigners are all out by RO8) and keeping foreigners' interest (with Korean-free tournaments). They wanted to make money so it was obvious they went with the latter.
Foreigners historically came close to Koreans at some point but now they've either lost interest or simply didn't want to practice and fell off.

oh wow he looks really different without glasses. but maybe it's because I just haven't seen his face in a long while.

It's shocking right? It's like when a monolithic organization thats completely detached from the day to day's of running tournaments, have little incentive to create a practical structure, and literally no knowledge at all on how to do it, they tend to do poorly. We should consider ourselves fortunate blizzard merely destroyed the scene utterly, 5-6 years in, as opposed to right away. They always said they intended to use state granted arbitrary authority (copy right etc) to run the scene. Those years they largely only destroyed the game through inept design and balancing was a damn grace from God.

Foreigners historically came close to Koreans at some point but now they've either lost interest or simply didn't want to practice and fell off. Because the viewer numbers of DH Leipzig proved that a tournament with the competition of a Go4sc2 cup where all good players are banned from because they are too good truly keeps the interest of foreign viewers.

DRG accounts for the vast majority of my remaining interest in SC2 :D Still with ya buddy!

I'm happy he's in Code S! But he looks kind of defeated in that photo...sad.

A little bad translation. I read the interview before and did not have the impression that drg said he was doomed, a little unfortunate however. The reason why drg seems sad is that he realized this alittle too late due to late introduction to 2016 wcs rules by blizz amd theredore he is confused to say the least.
|
Which team was he going to join anyway? And how many times would he get flown out to a tournament anyway? I don't think it makes much difference for him.
|
An hour ago, this thread was named as he said it in the interview after the game, what we all heard. Now, it says "policy changes happened"???? What is this bullshit? This is starting to be like the today's media - we do not report, what has been said, as political correctness is more important.

Well, the numbers do not look half bad imo: http://www.fuzic.nl/franchises/dreamhack/ Even better, compared to last years DH open tourmanets the viewer number were ~10k higher. IF that trend continues, then yes, is basically proves the new system works
