I used to hate listening to your commentary. I always thought that it was pure color -- all bravado with no substance. But... after about a year (yes it took that long!) the unthinkable started to happen. I began to respect you. You just kept churning out content and fighting through incessant hate. You approached your job with a professional attitude and commitment to your craft. More importantly, you stayed true to yourself and carried yourself well. A coworker -- one that I respect greatly, once said that if you aren't consistently putting yourself in a position to fail, you're never going to realize your full potential. It's truly a difficult thing to do -- nobody enjoys the mental burden of failure. With this in mind, what impresses me the most about you (and many esports pros) is your willingness to follow your passion, and your mental fortitude in fighting through the ups and downs. You've grown more than any of us will ever understand. Total Biscuit, good luck on this journey!!! We're fucking cheering for you!

I was also going to ask why not have surgery to cut out the cancer but I guess you answered that as well. I always thought that chemotherapy actually contributed to the death of the patient in some way but its interesting to learn that it keeps the normal cells functioning (for the most part, apart from the bone marrow part you mentioned). He already had surgery for his initial primary tumour if I remember right. However if its spread through his body (based on the fact that this new growth is somewhere totally different) it means that surgery is unlikely to do anything because its everywhere and therefore could embed anywhere and start again. Don't get me wrong about chemotherapy. Its a very, very harsh treatment, I don't want to undersell how serious it is as a medical procedure. Again, you're basically pumping poisons into the body. Its just that those poisons work by killing dividing cells and the more rapid the division the more the toxic effect. Hence why it just doesn't outright kill everything but its still a massive stress on the cells and the body as a whole. "Cancer" isn't a singular disease and consequently no treatment is going to work on everyone. Its incredibly complex. Anyway, that's enough sciencing up this thread. If someone wants to ask/discuss anything more to do with the biology of this stuff then please PM me and I'll do my best, even if its not strictly my field. And once again, all the best to Mr. Bain; I sincerely hope he does much better than that prediction.

The Starcraft community is one of the best communities out there and you TB are one of the most well known SC and overall gaming personalities. A Starcraft tournament to raise awarness about cancer among a group of people (the average gamer is quite young) that hardly thinks of death could be a great way of fighting the disease. Who knows, maybe one of the gamers out there now in their teens one day could be the one discovering the secret and cure to cancer because they were made aware by one of their favourite gaming personalities. My best wishes to you and your family.
