Aware of the risk of being caught by the hype police, I will say that this is the saddest match of the year - somehow reflecting the sad reality of the single-elimination tournament that follows. Watching the race for top16 is always fun (especially in the world that contatins Die4ever) and probably the most thrilling thing in SC2 - but there is always the devil behind your ear telling you that the people outside the top of the Korean competition (be it the travelling mercenaries, or the rare odd foreigner) have very little chance of anything else that going out swiftly in the first round. It does not really matter that the winner of this plays herO - in the top8 there isn't really anyone Fanta or Hyun would be even remotely favoured against and even if a surprise were to happen in the Ro16, what then? It's really the same as the "yay Lillbow got top16, oh he's playing Life in Ro16 ... but who else would you want him to get anyway from THAT list?" sequence of thoughts.

This is not meant to be a complaint, there really is no great solution - and the current system with two cups in Korea and only one global is pretty good in that it has limited the outsiders to just 4 people (Polt, Hydra, Lilbow and the winner of this), but it doesn't really make for aq good tiebreaker hype.

Voting for Hyun here.
Fantasy does not stand any chance against herO. Hyun on the other hand might crush him with his aggression.

Travel is paid and you get 5000 $ for just competing in the ro16 - that's like winning small major tournament. I don't think the players are too unhappy to participate just to lose against herO

(and, well, you never know - greater upsets have happened)

To get to the WCS Global Finals is an achievement of it's own. Like qualifying for the world cup in football (soccer) is a huge achievement for my country. The player who wins can also say he was top 16 in the world in 2015. Really liked this article

I can, actually. For starters he has a ridiculous 75% winrate in proleague. He actually got a spot at IEM the hard way, by qualifying (as opposed to FanTaSy who got knocked out i the ro32 of the Korean qualifier and so had to get invited). Incidentally, soO also beat FanTaSy in the semifinals of that tournament. And then I guess I could mention that soO won the ridiculously stacked Leifeng monthly cup #3 where almost every Kespa player was in attendance. Now care to make a list for FanTaSy?

fantasy has always been a player with great preparation and has shown in the past that he can beat pretty much anybody, for example at IEM gamescom where he was the only one to defeat innovation. hyun 3:1'ed rain at dreamhack and parting a month ago. both of these guys have very special playstyles and the skillset to win at blizzcon, even vs herO. so i dont see at all how this is supposed to be the saddest match of the year.
for the second part, taeja has been outside of the top of the korean competition last year and beat soO and innovation decisively at blizzcon. life had to pull out his special tactics to overcome him. the same goes for MMA who made it to the finals. jaedong 2013 wasnt competing in korea either. naniwa did go out in the first round but considering soulkey was a beast at the time he didnt make too bad of an effort and i believe that lilbow can do even better vs life in their current shapes.

I am sorry, but I still don't consider one match on a weekend tourney to be indicative of anything. Also 2015 was very different than the years before, the competition really shifted towards Korea since the change in WCS format.
