I'd argue this makes more sense than the unnecessarily large prize pools tournaments go for these days. Most players will continue to attend the tournament even if the prize pool is significantly smaller (you'd mostly just stop getting all the random Korean snipers).

Makes sense, was necessary to come at some point. That CSGO interview really kicked up an discussion.
Btw, did SC2 have issues with drug abuse? Never heard about it, but CSGO's NA scene does some do have some problems in that regard.

Why would u even smoke before the match? It does not help u to concentrate and makes u relaxed and sloppy.
Coffee on the other hand might be useful a bit and leagal, as well as any enegry drink probably, both are leagal in sports (at least in football/soccer)

as long as its not blood test since in some culture especially asian this is really only used for health and anything else.

Makes sense for stuff like Adderall, but I don't see why any drug that isn't mental performance enhancing needs to be tested for, it's not a physical sport it's a mental one

I'd say SC2 is more about mechanics than thinking.

"omggg, i am being all-ined by parting, laser beams soooo prettty, oh shit i forgot to build a roach warren, fuck i want some mcnuggets" <- would be going through your head as parting soul train you.
I can understand performance enhancing drugs, like adderall or whatever people take to boost their focus, but things like weed or steroids (being buff and handsome like Stork isnt gonna help you beat anyone) im more skeptical about. There should be a more refined list of bannable drugs updated specifically for eSports, rather than just using the all encompassing sport ban list for video games. Still, I guess it must be done or else people wont take esport seriously.
It doesn't make sense to maintain a separate list of banned substances for e-sports really. Let the big anti-doping bodies with all the resources at hand define what is an illegal substance and how to test for it rather than establishing an e-sports anti-doping bureau along with testing facilities etc (which probably will be quite costly).
It is a bit strange that weed is considered performance enhancing (in any context at all). I can't fully understand why it is banned myself. Maybe someone can enlighten us why this is, but I seem to remember some snowboarding guy losing his Olympic medal after testing positive some years ago. On the other hand, surely there is no need for progamers to smoke/eat weed for any reason at all before any tourney, so I suppose there is not really any harm in having it on the list.
