The other day incontrol was really bummed about something on stream. I'm assuming this is what he was refering to. It probably stings really badly to have Kaelaris to be working blizzcon over your when you've dedicated your entire life to starcraft

Last year Kaelaris was the ONLY WCS caster who wasn't invited to BlizzCon. It would have been disgusting if he wasn't invited again this year. I like iNcontroL but he's mostly working with DreamHack.
Seems kind of dumb not to have any of the casters from spotv, proleague being so big and all. But then again what do I know maybe they invited Wolf and he rejected, guess we'll never know.
Edit: Yeah I guess mOOnGLaDe is there, that counts for something atleast. Although he probably would not have been if he had not casted DH.

I like everybody who was invited, but I can see where certain people who were snubbed are coming from. Either way looks like everything is gonna be awesome from the production end of things!
the lack of incontrol makes me wonder if blizzard even thinks about their moves because lately it seems like they are just absolutely hopeless in terms of decision making

I guess maybe since it's the WCS finals, they want to get as many casters from the different WCS regions as possible? And Incontrol basically just casts Dreamhack. Not saying I agree with the decision, but just trying to see it from their point of view.
This is a pretty good line-up. I'd have preferred iNcontroL over ToD. Some of ToD's pronunciations kinda irritate me at times plus I love Geoff's banter.
Hope to see a Plott cast at some point, I love it when the Plott brothers cast together.
I've heard Incontrol isn't going because some ppl at blizz don't like him. Really sad, I think his contributions to the show are invaluable, will really miss him there.

Such as?... The only one I see is Day9, and I'm completely okay with them inviting him. He has been one of the most involved people in the SC2 scene since the very beginning. Even with all the time he devotes to making his own game at the moment, he still regularly does his daily and also casts Redbull. The guy is amazing.
Also, I'm counting GSL as WCS because it's basically WCS KR even though technically it's not anymore...

I love Day[9] too and I'm super glad he got an invite. Moonglade and Smix came to mind. Moonglade was perpetually a sub for WCS and casted some Code A, but then again so did Madals. Should he be invited? Also Smix does what Incontrol does: Dreamhack. I am completely happy with everyone who was invited. I think they're all fantastic. I'm just saying that Incontrol isn't there because you can't invite everybody, not just because he didn't cast WCS.
I'd agree that in terms of involvement, Incontrol maybe should've been casting aswell, but I can see where blizzard is coming from by not inviting him. I mean, out of all of them, he might be the least professional caster of them. I think he really shines when tournements get closer to the homestorycup type of tournements, and blizzcon is, in my opinion the exact opposite of that. Though I must admit I'm sad aswell that Incontrol won't be there.

Hmm... I agree that Incontrol really fits the HSC type of environment, but he can definitely be professional when he needs to.

I don't think iNcontrol's Korean is on par with Smix Korean though . And Moonglade is needed for zerg analysis. So I think it basically comes down to iNcontrol or ToD and ToD is just more involved with WCS.
This is a great lineup. There are so many good casters now spread over the regions. InControl not being part of the list is sad to see but there are so many people on there already... too much even maybe?
Also, don't really understand why it's assumed that Kaelaris took Geoffs place? What about Moonglade?

No idea where you got that evaluation from. There is a difference between adding some humor here and there (and it's always a really good piece of humor) and being unprofessional. Incontrol doesn't have anything to do with being unprofessional imo.

I don't think he's talking about being unprofessional, he's just saying that InControl shines by his humor, and that humor being subjective, maybe Blizzard prefers casters that rely less on humor and more on "serious" casting for BlizzCon.
No FunKa for the Ro16 makes me a bit sad though Also concerning InControl's case you have to take into consideration the fact that there will 10 hosts/casters/experts at BlizzCon already. That's really a lot, and I don't see how they could fit more
Instead of focusing on who is missing, or who i don't like as much i prefer to say YAY for Nathan, Rotty, Day9, ToD, Artosis, Apollo and etc Also Infeza, Funka and Smix. Tons of good stuff.

I guess maybe unprofessional isn't the right term (though I didn't really call him that, did I). But like, he has the least official feeling about him, and often he's more concerned with making the cast funny than with making the cast exciting. Which I also love, but I can see where blizzard is coming from by not inviting him.
People who should be invited: Actual WCS casters Actual WCS hosts The fact that we get more than that is TBH just us being spoiled. I have no problem with them not inviting Incontrol and personally I could have done without Day[9] as well. But I have no problem with him being there.
If Geoff was actually a Blizzard employee or an employee of the WCS producing companies then I could understand him feeling left out, but he isn't, he is an EG employee and sometimes a Dreamhack guy, he can't really feel entitled to anything.

Do you really want wolf and brendan casting blizzcon?

well to be fair, hearthstone is blizzards game as well, so i doubt they were super upset.
well.. i guess we can all agree that all the invites are nice and well thought, but some are missing such as Incontrol or Wolf etc etc etc .. but you really cant invite every caster to blizzcon, so it's fine! and it was a shame by blizzard that they didnt invite kaelaris to blizzcin last year.. this guy pretty much represents WCS EU (with Apollo), so he is in my opinion a "must have" for blizzcon!
I really think it makes sense to have all the standard WCS casters there. Then the 3 extras I like to view as one from each region (ToD for EU, Moonglade for KR and Day9 for NA, even though it's not really true).
Sad for Incontrol, but I guess there's not room for everyone. He hasn't casted any of the WCS events this year, right (like the real ones, not DH/IEM etc)?
Incontrol would do better for himself by leaving EG. Hiring Incontrol to cast is basically like giving EG and Monster free advertising and then actually paying for it.
I'm a little bummed that incontrol isn't going to be there, but I understand. I just am not a huge fan of some of the guys they picked over him. I think Geoff brings a certain personality that a lot of people want to see. Casters are often just as if not more important for viewership of big tournaments than the players themselves. People will tune in for Geoff, they won't for Kaelaris or moonglade.

iNcontroL would've definitely been awesome, but as other people have said, it's about the top 16 StarCraft players in the world.
I'm really happy to see mOOnGLaDe and of course the Plott brothers. (Even though Day9 has been very short on SC2 content/involvement compared to the past and Tasteless has the #passion issues as discussed (lol))
I am not incontrols fanboy but if i count all tournaments i watch with was more fun on desk than without him thats just fact other setups i just skip till games most of times....... definetly weird choice not taking him in after his great work this year....
On other hand i am happy that apollo and day9 are in . They can find and make more hype for game than others ..... And also best obs in world Funka, clear choice ,will be defenestration if they dont take him in

I'd like to argue that, while he has gotten worse and doesn't seem knowledgeable/seems.. out of it during his casts, he really does perform well when it's a big deal or big tournament. His casting goes up 10 fold and he's actually really good at boosting hype and excitement.
So all the casters are WCS/ GSL plus mOOnGLaDe and Day9. MOOnGLaDe makes sense because they needed a Zerg expert I assume so I guess they shouldn't have chosen Day9 over iNcontroL then? Or just ad even another caster on top of the current roster? I personally think there are already too many now tbh.

That was my first reaction too, but I have to say I didn't really like James as a host during Red Bull Global, he seemed kind of awkward and didn't know what questions to ask. Smix is a host who can translate, James is a translator who can't really host. I guess Blizz didn't want to fly an extra person in when someone else can do the job, just not necessarily as well.

It's also hilarious because Inc is geographically closer to the studio than every caster on the list, besides maybe Day9. It's pretty damn expensive to fly people in from all corners of the world, so I doubt hiring another caster would've bothered their budget too much. This is essentially Blizzard flipping Geoff the bird. It's sad because he: 1. He cares about StarCraft more than they ever have. (Maybe that's why they hate him? Too much passion in the wrong place? Better hop on the Passionstone train Geoff..) 2. Geoff understands the game and is really good at explaining it too people, even the finer parts.

There's only going to be seven series at Blizzcon for at a minimum six casters (assuming Tasteless, ToD, and mOOnGLaDe are strictly doing analysis). Sucks that Geoff can't be there, but what role can they have him do anyways?

Incontrol definitely has a way about calling people out when he disagrees, and there are a lot of times where it could be more politically correct to approach it in another way. For example, he often goes on twitter to be like "how come x hacker hasn't been banned, I've been complaining for y amount of time", which paints Blizzard as the bad guy, even though the hacker is really the problem. Not saying that Blizzard is correct in not dealing with the hacker earlier when notified (and they could be much more transparent with these sorts of issues), but I imagine it doesn't make him their favorite person.

Husky does his Youtube channel exclusively now i think.

Well it is a selection of the absolute best in the business. I do count Incontrol also to the best but at what point to you stop adding people? Sucks for him but I guess he is having a lot of other gigs anyway.
Everyone who follows the scene has casters they do and don't like. It would be pretty amazing if they managed to invite a list of casters that didn't miss someone that lots of people like.
In all fairness Geoff is pretty damn good at it, but I mean shit, it happens. The lineup is still awesome.

ToD's english is perfect, he has an accent, everyone does, but his vocabulary is great and he speaks english very well, not sure if hating or ignorant.
Very happy to see no Incontrol. While I give him credit for having a long career in StarCraft, he hasn't been very succesful in StarCraft 2, his commentary is not entertaining or insightful whatsoever, and his jokes are never ever funny.

Not to be the bad one - but someone in this thread said Day9 is doing a lot for Blizzard. OK, what has he accomplished/done? I mean, when I want to mention something about progaming and doing a good stuff around SC2 - I remember Canadian interviews of Goeff (What was that event? Cannot remember, my memory is bad ><) I may missed something so please tell me more, because I thought that Day9 is out of SC2 more or less and concernign about his RTS or what project he's doing
Thanks! (I really just want to know more about Day9 and his work for SC2, I am totally fine with Day9 at Blizzcon, I hate Kaelaris and Tod :D)

You should probably not respond to these people who needlessly try to insult others (for the sake of having an opinion). There seem to be quite a lot in this thread (not only against you) but relatively speaking they're a small minority. Furthermore I expect at least some of them being very young and hopefully to grow up in the coming years.
I know you know this btw but I still think it's a good thing to remind people every once and awhile.

Everybody always checks the threads, I know I couldn't resist either. But I think it's weird how they always respond to the negative posts instead to the positive/normal ones. Ignore the stupid posts and interact with the people who support you, not the haters. That would be my advice. The fact that you are more likely to get a response from a community figure if you insult/hate them, than if you compliment/support them, is stupid I think.

I have had a long time of being skeptical towards Incontrols casting, he has this recent year started to improve on me. I think like many others have said that Incontrol isn't very professional, and yes that is the phrasing I think is correct.
He's funny, he's sarcastic but he is not professional. What has started impressing me is that Incontrol has a great understanding of the game. He rarely uses it however, when other casters are talking about what the players are thinking, why they put a building in a specific place or why they choose to start building something and cancelling it. When they talk of that Incontrol is joking around or shittalking. Sometimes when the other caster in the duo mentions something like why player X is making the building there, then Incontrol comments on it with very impressive insight and understanding.
He rarely does it himself however he prefers to entertain the viewers with content that is not SC2, when I watch SC2 I want to entertained by the game not a comedian. I think his focus is a bit off, especially for Blizzcon, I want the games not a comedy act.
In HSC or in long outdrawn SH games for example then incontrol is awesome, he gives you entertainment where the game doesn't. When he puts focus from the game to himself during good games though, not so much.
So who do you think will have the honor of casting the grand finals match? Considering that soO's opponent will most likely be another Code S player, I think that the task should go to Tastosis. Hell, if it was up to me, I'd have them cast the entire thing, with maybe occasional matches where Apollo would replace one of them to give them a break. It just seems that they've got that special kind of magic going on between them (in a completely non-gay way, of course) that just isn't there with any of the other casters.
I think there might be some conflict between Incontrol and some people/person in charge in Blizzard. We don't really know what's happening behind the scenes.
Also, Incontrol's tweets (these hahaha) are a bit strange for me. He was not like "wtf? why not me?" it was more like he knows why he didn't get invited and laughs because it's silly to devolve these bad feelings into Blizzcon.

Not gonna lie I can't see why anyone would say "incontrol is never ever funny". You would axtually have to lack a sense of humor and/or be boring as a person in order to hold that opinion. Rarely would I call an opinion nuts (unless I'm reading yahoo news comments) but you managed it.

I share your opinion, I was actually kinda glad to see him off this caster lineup. Since this is Blizzcon, there's likely to be a good number of new viewers. The lack of professionalism can leave a bad impression on people.
Yeah he just wants to have some fun good-timey trolly times instead of being super-cereal about a video game all the time, but in the end it leaves a bad taste in my mouth even if he doesn't do it all the time.
Can't believe that the caster most seem willing to swap out for Incontrol is ToD - to me he's the best caster working at the moment. Pretty damn happy with the list - Kaelaris does deserve it for all he's done and how much he's improved, and I love that Moonglade's coming too. Would love Incontrol to be there, and I think I'd take him over Day9, but just like last year I guess someone had to get cut for the budget
It's kinda wierd that the casters get more attention then the players. I mean in one way it makes sense they are on the screen interacting and so on, but in "traditional" sports the broadcasters, out side of a few exceptions are not the stars of the show, the players are.
So much salt about incontrol not being at Blizzcon. People in this thread are ridiculous, it's actually quite hilarious. I like Incontrol, and I think he is a fine host, but when you look at the lineup, they have pretty much everyone who has represented WCS as a caster/host/analyst. Day[9] is a show-in based off of his name alone. Moonglade has started to make a transition to full-time caster, and might be there to give SEA region some representation at the event.
But to say you are genuinely upset or mad that incontrol isn't at Blizzcon or that you wouldn't watch because of it is downright absurd.

I agree, I'm a big fan of ToD and would prefer him over Incontrol any day.
cant say im a huge incontrol fan, but atleast the guy still actually likes and plays starcraft, my guess is you need to suck some Blizzard dick to get a spot on the panel and tasteless/artosis/day9 already got that covered.
Hopefully people like total biscuit incontrol take guys who have given so much and asked for so little will get an invite and some recognition as well one day, but doubtful they will keep trolling out a guy who has left for hearthstone and a guy who couldn't handle the campaign on easy.
more positive good to see moonglade get a shot that guy is a real class act, nathanias is in there so some passion will be in the air, tod great game knowledge, Rotterdam seems burned out lately hopefully he comes back firing.
That is disappointing, but I guess you have to reward the people who were casting their WCS regions all season. He easily should be there over some others. If there is one thing that might go against him, though, is that it seems everyone plays Protoss, so even a plat Terran/Zerg player could potentially get a leg up on you...

If what Im inferring from this post is correct, your mindset must be exhausting to those around you.
Well, it's just my opinion but I don't find Geoff's casting/commentary neither entertaining nor knowledgeable. He is for me wrong about just too many things that are going on in the game, the analytical value of his casts are nowhere near Artosis, Apollo, Tod or even qxc. His joke are lame or maybe just too usausausa for me I guess? Only thing I laugh about him is his hair.
I dunno, whenever I watch DH or HSC and his cast comes up I always end up muting/queing for ladder instead which for me is quite frustrating. I have no idea why ppl find his issue with Tod amusing or fun, he was incredible annoying and I definitely felt it there for Tod.
But yea anyway, these are just my opinions and I prolly wont find anyone else thinking the same at least in this thread by the looks of it. Back to your point, yea I'm a crazy mofo aswell, not exhausting afaik...
Edit: He is ok as a host I guess, just anywhere outside the actual game
djwheat was so pro at hosting the panel last time, and really no incontrol? that's seriously disappointing. no surprises otherwise really but it's a pretty dry crew. this isn't a lineup that's going to put on a very entertaining show. panel is going to be way more awkward and uncomfortable this time whereas it was incredibly smooth last year. oh well.
well as it seems to be all about incontrol not getting a spot. ehm what did he do this year for sc2 compared to all other that are invited and to others that did more and are not invited? its amazing how much passion his fans have and what arguments they use like "viewer numbers" and other bullshit arguments. maybe they fight so hard for him because usa has nothing true usa left in the scene? well thats what i get from a lot of reddit posts and this strange person at trashtalk.
nice caster line-up the right people are there from blizzard points of view and who are you to blame blizzard. be the blind fanboy that you have always been, buy the last DLC for sc2, buy stupid amount of things in hearthstone, play the most noobish dota clone and talk about how deep it is in reality and pay world of warcraft monthly subscriptions and pretend to be a raider by reading bossguides and use addons so that when you finally managed to replay something others did and the addons told you be so fucking proud of you because you indeed did nothing.
yes yes
sry incontrol is not the person i want to see at blizzcon. i want to see peopel that did something more for the game in a year than what he did. and it was not much. 2015 he does more and he will get his invite for sure. so don't be leazy incontrol and you will get a spot.
Or its just because he is EG|incontrol and that is getting a problem in esport.
