The first iteration of Summer Series concluded today as the semifinals and finals were played out. When the dust finally settled, Samsung. Dear walked out of the shootout as the deserving champion. Despite looking slightly deficient throughout the group stage and his 3-2 victory over  Solar, Dear empathically finished his run by crisply dispatching RagnaroK 3-0. Success in such a small event means little but combined with his encouraging performance in Code S, it ought to fuel hopes that Dear is reclaiming his previous skill.
RagnaroK’s silver medal was also well earned. He looked nigh unstoppable entering the finals, going undefeated against  INnoVation, Stork, and Symbol. His success here is the latest in a string of excellent performances dating back to the last season of GSTL. Recently RagnaroK has won PughCraft Invitational, earned a top 8 spot at MLG Anaheim, made it to the semifinals of Hong Kong eSports Tournament, and reached the top 4 of multiple Dragon Invitationals. Going into the fall, he will be an up-and-comer to note.
MVP.Symbol took third place as he defeated Solar 2-1 in the consolation match. His road was rather bumpy, barely managing to get out of Group B only to get swept by RagnaroK in the quarterfinals. Nevertheless it was an encouraging sign. Similar to Dear, Symbol has been rather quiet this year. Between middling GSL results and no foreign tournaments, Symbol has mostly merited attention through his online endeavors. This marked the fourth time in 4 months that he's gotten a top 4 (or better) finish in an online event.
