Lone GSL Terran  JinAir_Maru survived to reach the semifinals, defeating long-time nemesis  SKT_Soulkey in a surprising 3-1 upset.
Diverging from the orthodox, marine-mine-medivac approach that had seen him suffer many defeats at Soulkey's hands, Maru decided to mix things up. Hellbat timings, bio-mech compositions, and proxy-reapers all figured into Maru's plans.
Soulkey opted to veer away from standard play as well, eschewing muta-ling-bane to play roach-ling-bane compositions. Though it's unknown as to whether it was a reaction to Maru's use of hellbats or if it was Soulkey's plan all along, there was no doubting the result: failure. Maru had no qualms about going head to head with the Zerg army, trading constantly until his 3/3 upgrades kicked in and allowed him to overrun Soulkey. The only game Soulkey won came on the back of an early roach-bane bust, which gave him the economic advantage he needed to win late.
Maru's semifinal opponent will be  SKT_Classic, who was the other quarterfinal victor on the night. Thrown into yet another team-kill situation after facing PartinG and soO in the Ro16, Classic was forced to put down one more of his SKT teammates in ParalyzE.
Paralyze got off to a good start by taking game one, where he neutralized Classic's early oracle with a predictive phoenix opener. He seemed to be his way to taking a 2-0 lead when he countered Classic's oracle opener in the same manner in game two, but Classic recovered from his early disadvantage to defeat Paralyze in the late game.
Classic then took the lead with dark templars in game three, punishing Paralyze's decision to take a gamble on a detection-less stalker build. Classic then closed out the series with an aggressive build of his own, crushing Paralyze's phoenix expand with an army of blink stalkers.
The remaining quarterfinal matches of soO vs Solar and TRUE vs Zest will be played on Friday, Jun 13 9:00am GMT (GMT+00:00). The first semifinal match of Classic vs Maru is scheduled to be played on Wednesday, Jun 18 9:00am GMT (GMT+00:00).

That was mighty impressive. Some clever, Mvp-like thinking (5 banshees?) and his trademark control. Soulkey looked pretty outclassed in the series. Poor Classic..

... maru was a huge favorite for anybody who has played or seen them play in the past month. Expecting zest to win although he may drop a map or 2 to soo if he does not prepare very well.

Classic is still pretty underrated. I think his match vs Maru will be closely contested

soO is going to get his revenge this season, i love nice endings to tragedies.
Anyway, Classic has nice PvT and already destroyed Maru last Code S, i won't be surprised if Maru loses, even with sOs nearby.
