NATIONWARS II has already gave us incredible Sc2 country fervour, and we thank you for your entousiasm making this competition so exciting for every Starcraft 2 fan. The national teams showed high-level games and thrilling Starcraft 2 actions and the spectacle became more and more intense in Ro8, with more to come.
This tournament is very special because it is the first global crowdfunded tournament on Starcraft II.
Indeed, we offer the community to fund the NATIONWARS II according your own wishes from 1€ to 20,000€. This exciting competition had been expected for months by the Starcraft II community and we all want the countries to defend their flags and colours in a wonderful theater in Paris.
To manage to organize an outstanding NationWars II and continue to promote eSport with exceptional events, O'Gaming needs the community's support to fund the tournament and turn NationWars into an incredible competition that we could all be proud to be part of.
More than a tournament which enables people to select players, NATIONWARS II is a participative Tournament which offers the audience to decide the scale of the Finals, and to fund the CashPrize Live.

So, when you crowdfund the project, you finance both the finale stage (70%) and the cashprize (30%) !
Crowdfunding Principles : You pledge to give the amount you want to the project, for the reward you like the most. Money is debited right now and you are paid back if the first level is not reached. Then the purchase is effective, and the project receives the funds.
The first step is the most important: if we reach it, the project will be realized.
First step is set at 145.000?. The funding plan is composed by 80.000? of Entry tickets sales, (included in the gauge) and by 65.000 euros of additional Online donations, allowing us to cover the Production expenses of the Finals which amounts 145.000 euros.
The Finals Program : The four best Teams are battling Onstage for the Title through 4 final matches (Ro4 & Finals). As an interlude, 16 players selected by draw lots (see the "PAWN" Option) will play to defend their colours in the Pandemonium broke out of two exhibition FreeForAlls.
On the 26th of July 2014, more than a thousand people will attend the Show and live the Event onspot. Entry Tickets will be numbered and is divided in 3 seats category: category 3, category 2 and categorie 1 (golden circle tickets) depending on the placement in the venue.
If you help us reach this first step , you also fund a minimum cashprize of 15.000 euros (20.700 USD).
The bigger the project is, the higher the CashPrize will be for players to share.
2ND OBJECTIVE : NATIONWARS CHAMPIONS VS KOREAN SELECTION
If the crowdfunding plan goes above the first step by 20.000 euros (or more) and reaches 165.000 euros, NATIONWARS II will be enhanced by an epic epilogue !
We offer to produce an Ultimate Match, opposing the NATIONWARS II winner and the South Korean selection, BestOf9 games in the following weeks after the Finals (date to be determined still). The NATIONWARS II Champion will face Korea and try to dethrone the indisputable holder of the title, on Starcraft 2.
This epilogue Show will be played and Broadcasted 100% Online, with multilingual casting, happening in August 2014, offering 5.000 euros (6.900USD) garanteed CashPrize, if step 2 is reached.
WHAT HAPPENS BEYOND THE SECOND OBJECTIVE ?
If the second Step is reached, and if the pledges go above 165.000 euros, any additional donation will be split betwwen the Production of the NATIONWARS Tournament (50%) and the Tournament CashPrize (50%).
WHAT HAPPPENS IF THE CROWDFUNDING DOES NOT REACH ITS GOALS ?
If the crowdfunding does not reach Step 1 before the end of the collection, your pledges will not be debited (booking cancellation of the venue without fees) and the tournament will keep its original form. The NATIONWARS II Finals will happen as a premium quality Online Show, on the 26th of July 2014, with a total CashPrize of 7.000 euros (9.600 USD).

He knows that, and that's great by the way ! He wants people to be able to give more money than 50 euros while being aware of not getting a ticket to Paris.
I still dont understand how productions can spend 50 000€ ? And when it goes over 165k 50% of money goes to production. What will you do better bigger?

Think there is a "TIP" option where you can give what you like.

I think people underestimate everything business-related. The amount of people that thought NASL being in the hole by 1mil was unthinkable, was shocking.

Well, to be fair, it's not easy to understand business when the outcome you see is completely BAD-business. Those situations are not that easy to spot, and can get out of hand in a quick hurry.

You can still give 80 bucks and just ask for the 50 rewards. Btw i gave 20 and i'm broke as fuck, i really hope they reach the goal.
Btw I wonder if they tried to get a company sponsor a part of the event, like for the price of the F. Underwood reward

He has a point if you think about it that way: Cost should already be covered by hitting the last goal (objectif 2) otherwise they would calculate making losses with this campaign. Any excess money would then contribute with only 50% to the prize pool and 50% to the net profit. I honestly don't think that is an incentive for people to keep on crowdfunding past the last goal.

That was not my point. You can still give quite a lot of money without asking for a top reward that would be a ticket
Hm, I'm not saying this isn't cool, but I am not a fan of fancy locations that cost too much. I'd rather see the event at a cheaper, maybe bigger venue and use the money for a bigger prize pool or more teams attending offline.
I still hope they reach their goal and it's a great success!

it's a bit like ESGN except the community pays and not sapinda
I like the crowdfunding but shouldnt it be possible to find at least SOME sponsors for this event? Every event has sponsors, why dont you fund the event 50% from sponsors and 50% from crowdfunding?

In my opinion, Iron Squid was special almost only because of the insane atmosphere. The custom-made music, the venue, the orchestra and the crazy trophy made to match are all what made Iron Squid so memorable and so unique. They could probably make NationWars II happen with less money, but they're aiming for something unique along the lines of Iron Squid, and an ordinary tournament won't be that.

If they don't have sponsors willing to dish out money for the offline section of the tournament then what can they do?

So why does Take find numerous sponsors for every of his events? Furthermore the French guys should have a great reputation from the Iron Squid events.

I don't know why you seem to think I know what the sponsors think or why they choose the sponsor the events that they do, but it's fairly obvious that the costs of hosting Iron Squid II (or Nation Wars II in this case) far exceed the costs of hosting a HomeStory Cup. So why does Take find numerous sponsors for every one of his events? I don't know. Perhaps he's better at marketing his brand. Perhaps he is a bigger name and a bigger attraction than Pomf & Thud. In either case, the fact that Take can procure sponsors for his events does not in any way mean that the same should be immediately possible for the people behind Nation Wars and Iron Squid.
Or maybe Sponsoring doesn't work the same way in Germany than it does in France.. not sure if video games event are very popular in France.. lots of players, big communities.. but doesn't look like companies are interested despite O'Gaming and Millenium good work (and many others).
Whatever, save the cost of a pint and give it to Nation Wars 2 !
I hope this will be as good as usual, though I regret big time the Iron Squids... I'm clearly not as pumped as I was for Iron Squid...
Still, they deserve to be able to make this event happen.

I don't really know, but I have this feeling that in France, more than elsewhere, gaming is seen as a rather silly, childish, when not "dangerous" thing. So somewhat the fact they don't find sponsors but only dedicated, passionate people (like In Uchronia) to help them, doesn't surprise me that much.

I wait a little because I'm not sure I'll be in Paris july the 26th. But if i'm there, i will donate and come to suport like I did for Iron Squid2. It was such a great show.

I still hope they reach their goal and it's a great success!

Hm, will the live coverage at the venue be in English or in French? Regardless how insane the atmosphere is, you can't really immerse yourself with it, if you do not understand anything. At least that was my experience with the last Iron Squid.

So why does Take find numerous sponsors for every of his events? Furthermore the French guys should have a great reputation from the Iron Squid events.
Take has events at his own home. He takes a good chunk of the overhead cost out immediately, he also has a proven record for hosting tournaments/getting viewers. He's well organized yet laid back and fun, so for me, its easy to see why he has sponsors. The ads are also built into the stream, so you can't block them.

French
Aww, then I'll have nothing of the majority of the show.
This event is awesome and needs our support ! IS 1 & 2 were absolutely awesome, The events in Lyon and meltdown were also quite awesome... P&T&Co sure know how to run a real show and not only broadcasting sc2 matches. I believe that those are the type of event where the crowd can go full crazy (especially if france makes it to the finals )
But while i'm all for this event i find the lack of initial investment quite disturbing, i mean ogaming is basically asking us to pay for the whole thing...Can't they at least invest some of their own money (beside the initial prize money ) on it...i don't know even something like 5k-10k.
Also some sponsors would be nice ( they don't need to cover the whole thing but they could provide hardware support or % of the money required ) they managed to find some in the past and have quite the good reputation in france so why don't they took some is quite the mystery for me.
Well done and I'll be sure to chip in, although I really wished you had picked a bigger place rather than a fancy one, would have loved to take the trip to Paris.
Why did they wait a month to post this on TL when they first started the crowd funding? Now we only have 14 days to get the rest of the world on board and donate.

Let's do this fellas!
It's been on TL since day one this is just an update...
I don't fully understand this, is the first step already reached now? They say it's 80.000 from tickets and 65.000 from online donations and as far as I can tell the online donations are already at 97.000 or does that include the 80.000 from tickets?

It does include the 80 000 from tickets. They still need ~50k€.
While the Sc2 community struggles to reach 145 000€ for one tournament, the Dota 2 community already gave up more than $8.000.000 for the International and other tournaments...

And you are assuming that the situations are the same, and that we care because..?
3526 euros per day needed. Not gonna be a piece of cake but we could do it. (also at this point some big sponsors could just fill the void after seeing the community engagement )

They're organizing a show at the Meltdown Paris saturday night with online matches between Eiki, Nerchio, JimRising and Lilbow (one player of each remaining team). All the benefits of the night will go to the crowdfunding.

is there an entry fee or does the meltdown will generously give away the benefits of the night?
