Everything good comes to an end. Today we're breaking up with one of the veteran Team Empire - Michael " Kas "Gaida. Mike joined our team in 2010, and since then we have c through a lot together. Not so long ago ended contract Casa and we decided not to renew it. It was a very difficult decision, because the Empire is difficult to imagine without Michael. But in light of his recent performances, given the current situation on the StarCraft II scene, this decision is quite reasonable. We thank the Casa for the time spent with us and wish him every success in finding a new home. We hope that it will become even more motivated and continue to improve their level of play. Thus in the active part of Team Empire remains only Happy . Well Kas forever take pride of place in the hall of fame of our team. Finally, let us recall the major achievements under the auspices of Michael Empire: 1st place - Copenhagen Games 2012 1st place - Ritmix RSL 1st place - WCG Ukraine 2011 1st place - ONOG Inv 1st place - Yegalisk Master League 1st place - dignitas Reverse Race 2 place - Techlabs Cup Moscow 2013 2nd place - TaKeTV Reloaded Invitational 3rd place - Intel Extreme Masters Kiev 2012 3rd place - WCG 2011 Grand Final 3rd place - ASUS ROG The GD Invitational 4th - Blizzard WCS ukraine 5-8 place - Intel Extreme Masters Katowice

Aw man, can't imagine an Empire without him

Good luck Kas! It'll never be the same. The Empire tag always seem to go with that name.
|
Not my Misha too
|
WOW WOW WOW
Kas and empire parting way...That's almost impossible. I mean i do not even say the word kas without ''empire'' anymore, its like his nick had merged with empire, they've been together for so long...
Its sad, so last match kas played under the empire banner was ATC empire-fntc vs TL...and he was the ace. I hope kas finds a new team soon.

No! geez i really really REALLY hope he finds the perfect team.

Dang. Where to now?
And Empire with only one player seems silly...

Bummer.
Kas is the face of Empire in SC2 to me. He has fallen off a bit lately, though, hope that's not the reason.

Wow, I just can't picture Kas without being in Empire. It's like Grubby in the WC3 days as being part of 4K. But best of luck to Kas to wherever he goes.

Yeah same here, this reminds me a bit of mTw with dimaga.
|
Not surprised they made this decision, Kas was getting a lot less results and QQing a lot more. I wouldn't be surprised if he retires soon
|
Where did this come from? I'll always associate Kas and Empire together. Good luck to him in the future

This is almost like... Bisu not being in SKT

no, just no. really only happy left T_T

Damn going to be strange to see Kas without that team tag. Best of luck to both parties.

Yeah I don't know what to do with my sweet Empire icon. I feel lost.

I was thinking "I could have sworn I saw this happen like, a month ago... Is this just the official statement??" but I guess that must have just been the April Fool's joke, which humorously came true!!
I suspect retirement or a solid pickup by an EU team.

Man, Empire without Kas, Kas without Empire...... I can't believe it... damn From TSL 3 and his run to the Ro4 with that memorable series with Thorzain, he was definitely a player I enjoyed watching... Hope he finds a new team soon ! Good luck Kas !
|
Nooooo.
|
kas made sc2 fun to watch, best of luck.
|
Nooooo Kas! I hope he doesn't give up playing.
|
Empire without Kas is kinda like Mousesports without Mana. It just doesn't sound right.
|
But in light of his recent speeches, given the current situation on the StarCraft II scene, this decision is quite reasonable.
Just to clarify, because this really confused me when I read the translation, in Russian the same word can mean both speech and performance. Which really makes it sound like they straight up cut him.

It's not like Kas ever stopped playing the game. He is one of the most devoted players out there practicing; with usually 1k plus games per season (on his main). People don't realize that the STOG impacts peoples livelihood. I think you would "QQ" too if your contract was not renewed b/c balance issues over the last 8 months resulted in the underperformance of Terran. He is a great player and it is sad to see Empire was forced to make this decision.
|
He'll be announcing his retirement any day now.

i agree, kas isn't playing less or with less devotion, neither has he become worse - we all know what's the real reason.

Wowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowowow what?! who authorized Kas's release? this is blasphemy... this is madness!

Wow... Kas was always the first player I thought of when I thought of Team Empire.
Best of luck to Kas, and the fallen Empire.

april fools is only once a year =(

I can't imagine Empire without Happy or Kas. Those two have basically been the faces of the team, except I think way back they had violet for a while?

It will be an adjustment. It's never hard adjusting to Liquid'Kas

you got to be careful here, the bolded word was a translation from "выступлений", which in this case more then likely means performances.
You had me searching through the thread looking for speeches Kas made that were worthy of a cut. Even got my pitchfork and list of sponsors out!
Didnt check the rest of the translation btw but it seems to make sense unlike that sentence
|
This is so sad. If Kas can't hold a team, who can?
Poor guy, stuck playing the race with the highest skill ceiling. Now he's gotta show some good results. Best of luck. Will root for ya man.
|
Kas and Empire just go together, it feels weird to think of one without the other. Not altogether surprising though
|
First Beastyqt, now Kas.... this is so sad for Empire. Both these players are my favorite European Terrans and i feel so bad knowing both of them are now teamless.
To be honest, i expected something like this to happen after Kas didn't make into WCS EU Premier. I wish him good luck for the future.
|
What do they mean by with given the current situation on the StarCraft II scene ?

They have been the faces of the team for a long time, they did have quite a few notable other players though most weren't on the team for too long though. http://wiki.teamliquid.net/starcraft2/Team_Empire#Notable_Former

EmpireKas is like IMMvp or MarineKingPrime, you can't just say the players name without the team.
|
Unfortunately, Russian organisations including Empire and RoX have been saying how hard it is to have a successful SC2 team, so whilst it's very sad, it was somewhat predictable :'(
|
Blood is running thin in the scene. $$$

Take care Kas, hope you will find a new home even though it will be strange not saying Empire.Kas anymore

This. balance issues may be annoying for high level casuals and spectators but for a professional player they are career threatening. Sad day, wishing him the best in the future.
|
|
What?! That's kinda surprise! Retirement coming?
|
Liquid'Kas please. More terran power on TL!
|
Kas nooooo I hope mouz or TL pick him up. The first foreign terran I really adored during the WoL days, I hope he sticks to playing SC2 for a long time.
|
No huge surprise, but Kas was with Empire a long time and the two names will remain synonymous for quite some time when mentioning SC2
|
|
I'm not really surprised since most things I heard from Kas recently has been bitter complaining about game balance on his twitter...
|
Ahh damn. Kas was for a long time one of my favorite streamers and I was there to see him play live when he won Copenhagen Games. One of my absolute favorite terrans. I can only say good luck to Kas in his future endeavours.
|
I have had a little bit of a question mark over all the people screaming Terran UP everywhere. I play Zerg and I have noted Terrans doing very bad against P before the nerfs but never thought it was very serious beyond that. When people retire due to balance and in light of the recent PL matches I guess that Terran might be a bit underpowered vs Z since the mine nerf and they still seem to be struggling since the mine buff in TvP.
Don't really know what to say, how come its gotten to this point?
|
Good luck in the future Kas!
|
Will always be one of my favourite terrans, good luck Kas in what ever you do

It's end of CIS competitive starcraft, 4 biggest teams(Na'Vi RoX VP Empire) combined together, now have 3 players in roster
