ESL has announced today that its parent company, Turtle Entertainment GmbH, has entered into an agreement to acquire the New York City-based ESS Agency, formerly the Esports Services Agency. With the announcement, ESL will be opening a full production studio and office in Los Angeles, California, making it ESL’s seventh global office location.
It would be really cool if IEM and DH both started doing more in NA. They put on awesome European tournaments and I'd love to see organizers other than MLG and NASL (RIP in piece) investing into NA's scene.
I kind of wish they were losing the NYC office if it is purely administrative. I don't see why operations couldn't be moved to LA entirely and save some coin on the lease in NYC. Who knows maybe there were conditions to the acquisition, but NYC seems like a huge money sink if they aren't recording there.

great news overall, ESL expanding and hopefully bringing more action into the NA scene, cant wait to see how it turns out.

NASL also went bankrupt, I don't know if having many casters is such a good idea.
But awesome news nonetheless ESL taking over the world!
Seems like great news here. I liked NASL, but this could go a long way. Either way, I'm excited to see how next season's WCS NA is going to look production-wise.
I hope Carmac stays true to what he said on Lo3 E188, I hate how in America so many things have driven-up cost while the same could be done in Europe for a fraction of that (especially online- focused content).

I for one welcome our European invaders with open arms :D
ESL has come so far from what they were around the time when SC2 launched, I trust them and Carmac to take the right steps to make sure they can deliver what is most important in whatever they get involved in.

You have no idea how far ESL has come - I was a admin 8 years ago ... they wouldn't allow me in this time around. I guarantee it :D
What are they going to broadcast from NA that couldn't be served in EU ? While nice to see the scene grow, NA market seems to be ridiculously hard to stay in and turn a profit. I'd guess NASL wasn't even close to turning a profit, ever. MLG is very picky and does a ton of brand and game promotions and the little guys have very little overhead - BtS runs from a single house. RedBull only cares about brand recognition, which they have been doing very well. Riot throws money everywhere they go to clear the way. Maybe Blizzard + ESL ?
I hope it works out or at least that they have it setup so that failure doesn't endanger their EU branch.

I guess the main motivation is that it is nice for WCS America to be located in America somewhere.

Omg make this happen. I need Incontrol casting full time. He is as all American as it gets.
Eh, not as American as Polt or Stephano, but close, I'll grant that.

Then maybe your Esports organisations should stop being poor? Ever though about that? If they were less poor, they wouldn't need dirty EuroSports money to come and save them.

Well, Kennigit just said they have been talking since August, so WCS AM may have sped up things, but it definitely wasn't the only reason.
i really like incontrol's game insights, love him as a host/desk analyst. as a main caster? ehhh... not so much. sometimes his passive aggressive inside joke-ish trolling humor can get old when i'm just trying to watch a game
