ESL has announced today that its parent company, Turtle Entertainment GmbH, has entered into an agreement to acquire the New York City-based ESS Agency, formerly the Esports Services Agency. With the announcement, ESL will be opening a full production studio and office in Los Angeles, California, making it ESL’s seventh global office location.

Looks like ESL keeps WCS AM at least for this year, which would be amazing.

Probably. MLG probably doesn't want it back and Red Bull does not have a setup yet to host all of that.

Maybe Rotti's future work place? Would be great, back to the ESL roots .
Maru and Serral are probably top 5.

It would be really cool if IEM and DH both started doing more in NA. They put on awesome European tournaments and I'd love to see organizers other than MLG and NASL (RIP in piece) investing into NA's scene.

Looks like things have gone according to plan. It's nice to see that we get to keep WCS AM at least for now, hopefully it won't go the way of NASL.

I kind of wish they were losing the NYC office if it is purely administrative. I don't see why operations couldn't be moved to LA entirely and save some coin on the lease in NYC. Who knows maybe there were conditions to the acquisition, but NYC seems like a huge money sink if they aren't recording there.

Agreed! Nathanias gets so excited he completely over powers the other caster lol. I would be happy with either though.

why not both?
NASL had 4 casters in frodan/gretorp and bitter/rotti. I dont see why incontrol and nathanias lead by rotti wouldnt do a fine job.

great news overall, ESL expanding and hopefully bringing more action into the NA scene, cant wait to see how it turns out.

They aquire an east coast based company and open a studio on the west coast. What? Hope it works out! WCS AM on American soil seems appropriate.

NASL also went bankrupt, I don't know if having many casters is such a good idea.

But awesome news nonetheless ESL taking over the world!

I hope Carmac stays true to what he said on Lo3 E188, I hate how in America so many things have driven-up cost while the same could be done in Europe for a fraction of that (especially online- focused content).

What are they going to broadcast from NA that couldn't be served in EU ? While nice to see the scene grow, NA market seems to be ridiculously hard to stay in and turn a profit. I'd guess NASL wasn't even close to turning a profit, ever. MLG is very picky and does a ton of brand and game promotions and the little guys have very little overhead - BtS runs from a single house. RedBull only cares about brand recognition, which they have been doing very well. Riot throws money everywhere they go to clear the way. Maybe Blizzard + ESL ?

I hope it works out or at least that they have it setup so that failure doesn't endanger their EU branch.

Geoff lives in SF, this studio is in LA. highly doubt he becomes a full time caster for WCS

But this is great news. Having such an established organization move into the States is great. Right now we only have MLG and thats just not enough.

Eh, not as American as Polt or Stephano, but close, I'll grant that.

Then maybe your Esports organisations should stop being poor? Ever though about that? If they were less poor, they wouldn't need dirty EuroSports money to come and save them.

The ESL WCS Monopoly. Incontrol and Rotterdam casting shall be awesome.

Omg make this happen. I need Incontrol casting full time. He is as all American as it gets.

Eh, not as American as Polt or Stephano, but close, I'll grant that.

I guess the main motivation is that it is nice for WCS America to be located in America somewhere.

Then maybe your Esports organisations should stop being poor? Ever though about that? If they were less poor, they wouldn't need dirty EuroSports money to come and save them.

They're even worse than poor now. They're dead

Where's the LA studio going to be? Will they just rent the old nasl studio?

Burbank. The studio was signed before NASL shut down. Actually the deal has been in the works since August....and the talking phase since about 2007.

Ah cool. Jay Leno closes up shop in burbank and Fallon moves show to NY, leaving an empty studio in burbank. Coincidence?

Well, Kennigit just said they have been talking since August, so WCS AM may have sped up things, but it definitely wasn't the only reason.

i really like incontrol's game insights, love him as a host/desk analyst. as a main caster? ehhh... not so much. sometimes his passive aggressive inside joke-ish trolling humor can get old when i'm just trying to watch a game

but overall this is cool and i'm excited

As expected by most, ESL NA will be responsible for WCS America from Season 2 onwards with Rotterdam and Nathanias as commentators
