Good draws for foreigners overall, I think.
|
MC vs Stardust will be sick!
|
Two zvts? Yes, please! I think the foreigners actually have a decent chance in this.

Vortix looks pretty good in ZvT lately while jjakji has been a little unconvincing. Could see him and maybe even Snute advancing if they keep playing pretty well
|
If everythings turns out as i think it will, San is gonna take it in the finals vs Vortix.
Will be sick without a doubt!
|
MC > Stardust Jjakji > Vortix MMA > Snute San > Welmu
JJajki > MC San > MMA
JJajki > San

We might have a foreigner at the GSL Global Tournament if all goes according to plan.
|
Vortix will smash Jjakji, won't even be close, Snute will very likely beat MMA. PvP, don't know, don't care.

Foreigners have a very good chance, I think Snute can take this.

OH yeah I like this. I really hate matches with Protoss so it's great to have 2 TvZs while the Protosses knock out each other. :D
|
Really good draws for the foreigners. Vortix and Snute played really well in ZvT in the ro16 and Welmu has always been a beast in PvP!
|
Vortix beat Jjakji AND Stardust fairly recently, and has a pretty good record against Stardust overall, not to mention his ZvT being pretty unstoppable. So I can easily see him blasting through to claim a spot in the Global Tournament.
|
Wow Snute and vortix must be fairly happy with their draws given how they've been playing vs Terran lately. Predicting stardust jjakji Snute and San to advance
|
|
|
Somehow I think MMA will get serious now and win this season easily.
|
|
|
If welmu can make it past whoever wins from snute/mma, he will beat stardust in the finals
|
San to win it all. Manliest active progamer.
|
MC 3 - 1 Stardust JJakji 3-2 Vortix MMA 3-1 Snute San 3-0 Welmu
MC 3-1 JJakji San 3-2 MMA
MC 4-2 San

I'm really sad to see that Nerchio didn't make it through

Jjakji > Stardust MMA > San
MMA > Jjakji
How I think it will go

Is it me, or do have the drawings for the whole EU WCS look a little fixed so as to improve the odds of having a variety of races throughout the competition?
In the RO32, there isnt a single group with 2 terrans. Since terran is the least represented race in the RO32, then spreading them out one per group prevents TvT which could force a terran out therefore increasiong the chances of Terrans getting through. Also in the RO32, there isnt a single group with 3 Zerg, this benefits zerg as fewer ZvZ means Z is less likely to be forced out. There are no groups with 3 Protoss as this would guarantee a protoss getting through, and since they are the most represented race they already have good odds of representation in the RO16.
The RO16 has two groups where there were 3 toss in them, this forces at least two protoss out. Thus preventing the RO8 from having more Protoss. Also, the zerg are spread out one in each group, thus preventing ZvZ.
Then in the Quaterfinals there are two matchups where it is Protoss vs Protoss.. thus forcing 2 Protoss out, making it impossible for the semifinals to be all Protoss.
It just feels to me like the groups have been set up so that each stage has a larger variety of races.
Thats not to say they've decided on who plays who; they could choose the race for each spot in each group and then filled those spots randomly
It could just be totally random, if i could be bothered I'd do some maths.
|
Snute is the best foreigner these days (or maby one of the Chinese players) I hope he can win it...
|
Pretty sure that StarDust will take this no problems.

You kind of only focus on the "forcing out" and they DID do a live drawing for Ro16 and Ro8. But anyway, this could be flipped on its head and say "They are making SURE there are two protoss in the Semifinals by having two PvPs" Because if there was one toss in each match, a no-toss semifinals could have happened, same with the 3/4 zerg groups.
|
Snute tweeting that if he can just get past MMA it's just cash-hosts to the championship haha :D he seems pretty happy with his draw
|
I'm very convinced of Stardust - San finals.

Pretty balanced bracket. Would've like 1 less PvP though

My point was that the probability of diversity was increased. By making sure there are 2 guaranteed protosses, they increase the probability of diversity by preventing 4 protoss going through or no protoss going through.
But i cant really argue with the whole live drawing thing.. you got me there.

I think a lot will come down to Welmu vs San and MC vs Stardust, but I'm predicting a San/Stardust final or San/Vortix final

ESL admin said that they have some rules. He posted it in TL. I remember few things from it. There cant be more than 1 player from his country in his group. (This ofc wasnt possible in ro16 anymore.) And groups were also decided so that there are max of 2 players of each race in group (ro32)

Goddamnit, why did welmu have to have the hardest oppo available. Well i still trust in him.
|
Haven't there been a trend that foreigners have been able to do well at the start of tournaments only to get smashed in bracket play? I'd be so happy if they could turn that around and get a big win this time around, keep them nerves in check!
Rooting for Snute ofc

VortiX is going to dismantle Jjakji. If he plays as well as he did in the Vasacast and vs MMA and MVP, he will just easily win the tournament without any problems.
|
Stardust 1 - 3 MC Vortix 3 - 1 jjakji Snute 3 - 2 MMA San 3 - 2 Welmu
MC 2 - 3 Vortix Snute 2 - 3 San
Vortix - San - I don't really know xD

I have to say that WCS EU starts at so horrible times. So late. Luckly Welmu plays at friday so I don't need to wake up early

Looks like Ro4: Stardust Vortix MMA San, Finals Vortix MMA and winner MMA
|
MMA ! Lets go and avenge Mvp !
|
Seriously? Stardust last place in the poll?
|
Welmu got probably the hardest opponent possible, BUT it's PvP so it is possible. If he manages to beat San, he has a chance to go to the finals. Though the more likely scenario is VortiX vs. San in the finals. like others have said. But I have to cheer for the Finn!
|
Very unfortunate for the toss players.

Well after seeing MMA vs Snute just now in the team showmatch I dont think Snute can win a BO5 vs MMA :/

Pretty accurate.. except the finals IMO
Edit - actually not quite much - think we'll see finals between MC and MMA again.. MC would have a much better chance vs MMA than vs San though, so hope he could win that
Though must say - very surprised people voting for Vortix on 1st and Snute on 3rd place.. Would be nice if they got to ro4, or even in the finals one of them
|
Vortix has great TvZ so he has good chances against Jjakji but he could have problems with protoss players. MC can't win a PvP recently so I am afraid he is out.
MMA can take Snute out no problem when he is in top form and he also has solid chances against protoss players.
So in my opinion, either MMA or San/Stardust.

Hope that San takes that.

Nationalities in the NA + EU regions WCS vs Koreans, stats :
EU RO32 - 8 koreans (25%) 6 passed (3 as 1st and 3 as 2nd in grps) tot maps koreans vs eu = 13 - 7 (about 35% are won by eu)
EU RO16 - 6 koreans (37,5%) 5 passed (2 as 1st, 3 as 2nd in grps) tot maps koreans vs eu : 19 - 10 (about 34,5% are won by eu)
EU RO8 - 5 koreans (62,5%)
NA RO32 - 17 koreans (53%) 7 passed (6 as 1st and 1 as 2nd in grps) tot maps koreans vs na = 24 - 15 (about 38,5% are won by na)
and if only counting the 4 from USA plus the 4 from CAN (not china, mexico etc) (25%) 1 usa + 2 can passed of those 8 tot maps koreans vs can = 7-3 and vs usa = 4-3, total = 11 - 6 (about 35% are won)
NA RO16 - 10 koreans (62,5%) (and 1usa + 2can + 3china; usa+ca=19%)
NA RO8 - x koreans (x%)
something to compare etc by :-)
whom will be the new foreigner to step forward? Statswise they win one of three maps. Welmu, Snute, Vortix are left in EUro8 while already in NAro16 only Puck, Neeb and Huk are left. - with all hopes on their shoulders/behind em! and will/can any of them be consistent in beating korean opponents, from now on and beyond? all is possible, it´s starcraft! enjoy :-)
ps. expand into more regions maybe blizz, and let an " all regions finals" be also a qualifier into an individual "worlds" maybe?

Snute destroyed again and again by MMA today in Acer vs Liquid. Can't be too good for morale.
|
That is why I think the snute vs MMA match is gonna be crazy! Adds for more storyline!
Snute will get a chance for revenge, but will he succeed or will his morale be busted?
|
I hope very much for a European to win WCS EU, and with recent successes, it feels more possible than last year somehow even without Naniwa and Stephano. The Problem (with a capital P) is that the local heroes now have to be at their very best when it counts the most. I hope they have it in them to bring out the very best now and also that they have just the little luck they need! Vortix vs Uncle Snute / Welmu in the final, that would really be a dream final.
|
Only if one of em are able of beating 3 good koreans in a row (and in bo5-matches I assume) which seems very unlikely but let's keep the hope up regardless.

I am so excited for this! MC MMA finals would be sick

Very interesting brackets. Would have loved to have seen 2 foreign toss' instead of 3 Korean and 1 foreign, but 2 foreign Zergs vs 2 Korean Terrans, then 2 PvP's to greet them in the semis? Awesome socks!

San ezpz. Just like last year's MVP protoss that won, he is going to take over. Vortix is going to get the furthest because everyone seems to be losing TvZ in EU. Just don't see him beating out either MC or Stardust in PvZ though.
