Going for Rain, Maru and JD here. I wish I could Life, but he just falling behind bit by bit every tourney. Rain, because he is the most stable and intelligent protoss in the scene. Maru because he is young innovative and because screw MKP :D Oh and I forgot to add a team! I think I cheer for KT here. STX is nice and Woongjin, well sad story...
I never really bought the Dear hype. Rain and sOs were more consistent overall for the year and fairly close in results. Yet, I can't help but feel sOs contributed more to protoss innovation. For that I'd give him the edge. Also he won WCS, so there's that.
Tough call between the Zergs. I have to give it to Soulkey, mainly because he was so consistent in the hardest region.
Team:
SPL champs and did well in individual league too.
IMO
I'm assuming the team category puts heavy weight on SPL. Otherwise, I have no idea why KT is there and SKT and IM are not. They did way better overall for 2013. STX is the clear winner though.
sOs narrowly edges out Dear for me. The WCS championship is a huge deal and sOs contributed heavily to the development of protoss during the year. I'll never forget his use of hallucinations and warp prisms in PvT during the first season of WCS KR. Impressive as fuck.
It is really close between Maru and INnoVation for me. INnoVation was very dominant for a time and actually looked like a true bonjwa to me, but Maru's string of performances during the second half of the year was extraordinary (1st OSL, 3-4th GSL, 3-4th S3 Finals, 3-4th Blizzcon). One could think of 2013 HotS separated into two reigns, with Maru ascending the throne with his 4-0 victory over INnoVation in the semifinals of the OSL.
Rain ( The thing is sOs feels more like an ''MVP'' since he won wcs but in terms of all year skill display Rain is probably #1 all race included ) INnoVation ( because no other Terran can keep up ) Jaedong (He feels like an MVP zerg with his 2013 )
Rain, Bogus and SoulKey. That was fucking easy. As for the team... well shit, STX did beat Stars in the end, but my God Stars had a ridiculously good season. >_< Fan boy votes are already messing this thing up.
Jaedong makes more sense than Flash when it comes to Zerg, but even then if we look at the entire year of 2013. There is only one and his name is SoulKey.
If KT Rolster wins the MVP team award I'm going to be fucking pissed at blind fanboyism. Woongjin had the third most dominant regular season in PL history, and STX has spawned three top-class individual league players, two of which have been considered possibly best in the world for a period of a couple months each.
P MVP: sOs should win, rain might depending on how greatly they value proleague T MVP: Innovation, from top to bottom his 2013 was great from an individual and proleague standpoint. Z MVP: Soulkey for above reasons and the fact that JD was mediocre for 1st half of 2013 and konged it up for the 2nd half Team MVP: STX Soul and if you say otherwise you're a commie that hates freedom.
(P) Rain,(T) INnoVation and (Z) Soulkey, Rain won the Hot6ix cup, INnoVation needs no explanation and Soulkey Number 1 zerg and player in WCS ranking 2013, gogogo, SKT1 Rain win IEM cologne and make toss proud, and also glhf in SPL Proleague, would love if you made it into the finals of GSL season 1
Terran: INnoVation Yep, scary as Hellin early 2013, looked the most "invincible" amongst the three nominee. All three of them were really good throughout 2013, but INnoVation looked above everything else (though he's dropped a bit since then)
Protoss: Dear Justfor the back to back WCS, along with a Royal road in the process.
Zerg: Soulkey Okay, JD finally won something after numerous 2nd place, but I think Soulkey was the most consistent at the Top of SC2 (though not the very top, but it still feels he could be top 4 in any tournament he enters, from GSL to any foreign WE-long tournament).
Team:STX Soul Hands down. The way they won proleague just places them over both WJS and KT IMO.
Soulkey deserves the MVP award just because he refuses to ladder on a barcode, at least that was a few seasons back, not sure whether he still continued doing so.

LOL GOM awards best thing ever. well, my predictions: Zerg: Seriously i don't want to be the one to decide if jd or sk was better this year, both crazy good and consistent, mb in the end it's soulkey because of his crazy gsl and SPL performance, whereas jd didn't do too well in the SPL.
Protoss: oh boy, it's not rain that's for sure. sOs is the WCS champion, therefore i give an edge to him, though Dear had some crazy good games. i still would say sOs, innovative, crazy mindgames, maybe wasn't the most stable player of the year, but definetely the best protoss.
Terran: It's Bogus, SPL, GSTL, did poorly for his ambitions in individual tournament during the end of the year, but he did lead both of his teams to championships with amazing games and records. bogus is da man!
Team:certainly not KT, personally i would give the award to the SPL champion, STX should have this.

KT had a second place finish, and a 3-0 HotS record against the league leaders WJS. KT produced the proleague player with most wins. KT had the best record for a race in the entire league with KT terrans going 62% (despite Mind and Barracks pulling them down). Also, KT managed to stay alive unlike their 2 contenders. 2 teams nonexistent, KT wins by default.
Also, MVP Team is such a terrible award name; it means Most Valuable Player Team. It should just be Most Valuable Team.
Toss: Dear with back to back titlesna deep run in blizzcon and stellar play Rain was meh at points and sOs was I dunno also good but I tought Dear was better.
Zerg: Soulkey without question.
Terran: INnoVation had an amazing 2013 and was the most dominant for the longest period. He was also undisputedly the king of Teamleagues leading his team(s) to a PL, GSTL and ATC with a stellar record. Also won wcs season 1 finals and was a threat in every individual tournament always making deep runs and(!)produced some of the best games of the year. And has an amazing singing voice and is handsome no bias.

Oh, and Life and Dear.
STX needs it too.
I'd love to say that Bomber is the best terran, but even with a few ounces of fanboyism, it doesn't compute... My heart says Bomber but my head just yells INno...

Definitely SoS in toss for me. Not only did he have a stunning 2013 year, but he completely revolutionized Protoss play in every MU. And made for so many entertaining games (mass VR into phenix into DT, what ?).

Which is as fun to watch as Swarm Hosts into Mutas into Ultra/Festor.
No wait, actually, Mutas and Ultra/Festor is fun to watch!
STX should win for team probably. As much as I love him, and I love him a lot, Life probably shouldn't be up in top 3 zergs of 2013 just based on his lack of WCS results.
For Terran, my heart says INnoVation, since he's been a monster in the first part of HotS, and while he definitely faltered with the hellbat nerf, he's still a teamleague powerhouse.
Nevertheless, my head says Maru, since he's the current top-dog Terran in GSL. That doesn't mean I don't enjoy Bomber's quality of games, though.
For Protoss, I have to say Dear, head and heart. Rain hasn't popped up on my radar as of late, though GSL might change things. sOs feels like a one-hit wonder, even though he's not; he's just been pulling rather mediocre results since his win at BlizzCon, if his Proleague stats are anything to go by. Dear won back-to-back tournaments, and most recently went deep in ASUS ROG. Yes, it's technically 2014, but the tournaments were not.
For Zerg... it's close, but I think Jaedong will have to be my pick. Despite Soulkey's incredible consistency in the GSL world, I think Jaedong is just the more entertaining of the two for the duration of 2013. I feel that Life is a tad too inconsistent or under-the-radar for much of 2013.
Take it with a grain of salt; I don't follow the scene with glued eyes, so I'm bound to miss some nice games here or there.
I think terran is the most controversial, but I can't even decide on protoss either. Dear or sOs atleast. For zerg I think Soulkey is pretty clear, but case can be made for Jaedong I guess Team STX ofc!
consistent top gsl players, always there in ro8, ro4. yes innovation started slumping later in 2013 but still i dont see maru and bomber ever reaching his skill speak.
- He is always a top contender in anything that he plays in. His mechanics are crazy strong ("That's some Bomber-level macro!") and he's a cool guy all around. Plus he's my second favorite player in SC2.
- This one was easy. There was no Zerg that was even close to as good as Soulkey was throughout the year. His play was always strong, and achieved the most. Plus he's my favorite player in SC2.
- This one was hard. I wanted to pick Woongjin as they were one of my favorite teams of all time. However KT did very well, and they still exist. Existing is a good thing to accomplish at the end of the day year.
Zerg on the other hand is tough. Lifes good, but imo he didn't show the strong results of soulkey/jaedong. Unfortunately Soulkey didn't play in too many tournaments, but he made consistent deep runs in almost every tournament he played on. Jaedong also did. I would pick jaedong, but in honesty hard to say who will win this one :D.
This is for Korea results in Esports only correct? or what? How is JD in this when he competes in America. Or is this more like a personality awards or people picked based on being liked by fans? Soulkey has done so much more than JD in a harder environment.
Half of the year in Code A, uninspiring in team leagues and gets awarded best Terran of the year? Dat bias lol
half the year in code A? good joke, this guy was the most consistent player for the second half of 2013
Not to mention the only time he was not in Code S last year was in last WoL season because he got kicked by Soulkey into Code A Ro48 previous season and lost there.
So happy for him, what a legend. So sad he didn't win the last WCGs.
wow that is fucking amazing. one of the most inspiring players of all time easily for anybody that ever followed war3. he deserves all the recognition he can get.
