TL; DR: wait for it
ofc they would deny and say nothing sets in stone yet because yeah, everything is in negotiation. But it doesnt take a philosophy to know the the three teams are joining KeSPA (thus refusing participation in GSTL)

I wonder if StarTale regrets disbanding their LoL team awhile back now.

He has connections to KeSPA and esports teams and his "rumors" are taken seriously, especially when he did not specifically say that the source of the rumors were unreliable. He could translate whatever rumour he wants. It's his twitter account sheesh >< Idc if he has connections to KeSPA or the teams, people wanted to know about the KR scene, he translated and said it was a rumour then the community grabbed on to it like that. There is a reason its called a rumour and by definition, it means it might or might not be right! He doesn't even work for PL last time I checked(he left to continue education or something I believe) so you can't really say that he was unprofessional when he's not working for them. It doesn't matter if it's his twitter account or not. He's connected to KeSPA and esports, so his rumors have credibility. You don't just go spread bunch of unfounded rumors that affect your formal employer negatively, that's unprofessional. He was stupid enough to spread the rumors and had to make formal apology to the Koreans on his twitter. I disagree. While I understand your point, 'he used to work' is in past tense meaning doesn't anymore. Of course, that doesn't mean he doesn't have any relationship with KeSPA and the teams but we can't just assume that they would go ahead and tell him secret info just because of his past dealings with them.
My point is that even when he said it's a rumour and even tweeted that it's the case and he doesn't know if its true or not, the community(and seems like the KR community as well) took it at face value and figured that it has to be true. Heck, I even thought that maybe because of his past job with PL, that there may be a source for his rumours but even then, I knew they are rumours and until we got confirmation, nothing is set in stone. Point? I think the community is way too harsh on snm for merely translating rumours from the KR community. He already apologized to the Koreans etc... because maybe he felt he should've been more clear or just avoided the subject altogether because he didn't realize people will take it at face value and forget its a rumour.

Well, their LoL team wasn't that good at the time they let them go, so I don't think it was a bad decision at the time, esp. if they were tight on money. Admittedly I don't follow the scene so I don't know how the players have shaped up since then.

You just summed up my point right there. He spread the rumors without giving it much thought and he should not have done so because people take him seriously due to his connections in esports and KeSPA.

3/5 made the finals of this season's Champions.
And the coach of the winning team was on Startale LoL as well.

no one on their right minds would believe them on leaving ESF for such a crappy reason... just another celebrity-like answers.... obviously leaving ESF is joining KESPA...

So who are the GSTL teams now? I think it's too few for a proper tourney.
EDIT: Currently 5 teams! How is that?!

Amazing, so many things changing in the world of SC2 but mostly outside the game. As long as the players get great tournaments and the fans get great games.

oh I cant tell you how happy I am to hear that MVP isnt disbanding their sc2 team!

It does place them in an awkward place, since having both teams (especially one has good as Ozone) means better chances for all of MVP to thrive, Is that really the case? MVP.LoL has a few sponsors that don't sponsor MVP.SC2, notably resulting in MVP.SC2 doing a fundraiser to travel to Germany for Acer TeamStory Cup.
Having a good LoL team is probably helpful for MVP to go full KeSPA.

This said so little, no reason at all to not play in GSTL if pro league won't start until its finished unless there is more going on with Kespa (incredibly likely). Less money/exposure/motivation for your team, a lot players stuck in code A/B have almost nothing to do until next years WCS now :/
|
Sigh, these don't really tell us anything. Diplomatic answers as expected. I guess we can only hope for the best, I don't follow LoL at all and have no clue about what's going on there but from what I can tell it seems like LoL is a major reason for a lot of this.
Teams redirecting funding into LoL teams, leaving eSF to join KeSPA for LoL proleague... IMO I've always wanted/wished LG-IM would join KeSPA as a sponsored team but issues with LG then all this =S
When the dust clears I hope SC2 comes out stronger.

How does Startale manage to groom the best everything?

Just woke up, saw the last 4 news... my mind is boggled.
|
Somewhat curious as to which LoL team MVP is negotiating sales for with Samsung Khan. I don't see why MVP would sell Ozone if they plan to continue on as a team since it's by far their greatest asset, but I see no reason Khan would want MVP Blue (not that they are completely awful, but they are fairly average and Khan would probably have better luck trying to groom their own team).
It's a tough situation for MVP I guess. Ozone is my favorite LoL team and I always appreciate the team that fosters the right environment for players to excel which clearly MVP has done here ; I would be sad to see them swap to Khan and see MVP crumble afterwards.
|
This is all getting crazy. Especially with the LoL stuff thrown in. Best to not read too much of this until its finalized. What could all of this mean for the scene though?
