you might wanna replace "Kang", "Choi", "Park" with "IM Coach", "Prime Coach", "MVP Coach" so it's easier to read.

He actually said that they weren't disbanding... However, he did say that there was a rumor they were going to disband. Two different things. He was correct.

Somewhat curious as to which LoL team MVP is negotiating sales for with Samsung Khan. I don't see why MVP would sell Ozone if they plan to continue on as a team since it's by far their greatest asset, but I see no reason Khan would want MVP Blue (not that they are completely awful, but they are fairly average and Khan would probably have better luck trying to groom their own team).

It's a tough situation for MVP I guess. Ozone is my favorite LoL team and I always appreciate the team that fosters the right environment for players to excel which clearly MVP has done here ; I would be sad to see them swap to Khan and see MVP crumble afterwards.

Im assuming both teams are negotiating with MVP Ozone because ozone's contract is running out soon. (GUESSING.)
If that's the case you can be sure as hell MVP Ozone is gonna be Samsung Khans, you can't outbid Samsung if they're serious (especially if you aren't a premiere sponsor like SKT,KT,Samsung, etc...)
If not than i guess MVP is gonna transfer MVP Blue to Samsung, and then (Samsung) will restructure the team as they see fit.

Man, this interview is the epitome of Korean culture, hiding negative things until the end or being unable to own up to any faults. It's like when you're applying for a job in Korea and ask about salary, and they keep saying, "we'll talk about it later," until you sign up with them.

This is all getting crazy. Especially with the LoL stuff thrown in. Best to not read too much of this until its finalized. What could all of this mean for the scene though?

In the end it just means that teams are getting their priorities straight and relocate their resources to where it makes sense (LoL). This isn't that bad for sc2, it just means sc2 (in korea) isn't growing that fast, but it's also getting more stable. The scene in korea was oversaturated after KeSPA switched to sc2 and it was just a matter of time until a bunch of people retired/teams were downsized. It's not the biggest e-sports but still huge on a global scale and will surely stick around until sc3/wc4 is released. I think, we as fans have nothing to worry about.
Maru and Serral are probably top 5.

Considering how opposed Lim Jae Duk once was against KeSPA back when he was eSF president,
what does this mean for his future in IM ?

Yes, I agree with you here, Ozone makes the most sense for a transfer here, and indeed, Khan has far more financial power. I didn't realize their contract was about to end however ; that pretty much settles the matter. Thats very bad news for MVP however because a premier LoL team could have been their ticket to financial stability in the future.

Okay, so let me get this straight.

A team has financial issues, and needs to get them sorted out. They need to find sponsors. So they stop participating in an event which shows that you can get eyeballs to watch your team play, and show sponsors that your team can draw attention to their product.

What?

I'm crying for Prime.

Edited second though...

I would appreciate it if people didn't spread rumors without being absolutely sure.

I would appreciate actual informational content and statements that are absolutely correct from people that should know better. This information management stuff is part of why foreign audiences rely on rumours - more often than not, they're closer to the truth than you will ever say. (Unless they're totally, 100% Bogus.)
Yes, I email sponsors... to thank them. Don't post drunk, kids. My king, what has become of you?

I'm crying for Prime.

I think the official reasoning is that they left ESF to allow for more financial options (since ESF didn't allow player salaries, and I guess this affects the kind of sponsorship they can receive.) And then because of this transition period, they did not feel like committing themselves to an entire league season before this situation is resolved.

GOMTV and ESF are separate entities.

Of course there are the political implications of freeing themselves from the ESF, and associated GSTL, possibly involved with their option to join Kespa.

Feel sorry for GOM and Mr.Chae.

They did so much for early sc2 scene only to get shafted in the end.

There's no truth to the SC2 team disbanding. We took first place in the regular season of the previous GSTL season, second place in the final rankings, and Duckdeok won the championship at WCS Europe Season 2. Seven of our players (5 in Korea, 2 in Europe) are in the Premier League. I don't know how such a rumor gets out in such a great situation. I would appreciate it if people didn't spread rumors without being absolutely sure.

Dude... How is that an argument ? :D

STX Soul won the damn Proleague, having one of the best player in the world who took last WCS KR, and look what happened...

How did the team's financial difficulties factor in?

Park: As it is well known, eSF teams cannot give salaries to players and are in difficult situations financially, unlike the KeSPA teams. Our team, too, was difficultly run up to this point, and sponsorships are the most urgent issue. If KeSPA can help us in this regard, then we could think positively about joining KeSPA.

Why are esf teams not allowed to pay salaries? Or did I misunderstood something...

They are allowed to of course, but they can't. They don't have the money. All they can provide for the players is housing and food. Often they even have to take a part of the winnings from the players, that's how they run. I think there are exceptions. Like the startale aces maybe.

They also hurt the teams by not releasing stream numbers and they have obviously failed to aquire sponsors for the teams.
