Also you forgot that Creator won WCS Korea last year as a major korean tournament. (and yes, it was major, all korean top players were in it and the pricepool was not that low either.)

Rain made stupid uncharacteristic mistakes in the second half of the series. Very disappointing finals. Just hope that Maru doesn't end up being the next Jjakji/Seed/Sniper and ends up going nowhere after this.

what a coincidence. prime like many teams who need money in the past, the players on them teams just out of nowhere always start beating the best in the world. not a surprise. while some tourneys arent scripted, some are for the longevity and greatness of the game like NFL

Very happy to see such a dedication being paid off. The kid was playing SC2 since he was 13.. (doing math by the fact that he's 16 now) Can you imagine how much potential he has. MKP has been picking up steam again lately and hopefully DRG could regain his might sooner or later. Granted I have become respectful of Rain and his non-cheesy play (compared to just about every other Chee-toss'es), but he already has won the title once and he can afford to take the 2nd place.

Artosis needs to stop predicting games. I don't believe in curses or anything tomfoolery like that, but his predictions are spoiling results.

Imo he shouldn't be called royal roader, as current OSL is kinda combined with GSL, where Maru has played for many seasons.

But it doesn't make his achievement any lesser, and i do love seeing some new players at the very top!

GOM and OGN have been pretty insistent that these tournaments are separate even if they are partnered with the WCS.

The Nestea Award (10 consecutive Code S seasons in GSL) wasn't counted in this season for that same reason.

At the end of the day, they are the ones giving out the titles and awards. It's their decision to make. In this case Maru: despite being older than Life and a veteran of the GSL; is now the youngest OSL Royal Roader ever.

Lol artosis actually predicted rain? Why am I not surprised ...

Kinda lackluster finals though. The most entertaining game for me was game 3 actually. I was convinced if rain won that game he would have won the series

Artosis should stop predicting or he will be ruining esports...

Thanks for the write up.

Congratulations Maru!

Maybe now the Power Rank will respect his achievements. He just defeated the #1 and #2 consecutively and won the most difficult individual tournament in the world.

There is no doubt who is the best SC2 player in the world right now.

lmfao. countless iterations of the phrase "the best SC2 player in the world right now" are thrown around so carelessly these days, it absolutely chuffs me up.

Maru is amaaaaaazing. Deserves the championship. But you, and nobody in the whole world, could possibly know who the best SC2 player in the world is. It kills me to hear Tasteless and Artosis literally crown a new "best player in the world" every few months, sometimes even WEEKS. The funniest part, is the best player in the world is probably some unknown kid in his basement.

I figured out how the artosis curse works. It provides a passive +7 stat boost to all the stats they show at the begining of the game to the player he predicts against.
In Hearthstone we pray to RNGesus. When Yogg-Saron hits the field, RNGod gets to work

My Hail Mary bet on Maru paid off! I'm smarter than all of you!
That's so amazing for him though, congrats to both him and Rain on an awesome season
