Team MVP was one of two South Korean teams to enter the first international team league held by Acer Inc. which began earlier this year, the other being FXO.Kr whom MVP defeated early on. The four participating MVP players have expressed their excitement to attend, for some of them, it will be the first time competing on European soil. As the nature of Acer TeamStory Cup will be friendly similar to that of the well known and beloved HomeStoryCup, fans who attend can expect to spend some time with their favorite players in person. Team MVP would like to announce that they will be holding special autograph sessions for fans on both days at ATC in front of Limerick's Barcraft. Team merchandise will also be sold for those who are interested in eSports collectibles, of which will include for the first time to the public, the MVP's team jerseys and smart phone accessories. So if you're in town, come say hi! In addition, since travel expenses from Korea to Germany has been costly for players (yes plane tickets have already been purchased), the four MVP players have decided to do a small fundraiser to help recoup some of the costs. Currently, Team MVP is without an international travel sponsor, though this was not the case when they entered the TeamStory Cup. It was not the team's intent to irresponsibly join an event in which they could not afford. However, over the last several months, the situation has changed unexpectedly. Not wanting to disappoint fans and tournament organizers, the team responsibly purchased travel expenses at an outstanding loss. Thus, the idea of a fundraiser was hatched to reclaim some of the unexpected expenses which befell the team, because the harsh reality is, even if MVP takes top place, they will barely break even with the cost spent for travel to this tournament. All is not doom and gloom, however. Though the situation at hand is difficult, MVP's future is hopeful. Head Coach Choi of the team has stated that he is looking to work with several international sponsors in the near future to ensure travels will remain stable for the team. Attending ATC in Germany and hopefully, winning, may greatly influence how favorable some of these potential sponsors view MVP. "There is great opportunity in competing internationally," Choi says, "We are hoping to continue bringing our brand abroad and connecting with our fan base and business Partners outside of Korea." Besides running Starcraft II team MVP, which most recently won the 2013 IGN ProTeam League (IPTL) and was runner up in Korea's GomTV Global StarCraft II Team League Season 1(GSTL), Choi also manages a successful LoL team, MVP Ozone, which recently took first place in OGN's Olympus Champions Spring, 2013. StarCraft II MVP team is currently being sponsored by Lotte ChilSung and Razer. In the past, their international travels were covered by partnership with Complexity Gaming, Team MYM, Soundblaster and Center Point gear. The Players Attending:+ Show Spoiler +![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/ZCKo64Z.jpg) MVP Dream is a rising star within the team. He first gained international fame by attaining second place in IEM Katowice earlier this year. Dream is currently in Code S for 2013 WCS KR Season 3 after crushing legends such as FanTaSy and RorO with 2:0 victories. He is currently on a winning streak with 7-kills under his belt. Dream's TvZ and TvP winrates are both above 75% in Heart of the Swarm. ![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/wNGz0hS.jpg) MVP KeeN has long been a fan favorite since the early days of Wings of Liberty. He is famous for his outgoing attitude and celebrations in team leagues victories. Keen's solid mechanics and remarkable game senses make him a dangerous foe. In Heart of the Swarm, his TvP winrates exceeds 70%. Keen is currently in Code S for the 2013 WCS KR Season 3. ![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/28NHCMs.jpg) Two-time MLG Champion, GSL Champion, IEM Champion, Dreamhack Champion, 2012 OSL runner up, Iron Squid II runner up. MVP DongRaeGu was one of the most successful StarCraft II Wings of Liberty player, ever. Though he is still trying to find his stride in Heart of the Swarm, his recent 2x Quarter Finalist results at IEM Shanghai and ASUS ROG Summer suggest that his form is once again on the rise. DRG is currently in Up & Down groups for the 2013 WCS KR Season 3. ![[image loading]](http://i.imgur.com/EIrA1lE.jpg) MVP Super is the de facto ace player for MVP in the team league arena. Super has no bad matchup and his PvT winrate currently reaches an astounding 85%. Super famously performed an All-kill on the previous GSTL Champion, team FXO.Kr. Since then, he has successfully closed out many league matches for his team in GSTL and ATC, notably for the series against team Startale and Prime. Super is currently in Code S for the 2013 WCS KR Season 3. Fundraising Event Details:Part I. Hey guys, The Team MVP fundraiser will start soon, so I want to give you all an update:
Fundraiser Breakdown
In the interest of being transparent, I'll give you a breakdown of where the money goes:
The money spent for ATC Travels is $1800.00/person for plane tickets from Korea to Germany, both ways. There are five people going: DRG, KeeN, Super, Dream and Coach Choi.
That comes out to $9000.00. Of course ATC is paying $1500 for travels for the whole team, so that brings our deficit down to $7500.00 Even if you count the $2000.00 prize from 4th place, the remaining loss is still $5,500.00. So we're hoping to raise a few dollars to cut down this loss. Any money raised exceeding the amount needed will be saved and used for future travels.
What this money does is more than just send a few people to a far away tournament. Without the prospect of this fundraiser working, team MVP would have likely not been able to attend ATC this following weekend. As mentioned previously, this was due to their international travel sponsor dropping support recently, so they're in a bit of a jam right now. If MVP decided not to go, which they could have, it would have hurt the players, the tournament organizers, the fans and our Starcraft II scene. Instead, the players got together their own pocket money to buy plane tickets anyway. These guys are dedicated to their sport, they want to keep playing and meet with their fans abroad.
So if you watch this event today or participate in it by going into battle.net, if you like what you see and you want to support the team in their time of need, then by all means, pitch in a few dollars.

Only 4 players? I guess it makes sense with an ace revive, and it cuts down on costs. Very lean roster though

duckdeok is still in Europe and may join the roster, but that's still undecided at this time.

Well, it's their four best players after NAKSEO retired.

We'll have more information on donations when the event comes closer to live. No need to bog down this cool announcement with money figures and numbers.

esl studios are in cologne, the atc finals are in krefeld, thats around 60km or 38 miles. its rly just the next city ^_^ you wont fly 8580 km (air line) and then not meet your teammate 60km further ^^

What about their best Zerg? The one that won a GSL.

I don't really consider Axiom a korean team. They're not eSF if I recall correctly.
And it really was FXO.kr.

Sniper has fallen way off in the individual league, but can apparently still cut it in a team setting; I think he's the better choice.

Agreed 100% ^^ People love DRG, Sniper....not so much. Any zerg on the roster would be at best the third scariest player they send. Regardless who is better between Sniper and DRG, teams will have to get past Keen and Super, which is quite the daunting task.

Hm, I wonder why Lotte hasn't picked up MVP yet, they're a fairly large chaebol and they own the Giants. Ozone has been performing excellently and OGN LOL is getting insane in korea (+ Proleague incoming soon). Seems pretty prime for Lotte to pick up MVP now.
Also which sponsor did MVP lose oO

I'm pretty sure Lotte does fund the team. Razer is the one with product sponsors and personal sponsorship, they're more sporadic.
And my name isn't jason

I believe those are LoL only, too... I still can't wrap my head around the sponsorship situation. All three MVP LoL teams have Ozone, Expedia, BenQ and of course Hot6ix as their sponsors, with one even being name sponsore by Ozone (which must cost a shitload of money). Couldn't they at least outsource some of their travel cost for their SC2 team, having such a sponsor backing on their LoL end? Is it really that brutally strict that each division of the MVP team has to kinda look out for itself?
Maybe I'm just still being very naive believing that they could outsource costs like that.

Damn it, I read "Fruitdealer" instead of "Fundraiser" first and was getting really exited. However best of luck to MVP.

Haha, yeah that would be incredibly whack of them to give Hot6ix that much exposure just to get free drinks from them, which they probably can't/shouldn't drink that regularly anyway if they want/have to maintain a healthy diet.

Wow With Keen qualifying last night
MVP will be sending 3 Code S players and DRG to Europe! We just need freaking DRG to qualify next week, then it'll be the freaking dream team!
Anyway, we're still looking for casters, especially for the Europe event, if anyone's interested. The team does have a bit of money to pay you by the hour. Just PM me for more info.

Sponsors are very strict where their money goes, you know... It's not like some block grant where you can just do anything with a bunch of money given.
The only time that's the case is with tournament winnings.

didn't their LoL team do pretty good and win some prize money? i can't imagine they're running sc2 teams + two league teams without a big sponsor and not lose money though on the other hand
|
What is happening? Why are all Korean teams losing sponsors??? All of them moving to League/DotA? I heard that MVP Ozone (the best league team in the world basically.) still has a lot of sponsors.
|
Their LoL team is doing fine and has plenty of sponsors. SC2 team is stable but they lost their international travel sponsor in the last few months.
|
Yeah MVP's LoL teams have several sponsors and one of them even is Expedia. If they also sponsored the SC2 team (which they don't) they maybe wouldn't have a travel cost problem.

They did extreemely well, stomping CJ Entus Blaze 3-0 last season finals of OCL and getting huuge exposure with that. I'm 100% sure that MVP as an organization is stable financially. They even have a name sponsorship for their team MVP Ozone, which must bring in a shitload of money
|
Glad to see the guys on MVP getting some recognition: super and dream have been killing it in HotS, and keen is still hanging in there when a lot of other eSF guys are getting smacked around
|
Awwww really hoping to see 5th player Sniper. Really want to see more of his HOTS play. I guess though if they're pushing for funds they can't exactly bring extras.

Now that sounds like something i would like to donate some of my spar change for, do it for the good cause.

We will leave the donation link up with the vods for one week until ATC happens.
|
Feels wrong to ask for donation for this when there are so many worthy causes to donate to in the world. I see it the same as famous directors and producers asking for money on kickstarter or something.
|

Think of it this way.
They're not asking for a donation. They're providing a service to the fans by being there, playing games with fans, giving away stuff having 1v1 interactions for this event. How often do regular fans get a chance to play against Code S level players on battlenet?
In return, it's a pay-as-you-like model, and nobody's forcing anyone to give anything they don't want.
In addition, the money's going towards furthering Starcraft esports. Honestly without this event, the team would have not been able to go because they unexpected lost their travel sponsors. And who gets hurt? The fans, tournament organizers, the professional starcraft scene, etc.
I think we've had enough #starcraftisdying this week. Fans have a lot of power in our scene, more than most. So if you like the team, love the players, enjoy the content being put out in this event, then you pitch in a bit to help these guys out on a bind.
It's that simple.

Event
Part I. America + Show Spoiler [concluded] +
Part II. Europe Date and Time: Sunday 8-11-13; 11:00AM - 3:00PM CEST ( Sunday 6:00PM - 10:00PM KST) Countdown:

Again you can Participate by going on battle.net at the times listed above, Team MVP will either be playing in the American Server (Part I) or European Server (Part II) in StarCraft II Heart of the Swarm battle.net. Just join the chatroom labeled TeamMVPATC for a meet and greet with the players. MVP players will pick fans of their choosing to play custom 1v1 games with. The games will be streamed by the players and casted live in English by commentator (more on that below). Revenue from the stream and any donations will directly sponsor team MVP's travels to ATC.
On behalf of team MVP, I want to say thank you for your kindness and support.

A little annoying for them, but, at the same time, it's also a chance to take a trip to Germany. At some level, it's worth the cost in the first place. Hopefully they can raise most of the money back.

Me too. Would've donated the same regardless, but getting a replay pack is a nice bonus. I feel it's a lot better than the ones that raffle away physical rewards to the donators, cause it defeats the purpose of a donation for people living where the shipping cost is absurd.
|
btw Neoghaleon you should tell DRG to embed his stream to the event here on TL to get some more viewers

not sure either of us (me or DRG) even knows how to do that... lol but the streams are doing fine DRG's stream right now is getting about 3x as many viewers as the english caster stream lol

Great initiative! Made my $10 donation, awaiting replay pack =D

Great initiative, would be a shame if the ATC didn't have some koris to take all the money!

Donated 5 also, if I were you I'd keep the fundraiser open and have players mention it a few times during the event.

Host Good job!!
I am the DRGFANS who finally got the chance to play with keen...Hope DRG will stream on Twitch for more times...

donated 5 bucks! hope it'll work out you guys. Kinda seems unprepared ish. I think with the help of lets say axeltoss or someone who is really into helping out, you wouldve done alot better.

Alex was on vacation for the past week-ish :c If he was around I probably would've poked him haha
|
It was a pleasure to help out with the casting. A bit unfortunate that we overlapped with WCS + Show Spoiler [results] + but there was still a good crowd of people eager to play with/against the MVP players! Including some very good games (some upsets)

Wasn't too bad considering it was short notice, during TI3 + WCS and with less spread via the casters because... they're all tied up with major events/away. But timing is just timing and sometimes you just have to deal with that type of stuff.
Still, 1k is 1/7th of the way there and every bit helps. I hope they can get closer to the goal.
