It's unfortunate that two individuals tried to scam your team however there were still things you could have done to protect your team and your players. As the manager of your team, you should have stepped in from the beginning to stop them from talking to your players or making promises to them until you spoke to them yourself and made a signed agreement on everything. If they weren't willing to sign an actual contract then you shouldn't have tried to work with them. Any company that legitimately works with e-Sports teams would have talked to you first and made a signed agreement with you first.

I know the actual scam wasn't your fault and I don't mean to say this as if I'm blaming you, but I just hope people learn from these things and will take more proper actions when so called "sponsors" try to come in and just make deals by them saying they will fulfill what they claim to offer.

The more I think about it, the dumber it seems. The guy basically said, "here's thousands of dollars of stuff, trust me, I'm legit" and was believe. Even if you have someone trustworthy vouching for you, there's a certain point of promising stuff where the recipient has to turn around and say show me the money.

Wait so did you actually give him any money? You just didn't get your free gear? Not much of a scam is it? The whole things sounds amateurish as fuck and frankly I've never heard of any of you. Just be less stupid next time.

the funny thing is, sMi takes what they want, and put it on blast on TL, and so i been arrested twice? its not end of the world? nor was a convicted of anything...

amd getting money out of the team? not once did i ask money from them, and rei even offered me $200 of his personal money to help w/ things and i rejected it.

THEN one of their members decided to log on my skype and message people saying rude / negative things. such as to desrow, days, and other players.

these statements : false, they only take the things they want and put it on blast.

Desrow was never involved with sMi. Anderson tried to recruit him, but I told him not to because I knew this was going to happen. Then, he messaged and told him that.

As I stated, I was on a hiatus from really managing sMi at the beginning of all of this. Once I found out about things, I told my players NOT to do anything before I talked to these individuals, but that didn't stop everyone from getting contracts and signing things.

I'm trying to figure out this guys angle, and maybe I didn't read the post close enough. How was he trying to scam your team that has no money and no sponsors?

Sad to hear that it turned out this way. This kind of scam happens a lot and just like any team if there was an opportunity given we would go after it. Only thing we can do is just learn and live on.

It wasn't 2k a month. None of the players were offered any more than $500 a month as far as I know. As I said, I was very out of the loop during the very initial stages of all of this.

I would highly suggest you read it. OP did a fantastic job with this thread and put in a lot of effort. So the least you can do is read it.

I think this is the anderson guy trying to dig himself deeper into his hole.

I like how his story involves him giving someone his skype password.
Thats smart.
With Redacted at request in the main topic during andersons confession, I feel its respectful to edit the name of the individual out of some of these posts.
