I still don't understand how he was hoping to scam you? Promising you money never made any for him.

The facts don't really fit together. You accuse him of trying to scam, but there is no way he would have made any money out of that.

Thanks for pointing this out, kinda hard to find key posts burried in a thread where half the people are trolling.
Try another route paperboy.

Would you give him money before the gear was received, etc? You clearly wrote "after the end of the evaluation period", so after the players start to be paid. I don't see how he could have scammed anything like that, because he would have obviously been busted before that. Was he that stupid that he thought he could hide it for that long, delay payments and still receive a share of prize pools?

I offered $200, he decline. So the only person lost money was nanocloud as he mentioned earlier in the thread.

This is the strangest thing
A scam that really can't make money
What was he even trying to accomplish? Make you all look stupid?
Make himself look stupider?

Well sorry you had to waste your time and apparently some reputation on nothing. That would suck a lot

This is a very unfortunate event. To a team with any less history this would probably scare them for life. I am glad sMi has a history that will protect them from this terrible scam. It's just a reminder to everyone out there you need to be careful and verify they have the funds they offer to provide. If a "potential sponsor" wants to contract your team and not a personal sponsorship then they need to go through the organization not directly to the players. An organization cannot protect their players if they are not directly involved in the contract signing process. I hope you guys bounce back it's nice to see a team with such rich history continuing on into the future.

Best of luck sMi!

the funny thing is, sMi takes what they want, and put it on blast on TL, and so i been arrested twice? its not end of the world? nor was a convicted of anything...

amd getting money out of the team? not once did i ask money from them, and rei even offered me $200 of his personal money to help w/ things and i rejected it.

THEN one of their members decided to log on my skype and message people saying rude / negative things. such as to desrow, days, and other players.

these statements : false, they only take the things they want and put it on blast.

why you guys argue so much, nanocloud is probably barely decent amateur player, nothing more. There are hundreds of people of the same level...

actually you can.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Contract

A contract does not have to be in writing to be valid... it is just that having it in writing make it so much easier to litigate.
But most likely electronic trail can be quite enough to demonstrate the existance of the contract under the 'preponderance of evidences' standard, which is usually the scrutiny level in civil matters.

what puzzled me is : how would that scam actually worked ? by what mechanism the scammer was supposed to actually profit from the deception ? I can see how the deception can hurt the teams and the players... but I quit can grasp how that guy was expecting to profit from it....

Because he claims to be a top 16 gm player on NA beating players like polt and byun when its just people that are leveling his account and him going on the account to show off and now hes getting on GM only teams like sMi and Nanocloud when its not really him. It already looks like he convinced Jonsnow, Sonic and Rei into thinking he plays at that level. Nanocloud, I dont appreciate you lying.
people say practice is perfect but if nothing is perfect whats the point in practicing?

When it rains it pours and let me tell you when it concerns Nanocloud's skill as a player there is none. He dodged practice until a leveler of his was available to play, he claimed he finished top 20 at an MLG last year (then says he was playing under eifer's name), and when asked to stream with webcam he just dodges. Dude claimed Athena was sketchy from the start but so was he. I am actually surprised at his response because most of the "shit" he has on SCA is either incorrect or he was a part of it.

Trying to push blame and mud sling to make the ones calling him out look worse and dodge the overall blame is so juvenile. Just defend yourself then you can go to reddit with your dirty laundry.

Can anybody show evidence of this nanocloud figure claiming to be a top level gamer...?

http://www.sc2ranks.com/search/hots/global/1v1/all/all/exact/nanocloud
pretty sure it says GM there. There are even 2 replays for you to see for yourself.
oh and for those of you who said he always makes excuses and never practice with the team, you are wrong, I have a replay of him practicing builds with me.
http://ggtracker.com/matches/3798062

shouldnt that replay be a prime example of why he doesnt play at that level? Oh and the 2 games he did play(vs Rob and fraypetraeus) had a different hotkey setup. That should be enough evidence. Nanocloud has an alter ego. Hes not who he says he is.

I'm surprised so many people believed this deal that really seemed too good to be true. Obviously it sucks for everyone involved but even back when I first heard of the deal from a player that joined due to the sponsorship it seemed extremely fishy and I kinda assumed there was something up with it. Gl to those remaining on the team, sucks for players that left their teams >.<

People like this Anderson fellow deserve to be run over by a bus repeatedly. That might be harsh, but it's sad how many people these type of guys can try to scam and never really be stopped by conventional means through authorities.

If it's too good to be true, it probably is, is the way to think about it; especially when it comes to things like E-Sports, where making a buck is a hard to realize dream.

Could you elaborate on what kind of contracts you received ?
Did you never have a video conference or call to know what this guy looks like ?
Do you even know his real name or address?

This sounds so ... unbelievable .....

If you are young and have no contract, business experience whatsoever, why didn't you include your parents or whomever to bring more sense into this.
I mean sorry, this guy was clearly an idiot, but I blame you for being very naive and I hope you have learned a valuable lesson for life even if it is the hard way this time.
