How did you come up with your SC2 name?

Also cause in mythology it's a trickster, see korean Kumiho, Japanese Kitsune, Chinese Huli jing and Reynard in European Folklore.. By definition it means a clever or crafty person, a sexy person, as a verb it means to trick by ingenuity or cunning. So as you can tell it's like perfect for Starcraft : D.. and yes I'm OCD enough to consider all of those variables when I picked it ><

So when I bought WoL, I was like "Oh, I actually already have it linked to an e-mail address and password, I'll just use that", so I registered it under that account. Then I opened SC2, eagerly awaiting being able to choose my name and getting online. But I already had a name: John. And nowhere did it say I could change my name on BNet. I FREAKED OUT. Later in time, I discovered I could change my name on BNet's site, but I had already gone under John for so long and I wasn't really sure of a good name to change to. So I just stuck with John. And that's how I ended up with the name "SC2John". My name is Chris.

. My name was originally an xbox live autogenerated name, being on topic. I really just wanted to play Halo2 asap, my typical name I had used up until that point (either something referencing Cloud from FF7 or something dumb like DejaVu) was already taken so it had a list of "suggested names." FabledIntegral was the third on the list and I liked it :D. Had no idea it was related to math at the time. In fact, I loathe Calculus, don't particularly enjoy integrals (derivatives so much easier), and love and enjoy Statistics a ton. Taken ~7 stats classes, liked pretty much all of them, but hated all 3 calc classes I took.

this was back in 1g expand in wol against zerg edit: 3 gate expo, basically start of 2011 I would go fast double gas, fast double zealot, purposely let the drone scout in, and then I would say "notgoingdt". I would proceed to do a 1 star double voidray into fast double-expand, which destroyed fast thirds in the old 3 queen max meta, especially since you couldnt get a spore to the third with the 12 second burrow time, and 100/100 overseers. Then when they switch to must kill protoss mode, when they scout the third, they would usually forget about spores and a nicely timed 6 dt troll would end the game with the zerg screaming Just to add to the insult, I decided to switch my name to notgoingdt to add to the rage/irony/whatever

 Armada Vega

 Canada120 Posts
Armada in English refers to an armada of ships or a large army or group of ships. Armada is also a first name in Europe. Vega is the brightest star in the constellation of Lyra. Vega comes from Arabic ( al nasr ) "al wāqi" translated variously as "the eagle of the desert" or "the falling vulture." Vega exists as a last name in spain, So Armada Vega has 3 meanings. - An armada of desert eagles, or an armada of diving vultures - Armada /Vega are both first and last names and thus looks like an actual persons name - Vega also refers to a Star in our galaxy The name also sounds very sci-fi. So I kept the name and haven't changed it.

The name "Talic" is also the name of one of the ancients in Diablo 2. Pretty cheesy origins but I think it has a good ring to it. Talic is a fucking pimp with that red armour, man. I took "Sanctuary" as my name because I dunno. I wanted 1 word that was a noun, so boom. I was noob as fuck at BW so I just made funny names and played BGH when I wasn't getting raped on teh ICCUP. In Counterstrike I used to use Fopar. What a sick name that was... it just sounds like a shooter name, but it's ain't really an SC2 name.

I searched unused names and found some ridiculous random ones, one of them was Joz.. So I put E at the start and L in the end of it, because my real name is Eric Lassen. Back then the idea was to have it say EjozL and then because there's 2 big letters you could 2 * 5(numbers of letters in name) and it would be 10, the month of October and the 2 big letters is the day number 2 and my birthday is 2. October. Back then I thought it was really cool and guys from my class wanted me to make up ID's for them. But now it's rather lame I think, but since I still wanna stick to the name i just type it ejozl.

Was playing Quake 3 with a friend and my connection was acting up, which in Quake is represented by an image of an unplugged network cable over your avatars head. My friend simply said "You have one of those lag icons above you" (In swedish) and I changed my name accordingly (In Quake you just typ '/name whatever_name_you_want' to change name). It just kinda stuck and I never changed it back after that. Back a couple of years ago when I was smoking alot of weed I called myseld behindTheMoon whenever I was playing while I was high. I stole it from my crush at the time, who was using it on some social media site, because it looked pretty and me and my friends sometimes called drugs 'rocket fuel' and taking them 'going to space'. (Yes, I do know that this is really lame...)

Furious George (CS noob) MajiN (CS amateur) VisceN (CAL-P smurf tag) (I was just typing random words in the English -> Norwegian translator, it means "fish" but looks cool) MajiN - XXXXXX( X's are last name, used for CAL) MAJN - SSBM tourney Then WoW came along, and my new standard became "Crownless", based both on the song from Nightwish and on the poem from LoTR. Adding "lol" after your name became a thing to do in season3, kind of tounge-in-cheeky, and when I had to realm transfer and "Crownless" was taken, in came Crownlol. That spurred a number of other toons like "Snaredlol", "Fearedlol", and "Burstlol". Since "Crownless" is often taken as a handle on various forums and websites, keeping Crownlol just seemed to make sense.

Operation Bagration was the codename for the Soviet 1944 Belorussian Strategic Offensive Operation during World War II, which cleared German forces from Belorussia and eastern Poland between 22 June and 19 August 1944. Compared to other battles, this was by far the greatest Soviet victory in numerical terms. The German army never recovered from the materiel and manpower losses sustained during this time, having lost about a quarter of its Eastern Front manpower, similar to the percentage of loss at Stalingrad (about 20 full divisions). It must be remarked that the number of troops involved and especially personnel and material losses inflicted on the Wehrmacht was much bigger in Bagration than in Normandy. This was the death knell to the Nazis on the Eastern Front. They were losing before, after Bagration they were just stalling for time.

Similar to Day9, I was looking for a 1 word name because it was clean, easy to identify, and was following in the same vein as korean pro gamers. I just googled random translations from Arabic (my Mom grew up there) and saw An Najda which apparently meant "Help" according to the site I was on, so I just shortened it to Najda. Other variations include Najdaa or xNajda if Najda is taken. I've googled it recently to confirm the meaning but I can never find anything that confirms the translation, but instead it is apparently an Arabic girl name meaning "Courage," and also I've been saying it wrong the whole time. Oh well, it's been ...7? years and I'm not changing now.

So I will put mine here (probably again at this point). I used to have the name DaRk_ThOughts in MOH:AA. I was 14 at the time, leave me alone. I kept the name in Counterstrike 1.6 and played that until my clan banned me for "hacking". We were playing a friendly game of DoD that night, and I was liking the game so I played it quite a bit. When the clan leader tried to sneak up to me, he walked on some dirt and I heard it (since the game handled stealth a little different from CS) and he banned me then and there from all the clan servers including the DoD one. I found a realism clan and joined it and I was forced to use my real last name as my name in that unit, so I used my real name for a while. When SC2 came out, I grabbed it on a whim, and began to play it under the name "IronWarrior" because I didn't want to use my real name in it. I chose IronWarrior because I LOVED the Iron Warriors from Chaos in WH40K at the time. Well, move forward a couple months and my girlfriend sees my name and just laughs at it. Says its RIDICULOUS. Well, then I figured, shit, I guess it is and I went to change my name. I thought for a while and realised, I want to name myself something not too obscure, but just obscure enough. So I chose the final boss from my favourite game ever (prior to SC2 ). I chose the final boss from Final Fantasy 4 - Zeromus. Hardest boss I had ever played, frighteningly difficult in Zeromus EG form, and not too many people know the game. Some people do, and they notice it and comment, but very few do. Either way, I like it! And I'm happy with it. Ok! What's everyone elses story?

It's been a while since I've seen a "fun" thread like this hit the top of the forum so I found this old enjoyable gem and figured lets see some awesome stories! This was a brilliant idea. It's nice to remember that games are supposed to be fun! It also helps that there are 2 indie SC2 casters in another tab on my browser right now laughing like hyenas over a production error. Sadly, I don't really have a cool story to mine. I was watching pro gamers and using whatever the hell my brain's internal mechanism is to come up with a cool name - I came up with 3 good ones, and Circumstance was the one that seemed the least tryhard. So I went with it for all my Blizzard stuff.

I'm playing through FF4 right now so I finally can appreciate your name haha. My first username in broodwar came when I was listening to some system of a down album and one of the songs had the word "tablecloth", so I became tablecloth for a couple years. When I got bored of tablecloth I saw a linkin park's hybrid theory album laying around at a friends house and I changed my name to theory and that carried on into SC2.

On July 15 2013 06:04 SC2John wrote: So...when I first started getting interested in SC2, I downloaded the Starter Edition (because I didn't have enough money to actually buy the full game, then priced at $65). I went through the process of creating an account, blah blah blah, they asked for a name, I just typed "John", whatever, generic name. What do i call you in skype? John or Chris?! Hope your not dead btw

As for my TL name: Well the showstealer is ironic and the numbers are Guernsey numbers of a couple of my favourite players from sporting history (Matthew Lloyd for the Essendon AFL team = 18. Ian Harvey when he played for the Australian Cricket Team = 29)
