Especially with STX's financial troubles.

Wait, then this means that Jaedong is headed back to Team 8 after his year with EG is over, right?

Much better name than "team 8".

This is absolutely HUGE news.

After the downward spiral that was the transition from BW to SC2 (not talking about the games here, just that Oz/FOX/MBC simultaneously disbanded around that time) things are finally starting to improve again.
I'm happy Kespa is now trying to make two games (LoL & SC2) co-exist in Korea, it makes them less dependent on one thing and more stable, so more interesting for sponsors I guess. And it shows (:
Would still love to see a Proleague with eSF teams though, going back to around 10 teams would be awesome!

So happy for them. Seems to be mainly a LoL team tho so I hope they won't scrap the sc2 division after a season or so because it is such a money dump in Korea atm or something like that.

Damn I was gonna say the same thing to this guy, you beat me to it. Not everyone values things exactly the same, no need to put other things down just to give the thing you prefer more of a boost.

It's great that they got a piece of the sponsorship pie and it's good for publicity but Korean Air aren't new to e-sports and they aren't focusing on SC2.

i have a feeling they wouldn't have sponsored at all if it wasn't for lol and its popularity in korea.

Considering the CEO's daughter was involved I'd be surprised if it wasn't a major part of the deal. Similar to how the Jin Air OSL was picked up at the last minute (after several Korean Air OSL's) due to a lack of sponsors so was Team 8. It seems Korean Air (AKA the daughter) cares about Starcraft specifically, not just eSports or advertising. I'm well aware it's not Korean Air's first time in SC but it is their first venture into SC2, which is significant.
I'm also pretty sure buying an entire team counts as focusing. 2 LoL teams seems standard for a lot of the major sponsors for player number/practice purposes so the 1:2 argument doesn't really stand up. It's still a single teamhouse for either game and similar player numbers.

Don't worry, people just grasping straws so that they can take potshots and try to shit on SC2.
They just don't want to accept that SC2 is actually picking up steam in Korea.

I still hope IM and some of the other good GSTL teams have an oppurtunity to enter PL. I rather see the top teams fighting than traditional teams, IM definately deserves to be in PL.
