Following the start of the second season of the European WCS, it is time for new challengers to rise up. Through four qualifiers, eight players will qualify for the Challenger League. They will be joined by 24 players that drop down from the Premier League Ro32 and Ro16 as well as eight survivors of last season’s Challenger League to compete in the Challenger League Bracket Stage later on.
League Format and Qualification
The Challenger League is made up of a bracket stage with 40 players followed by a group stage with 32 players. The top 8 players of the bracket stage will qualify for next season’s Premier League, followed by 16 more after the group stage. Therefore, participating in these cups is the only chance for any player not currently in the Premier League players to compete in the Premier League in Season 3.
Challenger League – Online Qualifiers
From the 6th to 14th of July four online qualifiers will be held with up to 1024 participants each. Every day the top 2 will qualify for the Challenger League of WCS Europe’s second season. The brackets of all qualifiers will be seeded based on a dedicated WCS ranking followed by the all-time Go4SC2 ranking. All matches will be played in best of three format.
Cups are open for everyone that is currently Master or Grandmaster on the EU server this season or last season.
It’s mandatory to have your correct StarCraft II Gameaccount entered in your ESL profile. Visit esl.eu/eu/sc2/add_gameaccount/?type=sc2_eu_bnet_charcode and enter your Battle.net profile URL and Character code using the following format:

The Check-in starts (and sign-up closes) at 11:00 GMT (+00:00), one hour before the official start of the cup. As soon as we have a full bracket the Qualifier will start.

Can we have a word by the ESL because of the 16 year age limit? I made this thread and tweeted them about it. Their word has been that Blizzard sets the age restriction, but both KR and AM have U16 players playing in WCS.

it took me precisely 25 seconds to look up on the relevant websites that starcraft 2 is rated 16+ in EU and 'teen' in NA which corresponds to 13 plus.

well at least heromarine turns 16 on july 4th so hes able to participate finally.. but i think its still unfair that only WCS EU has that age limit.
there are other kids under 16 that are in gm and have a shot for sure.

theres no unified rating system in the eu. sc2 is 12+ in Germany.

I think it would be cool that next year they start completely fresh. Everyone has to recompete in 2014, but I do agree that season to season should have a consistent player base.

imo they should use the Teamliquid Starleague format. First place of each qualifier gets a seed, then the last 4 slots are derived from points based on performance from each qualifier. It seems to be much fairer than the current method.

Nice! But I think doing the RO 8 and RO4 the next day than the other rounds like in America is a much better option in my opinion. You don't want the top 2 to be decided 15 hours after the RO1024 begins and you get more viewers for the later rounds if it isn't at 1,2,3 CEST

Just because Germany is being annoying with their USK rating, doesn't mean there isn't a unified EU rating -> PEGI.

Too bad the PEGI rating is 12+ aswell. But binding for ESL is the german one anyway.
E: Looks like different sites pose different results, but still USK is the binding one for ESL, so this cant be the reason for that.

The age limit is 16.
If you turn 16 in the next few months and wish to participate, please submit a ticket here and we will make decisions on a case by case basis.
HeRoMaRinE turns 16 in the next week, and he will be allowed to play!

At the OP, your input method for Gameaccount doesn't work, when I try to insert my GA it gives me the invalid ID message.
The ESL site is really pissing me off, every single qualifier they required a different ESL Gameaccount to be updated, and worst still they offer almost 0 information on exactly what data you need to input, and no explanations of what data was incorrect when you finally do input something, its really frustrating and off putting to have to go trough this shit every single time, why the hell can't they use data I previously used to register for a qualifier?
Edit Nvm, their system is finally working and I was able to insert the correct data and sign up. Still, wish we only had to add one gameaccount one single time and be done with it.

Speaking Unofficially about the Age Restrict Elements.
There's a lot to consider with age requirements, its not only just if the game is legal for the age group to play, but if a 13 year old qualifies to go play in Cologne Germany for a weekend, this may come as a bit of a shock for the parents who have to work in their schedule to transport their starcraft2 prodigy.
Now let's think of flight requirements and restrictions, some airlines impose extra rules and restrictions that must be met for underage travellers. British Airways as an example requires extra documentation for Italian children under 14 years and requires extra booking requirements for unaccompanied minors between 12 and 18.
In the end it is much easier, much less paperwork, and less prone to problems than having an 'of age' consenting adult. In a perfect world though governments wouldn't care and parents always fully accepted their child's wishes and desires. Sadly that is not the case . Very sadly.

The gameaccount used for this season's WCS EU & America qualifiers is going to be the "one" gameaccount you should ever need to enter (except to update it for name changes, etc).
We have moved to a new system of "url#code", replacing the old two separate gameaccounts (nick#code and web-id), ready for a new feature we will have in a few weeks that will make playing in our cups much easier!
The format was explained in the news posts/announcements, and when you enter it incorrectly, it was also explained in the error message
Hopefully in a few days we will have moved to the new system for all ESL SC2 cups!

Seed are ESL points based. Nobody knows what the formula is (even the most experienced LP editors) but it exists.
