Awesome! Hope he gets some Korean practice at the EG-TL house!

How are EG and Alliance related?
Didn't think EG would get close to Nani...
Big pickup for them though.

Out of curiosity, even though it's rather obvious has EG actually confirmed Alliance as basically their affiliated off-shoot? I know it's not really hidden, but I don't feel like I've seen an official statement that formally links the two. Perhaps that's purposeful though, like a "nudge nudge wink wink know what I mean" type of affair.

From the titel I actually thought he was switching to Dota^^

Alliance is Evil Genius, Their first 2 sponsors are EG sponsors. Monster has only ever sponsored EG, And guess what, Alliance sponsor is Monster/Razer and now recently XMG. . The reason evil Genius made alliance is because they know a sinking ship when they see one. Because EG knows they are the best off in the scene (most amount of sponsors). They have realized that in order to keep the Esport scene alive(sc2 specifically) instead of hearing about some sc2 team getting disbanded every couple of months, EG wants to make sure the scene does not collapse to just be EG vs TEAM LIQUID every single time, Thats boring. there needs to be a place for these "good players" to go once teams start collapsing and thus Alliance was created, And it literally means "Alliance".. Its an effort to get all the pros that deserve to be hired a job so that they stay in the scene and contribute.
The reason EG does not market themselves as EG-Alliance is because if they do it defeats the intended purpose of the team.

For a national team we would need ThorZaIN, SjoW and maybe SaSe. Too bad it wouldn't work out in terms of who likes each other :/

Are Alliance players eligible to play for EG-TL ?

I agree 100%, the problem is the Zerg though. They are really subpar except for SortOf compared to poland for example. hOpe is up and coming so he may would have fit that Swedish dream team well

i dunno about that. Even if they managed by EG would that make them EG? I don't think so. Just because Abramovich owns Chelsea and CSKA moscow doesnt mean those two are the same teams.
|
I sooo wanna make an EG joke, but I`m too lazy to think of a creative one and somebody else already nailed it. So can`t be a hipster and will say this in a depressed voice "glhf to everyone".

it says they are a "sister" to team EG - how does that work?
do they share some of the same top-end managers or something?

No, they are quite decent mates/rivals so they get along. It's impossible with the terrans though so I'm not gonna expect them.
EDIT: SaSe could work if he desides to ditch Fnatic, but he probably shouldn't do it. Would be quite the douche move.

On June 28 2013 04:01 Heyoka wrote:As per their official release, former Western Wolves player SortOf has joined Evil Geniuses' sister brand Alliance. Show nested quote +Today we’re excited to announce that we’re adding Rickard “SortOf” Bergman to our Starcraft 2 division. SortOf has been a staple in the Starcraft 2 scene since early 2012. He finished second in both E-Sport SM 2011-2012 and WCS Sweden Nationals by the year’s midway point. Later in the year he would go on to take fourth in the North American Starleague’s fourth season as the highest placing foreigner. As long time friend of our player Johan “Naniwa” Lucchesi, we’re elated that Rickard has decided to join us and help grow our team. We want to keep our squad small and close knit; Rickard fits the bill perfectly for the kind of player we are looking to have on Alliance. He and Johan will be traveling to Korea in the coming week to prepare for the next WCS Europe season and they will make their return in the off season to prepare for the season that follows. Johan remarked on the new addition to the Alliance roster, “It is with great pleasure that I see SortOf joining Alliance. It already felt like a dream to me having an all Swedish team.” Nani would go on to, jokingly, comment, “Rickard is also a kings name just like Johan so I have no doubt he will do well.” Rickard will make his debut under the Alliance banner during the IEM China Qualifiers on June 30th. We hope that our fans will wish him a warm welcome and cheer for him there and in the future. Welcome to the team. Also of note that they took advantage of the opportunity to make a sweet pun when he joined, as seen on their twitter. The Alliance SC2 roster now has NaNiwa and SortOf.
The pun is so used up though D:
Hopefully he can start getting some results like the days of the Patchzergs (not saying he was one, but that was when he was most successful).
