ohhhh t.t i wanted to see violet and drg so badly... heard nothing from them for a long time. other than that, i never liked the first group stage of dreamhack, no interesting matches there, clear favorites and noone there to create an upset. :D But still looking forward to the next group stage should be awesome! GOGO dreamhack
Really solid groups. Usually there is a group or two that starts the tourney off with 3 progamers out of 4 and that SUCKS because someone goes home on day 1... but here as far as I could see it's 2 known / progamers and 2 fairly unknown players.
Don't get me wrong.. I am all for an underdog story or two but I think DH does an amazing job of being fairly fair to those that travel to their events AND those that are playing for the honor of competing (not their job).
3 azubu members cancelling is not surprising after last week's azubu news. DRG cancelling is not surprising either given no free trip, but I am surprised at Polt cancelling. Taking these 5 guys out does weaken the player pool by a lot, but I'm super happy life is going now! Hopefully life wins it all!
I love it when you get players like Life and Stephano in a group with a bunch of unknowns, it's like me and my mates turning up for a kickabout and finding out we're against Real Madrid.
Shame about the cancels, but hey, more chance for the foreigners!

What Azubu news did I miss?
Still looking forward to DH, Life is there, Jaedong, Squirtle, Taeja.. Could be fun .
Life confirmed for winnar Waiting for Dreamhack = Fantasy GG Please do not play and hand check to Life now with champagne opening livestream on Twitch.tv Saves time and we can play moar games Thanks in advance
Group 12 looks like the most difficult. But a lot of top foreigners should get out easy and may have a few surprises for koreans with the unknown players bringing cool strats hopefully
Wow the cancellations are pretty shit lineup got a lot weaker. It's Life's tournament to lose now, nobody near his level will be coming, maybe hyun with some fortunate zvz or squirtle with one of his patented blind allins.

Sucks to see so many Koreans drop out (AZUBU especially), but I still am confident the tournament will be incredible. Life joining is fantastic, expect him to tear up the tournament.

Oh well I like him a lot more than DRG :D
I'm wondering if TAiLS is going to stay in Europe after Dreamhack, so they only have to pay for one European trip. That's the only reasoning I can see for it.

Good reasoning.
Very good reasoning. Maybe he'll stay in Acer house ?
Damn I really wanted to watch Naama, Polt, SaSe and SuperNova. Naama has performed amazingly in DH in the past with his unique entertaining play. Oh well, still a lot of good players.

I've missed seeing Life play. Since he got knocked out this season I've missed my crazed teenage nerd killer. I'm always excited about DH, now I'm even MORE excited.
Unfortunately the following competitors have had to cancel their participation: DRG, Monchi, Naama, Polt, SaSe, SuperNova, Symbol, viOLet, Widunder and XlorD.
They will be replaced by the following: Avekatten, Darkomicron, HoBbe, Jona, Life, Mist, PoYo, Tails and uThermal

Wish it was better formatted, because I had a hard time getting a quick overlook of the players. At first I was wondering why there was just a bunch of teams, haha.
BUT i wish some TOP korean protoss and terrans were here.......Taeja and gumiho doesnt count So sad he has no "real" opponents, but i am hoping he is showing some true skill now, hope he doesnt dissapoint

So.. Squirtle just won Dreamhack?
Does it say anywhere that Life cancelled his participation?

hopefully that looks better, I got rid of most of the team names
I don't see anyone in the field who can potentially beat Life in a best of 5 series. TaeJa potentially could in bo3 I think but yeah, on the first look seems like no competition for Life.

Squirtle can do it if he doesn't have another one of his foreign tournament mental breakdowns.

I would gladly volunteer to dry his pretty tears... ahem.

That is because you forget your SC2 history and think the favorites are unbeatable. The biggest players have often fallen to unlikely opponents. Like, say, life losing to snute at IPL 5.
the schedule goes really late... i think it would've been better if it had one more play-day. i'm sure i'm not the only one that might not end up watching the final considering it's scheduled to end at 1am, which means it'll end even later. and that's on a Monday.

No, I actually don't forget Starcraft 2 history, but I don't base my judgement on things that can eventually happen. Life is I think unargueably the player with the highest skillceiling or at least highest level of play at that moment of time and even though upsets happen, I will not make a statement that its unlikely Life will win, just because the off-chance that someone beats him ;-)!
Nice to see a bunch of the top Dutch players (other than the usual 3 of Grubby, Ret, Harstem) join in: uThermal, PoYo, Jona, Darkomicron. Will be rooting for them for sure.

Gumiho doesn't count? Squirtle is not a real opponent?
Nice player lineup, will be fun to see Najzmajs go at it again =P He'll likely not get out of his group because of Control (aka Traumen) looking at 2nd place after Sting, but I for one will be looking for signs of improvement.
PandaTank should be able to make his way out of this group. The only player who I believe can make him come second in the group is BabyKnight. BabyKnight has show very good form lately. Go PandaTank!

By the way ForGG won't attend DreamHack.
Yeah I'm not 100% sure but I heard he has a little visa issue which delays his returning in Europe. And he also wanted to spend more time with his family as he wasn't returned in Korea for a long time.

Yes, exactly my thoughts. Poltuu
Yup, it is very unfortunate when you see a long list of players who couldn't or wouldn't make it. Meh, down to 13 Koreans. At least now we have a clear favorite in Life. This should arguably be a piece of cake for him, but we know what happened in the last two GSLs, so you never know what kind of form he will be in. Will be interesting to see how he deals with hellbats and the sky toss armies the Europeans show us.

Ah works better, thanks. Another trick is keeping the team name while you bold the player name for clarity.

I tohught, it was 14 (Lucky, Arthur, Stardust, Daisy, Center, Gumiho, Sting, Squirtle, Hwangsin, Jaedong, STC, Hyun, Life, Taeja). Did one of those cancel as well and it is´nt released yet?
Group 1: forGG will be replaced by Sluskis Group 11: Center will be replaced by DaBoO Group 16: BabyKnight will be replaced by Giant Group 19: HwangSin will be replaced by ArtifacT
Group 3 & 11: will swap Groet for Tails (Admin error) Group 5 & 20: Mad will change from 5 to 20 (Admin error)]
Wow so many dropouts, it'll be an upset now if life doesn't win it all. Though if he hasn't improved his zvz then he's snipeable there by someone like jaedong.
I dont get why they dont have group stage 1 & 2 at the first day. Stage 1 is only a joke and doesnt matter pretty much at all. Basicly Dreamhack is only two day event and second day always feels really rushed. They should focus on important matches and not group stage one.
So viOLet is going to go, although they already announced, that he does´nt? They still have one TBD in group 5, but that would be really tough then (One of Arthur/vipro/viOLet going out). Can they still do smth with the seeding, to avoid this?
Edit: Checked the website, apperently viOLet replaces sluskis in Group 1 and Sluskis moves to group 5.
Casting at Dreamhack has been amazing so far. Was already a fan of Apollo but this just rockets him to right below Tastosis in my book. His casting partner right now in the quarters is pretty good as well. InControl was really great too.
