Basically they just take care of the business side of things for the athlete, i.e. take care of event registrations, negotiate sponsorship deals, promote the athlete, etc. This is generally good for the athlete because it lets them focus exclusively on their sport without all the business worries, and as a general rule of thumb a manager knows the buisness side much better than the athlete anyway.

He won't be playing as a professional player any more, but just think of all the possibilities. IdrA now has the freedom and financial support to create content and be a representative for eSports all over the world. His large fan base will make the company easily recognisable and boost the attention that eSports will get in the future. I'd love to see him as a personality, making content and just being present on every level of the scene. If he soon starts to cast events or even host tournaments I'd be ecstatic. He did not get signed, he signed them. They are his agents, not his team.

Like, did any of those players pick up a new team, a new job or a new sponsorship during their time with eMG? Did their twitter followers or stream numbers or whatever rise? It's really handwavy at the moment. Like I said, I know what they do in theory, but as this is relatively new to have professional marketing agencies in eSports (afaik), it's really hard for me to witness the improvements and comfort they bring to players. All I know is that their "What We Do" section on their site is a bundle of buzzwords, like this is usually the case with that sort of thing/website. Let's take an example. I see that Tasteless is one of their clients. Can somebody tell me of one thing Tasteless did recently that could have been helped by eMG? The Ttesports sponsorship? Streaming the HotS campaign? World of Tanks casting even? I guess the ttesports sponsorship makes sense. Ever heard of Tasteless not being able to do an event due to visa issues? Me neither.

However, I think that deal was short term and over now because tasteless is no where to be found on alpha brain's site now and tasteless no longer tweets about it. The link to tasteless profile on their website in their press release is also a dead link now. I'm guessing it was like a 6 month sponsorship or something that ended and wasn't renewed. https://www.onnit.com/blog/pro-gamer-nick-tasteless-plott-joins-onnit-honor-roll/ Also, I think they helped clutch get that nasl gig.

Many readers would agree IMO. eMG has no visible track record of accomplishments. For all we know, it's just a bunch of names on a website. This signing could mean something, it could mean nothing. Who knows.

Tasteless got that alpha brain supplement deal. Oh yeah I forgot that one haha. :D On May 24 2013 05:58 Thieving Magpie wrote: Show nested quote + On May 24 2013 05:55 ZenithM wrote: Was there even one bit of clue as to what eMG did precisely for the players that they already have contracted? Actually no, I don't remember this (from players yes, but not from Tasteless, and we all know that recently he doesn't do any other casting than Code S and World of Tanks at GOM /sadface). But this would help how? Other than eMG spamming him with "GET YOUR VISA MAN, DON'T FORGET!", I don't see what more they can do in that regard. They can't get a visa for him. If Tasteless has to give them all that is required to fill the paperwork, he might as well do it himself.

Movie stars for example never really have to talk to anyone when negotiating how much they'll do for a movie, what they're willing to do for a movie, etc... Its not exactly "visa" per say but anything really. They make life easier for the player not in a practice sense, but in a moving around the business sense.

To put it another way: Think of all things you need to think about when you travel - Housing, food, plane tickets, transportation, contacts you need to meet when traveling. Times when you need to show up at places, contact information for the people you are meeting. Add additional things if you are working at an event. Agents take care of all that stuff and allow the person to do their job when they get to the event.
