I already like Papa John's more than Dominoes/Pizza Hut/Little Caesar's, and now they're having a 50% off sale to support esports. What's the downside? Well, there hasn't been enough drama lately. Plus, while we want more sponsors to come to ESPORTS, they better have a perfect track record and follow everything we agree with. Otherwise we are just selling ourselves out or something like that. It makes drama, that's why we do it! This actually reminds me of a post a while ago about how somebody thought he was doing a great thing by adblocking every stream that he watches, apparently we shouldn't be selling out to advertising and such. Needless to say, IdrA explained how much of a douche that guy was. We really could use IdrA in this thread as well... P.S. Everyone: I don't know where you will ever get food from, clothes from, or most of your standard toiletries without buying from someone that probably does something you don't agree with. We should support PJs for this endeavor, because if other people see it as profitable to invest into SC2 and other games, the better for us all.

I feel we are gonna look down upon this whole thing a year or two later and say that selling ourselves like that wasn't such a good idea... I have a big " Should we be doing this ? " moment right now. :/ What in God's name are you talking about?

I come from the future, esports will open a rim in the pacific. Dozens of giant monsters will destroy everything and humanity will face annihilation, but then we decide to fight monsters with monsters. Also, we get the chick. All of them.

I don't care what anybody else here does. Eat them pizzas show support. I even sent a message to pj to thank them for their interest in esports. I just can't bring myself to order.

I don't know. It just feel wrong to me because right now, it's not about sponsoring, it's about being a glorified marketing campaign. But I guess it's because I'm seing this from afar in Europe.

Yes, this is a marketing campaign as well, but things like this lead to sponsors if the campaign is successful. This is just a way for Papa John's to kind of get their foot in the door of esports and see if it's something really worth investing in, without having a big potential for loss (I can assure you they're still making a profit from "50% off" pizza). If all goes well, Papa John's may end up actually sponsoring an organization (Why do you think they make you choose who referred you to the promotion? So they'll have a better idea of who's worth investing in). And if that happens, this would arguably be the biggest company to actually sponsor an esports organization (Redbull and Monster are up there too, but personally I think Papa John's takes the cake here). And if other companies see Papa John's doing it, that can lead to even more sponsorship opportunities! TLDR: 50% off delicious pizza, and you support esports. win/win

Oh don't worry, I know that. My family own a restaurant so I'm aware of how promotion actually work out for the company. It's just, watching my twitter feed, I have the bad feeling of being abused here. But hehe, nevermind me, just a bit dubious.

Well, people are a bit giddy about a deal like this (this is EXACTLY the sort of thing that gets people excited & buying pizza even just for the heck of it to feel like they're backing something they love). The players are giddy too (and some get credit) so it's not too surprising that they would go overboard on the promotion...
