The scene will be better if it's unified. Whether this is the best possible way to do it is something no one can know without having been in the negotiations personally.

I think the community has all come together and decided that while the announcement was a massive collective disappointment, the game itself looks pretty neat. On-topic, I'm hoping for a unified, Blizzard-backed league with an ongoing format similar to GSL, with broadcast times that make sense for every region. 9PM, S-TH, you get top tier SC2 no matter where you live. Fingers crossed :D

Also, I don´t think of a stronger presence of Blizzard as a bad thing for the market. It´s good that there´s someone who has an interest in SC2 beyond one´s own production. I absolutely agree with this. To be honest, I think the main problem with E-sports as opposed to other sports currently is that there is no international standard. Like, we have a national and european level of soccer unions who organize a highly professional league (the champion's league) that everyone considers to be the most important place for soccer teams to prove themselves. We miss something like this for SC2, or games in general. Riot Games is a pioneer in this, and I suppose Blizzard should be too. Last year's Blizzard World Championship was a great example of how it should be organized (centralized), but there is still a lot of room for growth and improvement. I hope this investment pays of in that direction.

It's associated with Minitry of Culture and Tourism and Olympic Committee, so it's technically a government agency and can't die. Although Kespa manages dozens of games, they have hand-off policy on most of the games, and only care much about SC2.
