From http://evilgeniuses.net/eg-liquid-names-coach-park-as-new-head-coach/ :

"...We are thrilled to welcome Coach Park as the new Head Coach of EG-Liquid, and we are very excited to work with him going forward in the second half of the 2012-2013 Proleague season. Beginning March 12th (next week), EG-TL’s players will officially be under his leadership.

“I’ve wanted to join a foreign team for a very long time now, so it feels like I have finally met my dream. It’s very exciting to work with both Korean players and foreign players,” said Coach Park.

This does not mean, in any way, that the members of our current coaching staff will be replaced. We think that Sung Hwan “Hwanni” Kim and Sung Jin “trOt” Park did the best they could, given the situation they were put in, but in retrospect it was unrealistic to expect Sung Jin, who was coaching in a non-assistant role for the first time, and Hwanni, who was simultaneously fulfilling the roles of the team’s Head Coach and Operations Manager, to keep EG-Liquid at the same level as KeSPA teams with years and years of experience. Going forward, Sung Jin will work directly under Head Coach Park as his Assistant Coach, and Hwanni will focus strictly on our Korean Operations. We are also considering improving the depth and versatility of our Proleague lineup by adding more players to the roster, but no such additions have been finalized as of yet..."

I'm excited, as well.

Coach Park's Career Achievements (Brood War)

2006 Sky Proleague 1st place (Coach, MBCGame Hero)
08-09 Shinhan Bank Proleague 1st place (Head Coach, SK Telecom T1)
09-10 Shinhan Bank Proleague 2nd place (Head Coach, SK Telecom T1)
10-11 Shinhan Bank Proleague 2nd place (Head Coach, SK Telecom T1)
2012 SK Planet Proleague Season One 1st place (Head Coach, SK Telecom T1)
2x Proleague regular season Coach of the Year

Huge news, can only be positive I guess! I am not familiar with coach Park, but he looks badass

Edit: Oh they used the picture from here: http://www.teamliquid.net/forum/viewmessage.php?topic_id=339200
Also there is an interview with Coach Park there, for those who are interested

Coach Park Quote from the interview above;
Personally I'm very positive about it, but that's up to the front office in the end. I would enjoy living with foreigners and seeing what they're like. Also, the way they approach games is a bit different from Koreans, so I would like to analyze that difference and find exactly why Koreans become top-class gamers. But I would have to learn English first, I guess? (laughs)

That should hopefully put to rest any fears of EG-TL not taking proleague seriously

Nice! Maybe now EG-TL will play to their strengths and not just send people out based on diminishing mirrors.

Damn it I was trying to see if there was a thread for this elsewhere before I made one but I'm on my phone and it was taking so long!!

Anyway, it's a pretty big announcement and I hope for the best for everyone involved in eg-tl's future.

THIS. Hopefully we see a turnaround in the results. It's been quite depressing cheering on EG-TL lately--this should put smiles on our faces again.

This is how you make talented players better. It not about practicing for 16 hours, its about having someone direct their practice to get the most out of their time. Its about getting one of the best coach available who wants the challenge of getting non-korean players to the level that Kespa stars are at. I am more pumped for Pro-league than ever.

Them deep pockets!!!
Something had to be done to stop the rape in ProLeague.

Don't think much will change if they don't fully commit to it..

Probably not, it has to be said. But he's the coach to try!
