I was naturally guaranteed to be the victor, so I don't feel too excited. I'm simply glad that I was able to preserve Korea's championship victory record.
During the first set, you quickly scouted your opponent's proxy Stargate. Had you anticipated this in advance?
My opponent's Gateways were supposed to be up and running when I first scouted him, but he wasn't producing any units out of them, so I was sure that there was a proxy building somewhere. When I checked the 6 o'clock position, I found the Stargate.
During the second set, you confronted your opponent with a Phoenix composition followed by Immortals. Didn't you feel vulnerable?
Had my opponent been a good player, I would have felt vulnerable, but I believed that I would easily be able to block his attack and win the game. After seeing with my Phoenixes that my opponent was going for Blink Stalkers, I decided to use the power of Immortals.
Even though it feels as if Koreans are taking all of the StarCraft II tournament medals, you alone were able to earn a gold medal [at WCG]. Why do you think that the other Koreans failed to take the other medals?
I think the reason is that the other Koreans got careless. If they had stayed on guard, they would have been able to take bronze at the very least. Meanwhile, I made sure to watch all of my opponents' most important VODs, which was of great help to me.
You had a difficult time making it to the finals, dropping a set during each of your matches.
It's true. I realized during this tournament that it's possible to lose even against players who haven't won tournaments before if you underestimate them. I went into the final series with the mindset that I needed to focus and make sure not to let my guard down.
After winning the BWC, you were able to take the WCG victory that you desired.
My original goal this year was to win three tournaments, and I've gotten close after winning the BWC and WCG. To be honest, I created new goals for myself once I won the BWC. I wanted to become the undisputed world champion by taking WCG, as well as show a proper performance at the GSL Grand Finals. With these objectives ahead of me, I felt very eager and excited. I want to complete my objective of winning three events with a victory in the GSL Grand Finals.
Do you have confidence that you will take the GSL Grand Finals?
I am indeed confident. I think that it'll be just like winning WCG 2012: aside from Rain, I've had experience defeating all of the other players, so I think I can manage to win. I've lost to Rain before at WCS Asia and the OSL, so I want to face him at the GSL Grand Finals and make sure to get my revenge.
Please tell us anything more that you would like to say.
First of all, I would like to thank ESC, our team's director, as well as our manager, Kim Kwang-bok. I also want to send my thanks to my mom and tell her that I love her. I'll buy something tasty to eat for my teammates with the prize money I've earned. I want to thank my team's sponsors, Red Bull, Zowie, and Joy Gear. I feel as if I'm flying sky-high thanks to the wings that Red Bull has given me, and I'm glad that my tournament results are rising up through the atmosphere.

Parting has become a big man. It wasn't THAT long ago that he was among the "players who haven't won tournaments before". He escaped that group two weeks ago.

While over confidence is parting to the core, if you saw the player pool for WCG you would know that parting was heavy favorite to win.
Had my opponent been a good player, I would have felt vulnerable,
Made me lol.
I too found the "players who haven't won tournaments before" statement funny, as said above me.
Winning GSL Grand Finals would definitely make Parting a top 3 WoL Protoss I think (if he isn't already that is, I haven't thought about it at all so no comment on that), dunno if he can actually pull it off but it will be interesting.

Red Bull better give him a free sky diving trip like they did to bomber after all these amazing plugs
PartinG has definitely become one of my favorite Protoss players, nice to see him win another tournament and looking forward to see how he does in the GSL Grand Finals, hopefully he runs into Sniper and has a chance to avenge the reputation of his "soul push".

Don't get me wrong, i like Parting, but sometimes he's crossing the line a bit.

Winning and then dissing your opponent is really poor form. Smack talk beforehand is fine but once you do win, don't talk shit. Lost a lot of respect for Parting after this interview.

I'm slightly upset because i know that AdelScott can beat PartinG in maybe one out of five matches, specially because it's PvP. It's not nearly as justified as it was in BW to look down on foreigners like that. But it's probably seen as cool in Korea and that's why PartinG said it.
And yeah, you can't even name 10 but nice hyperbole there.

When players like Stephano says shit like that he is considered as "cool"
"has personality" but when a Korean says it he is a "disgraceful little twat"
is what I have observed from this community. But when koreans give typical
interviews like "my opponent played really well blah blah " the community call them
faceless robots. Your point on Adelscott being capable of taking a series off parting is
just fucking hilarious, maybe you seem to forget its a bloody pvp which means there could be
BO losses. Any pro player can take a game off Parting BECAUSE its a pvp.
No, looking down at foreigners is not seen as cool in korea but nice try there kid
Edit: it doenst really matter what parting says. He says Adelscott is bad (well.. indirectly )
because he won those fucking games. I dont see anything wrong with what he said, especially
when he beat a random player without any big achievement and Parting prob doesnt even care that
you guys are butthurt cuz he just made 25k while people on this forum were calling him BM.

No it's basically what he said ♥
You have to remember that Parting is a showman. This interview was made for people in his own country, not TL, so he's shamelessly pandering to Korean pride more than anything else

Yeah honestly when I saw the line up at the start it was just parting all the way with a chance of marineking or younghwa beating him. They both choked so...

No it's not. It is because of the way he talked down on his opponent in a public interview, doesn't have anything to do with who did it to whom (and it's not cool at all that you're indirectly accusing us of racism). I don't mind some mild trash talking before a match, I don't mind a little bit of in game taunting like manner mules, I don't mind being confident and letting the world know about it in interviews, but after a match the loser has to accept his loss (SC2 convention is typing a gg and not trying to belittle the winner's accomplishment) and a winner shouldn't keep on beating his opponent after he admitted defeat. Call it old-fashioned, but that is fair play/honor to me.
When he says "Had my opponent been a good player", we have to understand that it's all in the context. Relatively speaking, compared to the top players, his opponent is not a good player. We need to bear in mind that Starcraft is extremely competitive, and even though Adelscott can be considered a good player, compared to the best players, well he's not that good at all.
Parting has some of the best interviews out there. Dont think it was that big of a diss on Adel, by not a good player just meant that he wasnt Code S quality player and im sure everyone would agree.

1. Fucking learn to write paragraphs. Not being able to take 30 sec to format your text reflects poorly on your statements. 2. Don't venture into xenophobia. 3. PartinG is a arrogant douche. Stephano could be placed in that category but what he has going for him is that when he loses, he takes it like a professional player and always say he should have played better. The difference here is that PartinG is saying "I am better than my opponent so it's only natural that I win" whereas Stephano is saying "I am better than my opponent so I must play better better than him in order to win." 4. It's funny how you try to insult us. See #4

I think there is no needs to answer to this guy. Like you said, everything in his text stinks racism : old grudge against stephano, enjoying Korean players that trash "white guys" like he said... Poor troll. That being said, I hope for PartinG that he will live up to his attitude, we have already seen player rising at the top for two or three months and then disappear.

Parting trash talking as always, in this case i find it to be somewhat in bad style, MC trashtalks a lot too but i dont think right after he beats someone and in a more 'fun' banter kind of way but whatever, thats parting

So many high horsemen in this thread. Parting won, he's allowed to say whatever he wants. I'm sure he's just laughing it up, and joking around with 90% of what he says. And even when he loses, he still acts like that. Yes, calling your opponent bad after winning slightly bm, but it's all for fun and games. He'd rather act arrogant, and cool for the few years he'll be gaming rather than shy and humble. Why not if it's just one chapter in your life.

Parting has no clue why he won, because Adel is not that bad. Game 2 was close and if Adel didn't fail 1 forcefield 5 zealots would have been dead and he'd have won. The thing is Adel's style has been figured out in Europe and especially in French tournaments where he's lost against french zerg no names. So many people constantly complain that Adel doesn't do more varied builds.
So when Adel played Parting in the finals he thought Parting had studied him in depth, so Adel played completely differently than usual. Adel is always going for 1 gate robo fast immortals and expand but instead he chose to gamble in game 1 and change builds.
Adel pretty much overthought the game and defeated himself, while Parting just played his style without really doing builds to counter Adel's supposed style.
Parting is really acting like a douche there. When guys like Stephano or MC are trashing it's BM and sometimes they went a bit too far in my opinion but they're always doing that with a 2nd degree, there's almost always some kind of irony behind it or untold things. With Parting there's no funny meaning behind it, it's just straight insulting.

"Whine about Koreans not having enough personality" "Cry when a Korean shows personality". lol

Did you see Stephano's interview where he called out the patch zergs? What was the irony and untold things there?
I can tell there's no irony because they haven't played each other before and haven't met before.

PartinG's pretty hilarious lol, even MC wasn't this funny And I love a pro-gamer that speaks his mind openly like this. Adelscott IS bad compared to the quality of opponents that PartinG normally faces.

Please point out where the "bad sportsmanship" comes from. I only see an interview where a pro-gamer speaks his mind and what many others were thinking, and isn't afraid to tell the truth.
A whole lot better than: "My skills are skill lacking, and for that I am sorry" "I promise to show better games in the future" "Luck was on my side today" "I didn't think I would win at all" "My condition has not been the best lately"
i wonder if the people defending parting thought it was okay when naniwa said that nestea was pretty bad after he beat him that one MLG invitational tourney.
i generally have a hard time cheering for the smug players, but i'm glad they're in the scene. it keeps everything from becoming too much the same.
I hope PartinG gets the revenge he wants against all the KeSPA players, not just Rain.
Yeah... parting is really becoming a dislike-able character now he's winning international tournaments now. He's really full of himself. I still love his play but... he's similar to Idra in a way, by downgrading his opponents.
It's not really funny.... yet. But it's funny how he shook Keen's hands for winning him a desperate place for Code S, he wasn't full of himself back then.

Lol, no bias there of course. A lot of people thinks PartinG is funny as well. And of course saying patch Zerg is BM. It is basically saying that Zerg player is actually bad but because of patch, he is doing well.
By you logic, since Adelscot is not a top player, then it would not be BM to mention it.
Shiro: Your series with PartinG was the highlight of the night for many a fan, and a dramatic affair. In the first game, you countered his patented Immortal/Sentry push with a heavy defense, but still came dangerously close to being broken. PartinG talked in his interview about how you studied Scarlett’s replays and blind-countered his build. How in fact did you prepare, and how did the game feel from your perspective?
Suppy: I did watch the replays just before the match briefly, but they basically told me what I already knew was going to happen – a sentry immortal all-in. He brags about it all the time, so what player wouldn’t expect to face it? I did not blind counter his build and I actually analyzed all my games on stream a few days ago to clarify everything I did, as well as demonstrate to everyone how I scouted what he was doing. He also claimed that I made up a build on the spot to counter him, which is completely wrong. What I did is something I’ve been using against sentry immortal all-in for months now, and any Protoss on NA ladder could tell you that. Plus, if you always claim that your build is unbeatable, then shouldn’t there be no such thing as a blind counter to it? PartinG just thinks too highly of himself.
